I like the sound of two Roland 210 combos but I don't think my damaged back will - the solution needs to be REASONABLY light, but needn't be featherweight!

Yeah I should have explained that one - my pre is a Roland vbass and pretty much all the synths are stereo and I like to pan the strings on the fretless sim etc etc. Also the drums will be stereo. You are right though, the clean bas and the other bass models are mono but they also have a touch of reverb that sounds nicer in stereo... ped )( dep (stereo ped)

Hi folks, I am loking at a stereo setup for my bass and possibly also for my brothers Vdrums. I was thinking about a couple of reasonably powered combos (the rig will be used for gigging too but with IEM support so needn't be that powerful - I was thinking possibly even two combos) However I don't really need a pre-amp or any tone shaping as we can do that on our units before the amplifier so my bro mentioned some good powered monitors were the thing for his Vdrums. I know several people here have used a single powered speaker as part of a rig, but is there anything in particular I should avoid or look out for? The advantage of sharing this purchase with my brother is we can probably buy one each and end up with a stereo pair coming from the mixer we currently use with headphones. I guess a budget of £300-£400 per speaker is about right. OR should I be looking at a pair of cabs and a stereo power amp? Cheers ped

No no I meant I will give him a thick ear!! ;0) I am looking into getting some powered speaker stereo setup at the moment... The BBQ idea went out of the window after I made the rack unit (the pod) redundant after a weekend of playing around. Now I ONLY use the vbass so there is no need for a case containing the Vbass and other gubbins. I probably should get a pedalboard type case for it at some point though. Eazy now ped

This is mine - I love it for many reasons! - It is quite old (1988) and has lots of wear but means it fits 'like an old jumper' - I don't have to be precious with it at all - I have used it all over the place in different situations and 'know' it inside out - The action is flawlessly low and hasn't moved since - extremely stable neck - I can play synths and all sorts with it - It has a fairly unique sound, somewhere between a MM and a Status with a bit of Smith - I got her for a paltry £500 - You don't see them often - It has 'seen off' other basses I have had by Alembic, Marleaux, Bacchus, Bossa, Pedulla etc
