I sold my fretless Vigier because I badly needed an amplifier but it was with the understanding that I would buy it back when I was able - a year or so later I bought her back, it was a classic reunion.

I KNEW it looked like something! I think I will definitely have to nickname it the Barbeque!
Thats pretty nice ped, when do you think your going to have it by? I imagine that would be versatile enough for anything, and considerably easier to move around then an amp and that gear, for instance my 50 watt is up to my knee, weighs a ton, and is a bugger to move because of the top mounted handle. Zach
Hi mate, I have the 'rig' so to speak but need the box to be made. I am having trouble finding someone and the time to let them have the bits in order to make it, but I am actually considering making it myself. I have my own garage now don't you know but I will probably make a balls up of it. All being well I will have someone working on it within a week. It should be a superb flexible little box. If I do use an amp at venues etc then I can take the necessary cable from the unit to that amp anyway as well as DI and IEM which I have done before a few times and this always sounds brilliant. Cheers ped

I forgot to add to this when Lee-man bought a pedal from me - very pleasurable experience, cheers!

I think the contact is 'made' when the neck sits in the pocket as the contacts are on the heel of the neck and in the pocket itself, so it is easy to remove the neck etc. When I took Miss ped to Bass Day (kind of me, no?) she saw a bass with LEDs in it and said 'god, what a chavvy bass' which made me laugh. I kind of agree! -
Yep, 100%. I love it. With my very delicate post-op back I realised that an amplifier FULL STOP was a bit of a no-no. I used to use a full on Mesa 400+/1516BE rig and more recently a Trace V4 and though I loved them both I was the only person who benefited from the sound live and in the studio I don't use them. I quickly realised that IEM was the way for me and I have never been happier with my sound. The basic sound is the Vigier bypassing everything and then the Vbass is set up to switch everything for other 'basses' I can access via the Vbass, which, if you haven't heard me say so already, is the most amazing piece of equipment I have ever heard. My bass now does a better Jazz bass sound than any jazz I have had or played, for example! I will be recording this weekend so will have some samples to post asap... Cheers ped

Mine is basically what I have now, but in a case that I am having made, with a couple of additions. To wit: Vigier basses > Roland Vbass > Line6 pod XT pro > out to IEMs and mixer/PA (Would maybe add a rack tuner and rack mixer) In a case that looks something like this- not a very good picture but when closed up the unit will only be about up to my knee: It will be light and easy to move and cater for my IEM addiction and be excellent for live and studio work. There is a place in Witney, Oxfordshire who I am discussing the case with. It will be made of quite lightweight stuff in flight case stylee. I only adjust the Vbass when mucking about as I can switch between patches and perform basic parameter changes from my bass, so having it up higher will be great. The pod I never really touch as the main setting I have spent so long getting is just amazing so now it functions as a pre-amp basically. Cheers ped

I just had a listen, I like the way they are mixed and they really washed over me nicely whilst I was working, so thanks a lot. Where are you guys from, I would imagine this to be great live music, too. ped

MODERATORS: HEADS UP!!! TOO MANY SELLERS IN TWO MINDS!!
ped replied to Apothem's topic in General Discussion
We discussed that idea but ended up deciding it wouldn't be very productive. Sure, some people might be encouraged to join in, and some may post 10 posts saying '+1' or similar, annoying everyone. At the end of the day if someone signs up to advertise an item, that means more gear for us to look at and buy, and it helps our google rankings when people search for that particular item, and the quality of the forum isn't watered down by making people post when they don't really want to. The more the merrier I say, and if people want to stay in 'items for sale' then fair enough. At the end of the day if the situation got really out of hand we would HAVE to do SOMETHING, but as it is, I can count the number of problems on my hand, and most of these were things that could have been avoided if the guidelines and advice were followed. I think that is quite incredible considering the number of things that are sold and advertised here every day. I like it nice and casual. Easy now ped -
What Zerofret doesn't know about valves isn't worth knowing!

I think flea made every bass he used sound great on the records, with the exception of the Jazz which didn't suit many of the songs on the latest album if you ask moi. I think his best sound is between BSSM and some of the tracks from the album before last using the Modulus. I think the best live sound without a doubt is the Modulus. Nothing cuts with such clarity and tone than graphite imho! ped
He He..World class players there..Loverly mind!!!!
Apparently ped graced many venues in Aberwotsit during 2003-2006! Definitely a bass pilgrimage now!

G77's. I played it at the last bash, just a cool little bass. Not quite as good as French graphite but not bad ;0) ped
Where? WHERE? GODDAMMIT MAN, TELL ME WHERE!!! I think Vigier's are funking STUNNING! Does the BC badge have the same associated advantages as the Blue Peter badge? *edited for spelling*
Hi mate, The address is 10-12 rue de l'abbé Grégoire, Z.A.C. des radars, 91350 Grigny. Probo best to call them on +33 (0)1.69.02.01.01 because I am not sure if they 'do' visits with the public. You can find the place on Google maps and you can see the location - probo time to pop there and play a few basses in the time it will take Miss phil to try a pair of shoez! ped

I found NYC pretty awful bass wise. Only a couple of shops and both were staffed by utter to$$ers. Not sure the French will be any better ;0) Patrice Vigier has his factory just south of Paris, maybe you could visit and take some pictures and earn a Basschat Badge! ped

Well said BigRedX To be honest I have never considered going custom because I see it as sort of a last resort if none of the companies can offer something you like. I would be pretty uncomfortable ordering one in case it didn't do exactly what I wanted, which would be a fairly long shot or at best an educated guess. Obviously this can be resolved by playing several from the stable and mixing and matching qualities and lots of 'face time' with whoever is making the bass but frankly for the legwork involved I think I would prefer to get one off the shelf I can try first! (No disrespect to people who make or buy customs of course, I just don't have the balls or patience) ped

I remember seeing it at the NW bash when it had a standard P pickup (IIRC) - quite an attractive piece of wood, and the neck too. I understand what you mean about the holidays. Luckily I have quite a bit of freelance work to keep me busy during the hols (all my friends are at work and there are only so many magazines to read in WHsmiths) If you ever get really bored feel free to come down to Oxford for a spot of punting with ped ;0)

Very nice Peter - the Darkstar in the P looks nice, that's a new addition isn't it? How do you get your bikes to stay like that? Is there some kind of device? I have three racers in my garage and always interested in funky bike racks etc... ped
Oops! too late for sellotape. How did you get info like that, JT was a year above me at junior school but probably doesn't remember me, there must have only been a certain quata of bass talent issued to our school because I'm still barely adequate. Cheers
That's cool, I will ask him - my best friend's uncle is Simon Le bon so we are 'round his house sometimes. What I didn't realise is that Bernard's bass and lots of other instruments were in the basement once when I went over but I didn't know until my friend mentioned it some time after!!! Do'h Simon played me and my friend the 'new' Duran album which I was struggling to be polite about and a few weeks later they scrapped it (this was in 2004?) which was quite funny! Cheers ped
