  1. I think the 80ohm are a nice balance between flattering the sound without going too far, and they have a really wide soundstage so they're excellent for playing bass along to a track. It never sounds crowded.
  2. Yeah I used to export the audio and sync in iMovie which was a real pain. But I tried dragging the video into GarageBand and it worked!! Syncing is much easier as you’re able to drag more accurately. Then you export as a video. I looked it up and it’s for adding soundtracks to films so it makes sense. Mine is an old version of GarageBand too.
  3. Thanks 😊 I definitely cringe at some of the mistakes but I’ve now found an awesome way to record using the Moises app to remove bass from the source track and use my work laptop for the video, then sync in GarageBand (which I didn’t realise let you add video!)
  4. I've thrown some Elixir rounds on this thing and it absolutely works. Here's a small clip to demo the sounds (80% neck, both, bridge, neck again, then I turned the Mutron on for a laugh). The tone is about halfway for most of the video - it has a really useful range and mixed with the different pickup flavours it means I have loads of options. It has such a tight and full bottom end, even being short scale and in drop D!
  5. That's great - I saw another Muff mod where someone put the extra pedal INSIDE the case of the Big muff, with the bypass switch poking through a new hole in the housing. If you've ever opened up one of those muffs there's basically nowt in the bottom. I also saw a Mini Qtron where someone folded the bottom section up so it was half the size. Looked pretty cool!
  6. I like the battery block. The plastic swing out battery cages you normally find never seem at home on an expensive bass imo. This looks far more robust.
  7. I’ve got the U500 combo and 250act extension if that’s any help. Briefly because I’m pissed I’d say I’m super happy with the amp, especially the built in compressor and range of sounds available, even if I tend to use ‘classic’ and ‘linear’ modes mostly. My last amp was a Mesa 400+ and matching cab and the Blackstar gives me just as beef.
  8. Normally something of that vintage moves from Tyneside TO Bermuda, but I bet the bass is happy to be in the hands of a busy and talented player such as your good self! Lovey thing, sounds great - a real 'thumbprint' bass!
  9. I’m going to stick my neck out here and say I don’t like it and don’t get it! Also every demo makes the bass super anaemic and thin before the pedal is turned on - well what were you doing before when you played that bass to demo some other pedal where it sounded perfect? Even so I always think the bypassed sound is much better but these boutique fizzy preamp pedals seem to be all the rage at the moment. Just not for me I guess.
  10. Congrats on what looks like a brilliant bash!
  11. Yeah super cool. Did you order them direct or second hand? Didn’t know if they have a UK dealer. Interesting pickup placement in the new one, I’ll have to check out some sounds on their website 👍🏼
  12. I’m getting tempted to get a JMJ as a backup for my 66. For keeping flats on. Now that the 66 has rounds I think they’re staying, it just growls and has so much punch, and with the pickups blended it has a really sweet J bass slap sound which I couldn’t believe came from this bass! I think Gear4music sell the JMJ but not sure if you can order one in to try, or a couple, and choose the best.. would be nice to do that if poss. Sounds like they’re pretty consistent through although I gather there were some issues with incorrectly offset (or not) saddles early on, with some reporting their bridge being slightly off centre to compensate.
  13. Probably easier than now. A few letters back and forth, an cheque and done. And I bet you could drive up to the plane on the runway to collect it!
  14. I’ve just checked that out and it looks like it does a similar thing. Speaking of GitHub I’ve just downloaded a really good YT Music app someone made (as there’s no MacOS app). Works really well and has some useful plugins.
  15. Yeah same but then again in a few years there’ll probably be a free alternative.
  16. I see yeah thanks. My use is definitely more scattergun approach - as soon as I hear a track with a tasty bassline I play along and jam around it and add it to my ‘play along’ playlist. I’m not really deeply ‘learning’ the track as such. I’m interested in making the workflow more seamless so that I can do it quickly when inspiration strikes as opposed to a methodical learning approach. I’m wondering if I can do an AppleScript or something that’ll do it, such as the one I use for opening Shazammed tracks in YT Music instead of Spotify which is the default.
  17. https://www.lalal.ai This website is one that I saw mentioned by Janek G on his YT channel. Looks pretty good but I think it might work out more expensive than just paying yearly for unlimited uploads. Might be worth a trial to compare. I’ve just shifted from Spotify to YT music but now I’m tempted to try Apple Music again because Moises can sync directly with your library of purchased tracks which makes the workflow a little easier. Is that how you do it @Paolo85 is it fairly seamless?
  18. I’m quite happy to pay, but want to know if it’s possible to import the track directly without having to download then upload the track wherever you get it from. Of course I already pay for YT and Spotify music. Both allow saving tracks for offline but I don’t think you can access them out of their platforms to import into Moises. It would be amazing if there was a plug-in that enables you to adjust the mix in the streaming app.
  19. I guess they’re all the same then when it comes to uploading the music. Ah well not to worry it’s quite easy to do.
  20. I see, that’s a pain. I can use a YT music downloader but it would be nice to remove the step. Not all allow YouTube music links and some are poor quality audio.
  21. If I try to import a track with a link it says streaming services are not supported, it needs a local file
  22. Someone told me about Moises which allows you to upload a song and have it analysed - it then lets you remove guitar, drums, bass, vocals, keys - and it’s really accurate and easy to use. It’s also handy that it syncs your library across all your devices so I can be using it in my ‘studio’ and then play along with my mixes using my phone and boss wazas in the lounge. The only drawback is that you have to have the local file to upload. I assume they’re all like that but I just wondered if anyone has tried any similar apps/sites that allow you to put in a link for the track from YT music or Spotify etc? Cheers
  23. Ah yes you might be right about the case. Still, I wonder where the case that it was given has gone? RE the story of a bass.. it's really nice to know the provenance, and I also really like it when a piece of gear has a nice story or super happy buying experience around it, such as a really friendly seller or a good vibe in general (as opposed to a rude seller, initial problems and bad juju) but I don't think i'd pay extra for it as long as the bass plays well. Most important for me are original finish and yes I really like the original case!
  24. I'd definitely want the original case for 20k
  25. It was a slice of hardback book cover! If I was keeping it then i'd probably file the bridge saddles with some abrasive cord instead.
