  1. Access to the Marketplatz is dependent on paying a fee for items over £50 hence having to add a ‘trade value’ (even if you want to swap).
  2. I’ve only ever had fender flats on a mex jazz years and years ago before I knew what flats were - I just couldn’t understand them at all! I’ve heard good things about them since.
  3. My Squier Mustang has long scale Elixirs on it which fit fine. Granted it’s string-thru body but I’m pleased because they’re the only rounds I use.
  4. Looks great. I think Thunderbird pickups work really well in short scale basses; they have a range that accentuates the thickness of the sound without sounding boxy or harsh. Although mines in the neck position I really like the sound of the birdge pickup on the Epi.
  5. Haven’t Fender always done this though? Today we obsess over minor differences between vintage models - maybe in 50 years time they’ll do the same about those minor differences we see today? No different really, is it?
  6. Sounds like a bridge jazz pickup to me
  7. Maybe your replicant character in the parallel universe plays Warwick
  8. No idea mate I've removed them though!
  9. Hi mate no worries, if I helps I could do a video showing them. Yes I mean the big box silver versions with the foot switch in the left hand corner. The + version has an effects loop and two filter speeds but sounds otherwise pretty much identical, although the gain is different on my + compared to my non-+, I use the + more because the foot switch on the other is a bit hit and miss. We also mustn't forget the new version of the Mutron in the smaller housing, which may be worth trying. I never have as I like pedals that take a battery. With regards to the AF9, I think the only reason they changed to the two knob version was because they could no longer get the fader pots for the old version. I'm told it's identical otherwise. I prefer the look of the two knob version (the little switches are really neat) but had real trouble finding one. I ended up importing one second hand from Spain or Italy, can't remember which. Cheers ped
  10. I’ve got a load of filters and have spent ages comparing them to my Mutron. To me, they key components of the Mutron sound are the range switch and the speed of the filter. The effect can feel quite subtle at times, like the filter is blended with clean but it’s just a very natural sound which lets the instruments character shine whilst filtering it in a very musical way, without being over the top or peaky. The absolute closest is the Maxon AF9. A/B comparison shows the Maxon has a slightly more even response across the strings and it has the advantage of a true bypass and smaller size. However the range switch in high mode sounds the same as the mutron in low mode. I rather like the high mode of the mutron so you can’t get that with the Maxon. But seriously it sounds almost exactly the same and I believe Maxon say it uses the same photocells and components. Next closest is the EHX Qtron/Qtron+ (old big box). They’re often compared unfavourably because - well just because - but I actually find them pretty similar. It’s possible to pretty much match the Mutron sound with one but in general it sounds a bit more ‘peaky’ which can be an advantage with some instruments. I’d quite like to try the Haz Mutron but keep missing them. Have you used a Mutron in the past or heard one somewhere? You can sometimes get serviced ones from Soundgas in the UK for around £1000 but they hold their value.
  11. Great stuff, that's what this place is all about. Awesome looking bass.
  12. Looks great and you must feel relieved to have it all sorted. I’m amazed that nitro checks so quickly - I assumed it happened over a long period of time with temp changes etc.
  13. Why worry about it being period correct? I think a nice sherwood green would look nice with that scratch plate
  14. I really like mine too. I used it as a PA for the work Xmas quiz, the delay effect worked really well when announcing question numbers. QUESTION 2.. 2… 2…
  15. Yeah once you’ve got back into using it the system isn’t too bad but it’s easy to forget how to access certain things or scroll past what you wanted and end up pressing the wrong clicker! It’s quite clever how it all works using just two knobs though tbh but I couple more wouldn’t have gone amiss. I’ve edited the Paul Turner ones mostly just to dial them in for my basses specifically so probably not worth sharing them. I take it you have the latest firmware with those on? If not let me know as I’ve got the file here.
  16. In almost new condition, worn for a few hours max at home. Only selling as I bought the slightly wider version just because my Backbeat fits better. These are really nice straps, fully synthetic (no leather), great stitching and quite lightweight even though they have multiple layers. It also has built in plectrum holders. Full info here: https://www.rightonstraps.com/en/mojo-collection-race-red-strap.html 6cm wide, 95cm - 150cm long Comes with presentation box, sticker and polishing cloth. £35 from Bass Direct plus postage but not boxed or with the extras. I’ll do £30 posted (it’s quite a big box) Cheers ped BTW the colour is a perfect match for a 1966 Fender Mustang Red (Dakota red?) if that helps sway you!
  17. I quite like the look. Headstock suits me fine. Weirdly though I tend to think ‘mudbucker’ designs sound quite hollow and ‘stringy’ to my ears. Like the new Epiphone bass. This Sandberg sounds more usable to me, it has some midrange punch and articulation which to me is missing in the serek demo above. However I’ve played Serek basses and think they sound great so maybe it’s the video.

    What bass?

He says the logo looked like this. Fairly adamant it’s not the logo of the bass above but perhaps it’s sold as a sub brand
