  1. The people who bring the things in are actors. Otherwise how do they know which ‘experts’ to have in hand on a filming day, and make sure the show isn’t just people handing over DVDs?
  2. Exactly. We’ve all typed out a message on a mobile and realised it’s full of mistakes later. Not a big deal! Here’s my new strap, anyway!
  3. I did double check tbh!!
  4. Bought a strap from them on Sunday evening and it came today, very good
  5. The earliest Passion basses had wider horns as you can see on this bass. They narrowed them down a bit in around 1988 I think or thereabouts
  6. I might be wrong but I’m 99% sure the passion entered service with a graphite neck and never had the wooden neck/metal laminate that the Arpege had until the series II instruments.
  7. Whoops slight edit, need to up my typing technique
  8. This really is a Bc first. I’m happy to judge the competition and offer a cash prize. Just let me know your bank details @peteb
  9. The most I've spent is £3500 but as we all know, that's the same as £3500 sitting there in the bank doing nothing. If I can buy an instrument ('Functional art') and enjoy it, and it holds or increases in value, why not? I don't think I'll have £3500 to play with again for a long time but I don't regret any expensive bass I've had. Technically I'd pay anything if I had the liquid funds and was confident I could sell it for the same. In fact most of my 'bass wealth' came from buying two very ice instruments at a bargain price back in about 2003, a Medulla MVP and a shell pink 1975 RI P bass. I realise the above is about used basses and the OP is probably referring to brand new, in which case I honestly don't think I'd ever buy a brand new bass (same as with a car).
  10. A fair point, IMO. Not sure why there's so much negativity - if you don' like it, don't buy it! I think if you're already considering a Bongo then this is only a small step further and as the seller says in the description, a blank canvas to do more mods/refinish etc as desired.
  11. Thanks guys for the comments. I’ll look into how to do a better recording now that I have the basics down.
  12. You just want the usual late night video calls? 😂
  13. I recently picked up a Prunes and Custard pedal. It's fantastic for synth sounds but does a lot more besides. Here it is mixed with some clean bass. I love how pops and harder notes come through more cleanly so you can really have fun with little fills that 'poke through' the synth, even if you do balls them up. The track is 'Mile High' by Raquel Rodriguez, very nice groove I'll probably make a new topic about this but any tips on syncing video and audio in iMovie? I tend to take the video on my phone and record in Garageband then import both. It takes a lot of shuffling about and sometimes like in this video it goes out of sync at the end?!
  14. Don't know how I've only just seen this but WHAT that's amazing, one of those basses you can almost feel you can play through the screen! Will go back now and read through the entire thread as I'm interested in the pickup
  15. The suspense!! Thanks - I know Trustpilot probably game it to make people say 'come and give us a review' but it does seem like a heavily weighted system where one bad review has a big effect, and you can't report them unless they fit very specific guidelines.
  16. Hi folks, Another plea for reviews if you have a few minutes. Just had a 1 star review from some very annoyed person who has slightly overreacted to an email which was sent to them (admittedly in error, it seems). For some reason that's brought our average score down massively despite having lots of 5 start reviews. The whole site is a scam tbh! (trust pilot, not us!!)
  17. I really like it for a squelchy synth tone, and if I do a 'pop' on the strings it comes through nearly clean so it works really well like that, especially with the blend dialled back so it adds a subtle fatness to the clean sound. I use it like my Bassballs, low sensitivity, digging in for accents with a muted palm attack.
  18. Update! Just got a Prunes and Custard pedal - one randomly came up for sale locally and the guy dropped it off at work for me the next day! It’s fantastic, it has the same sort of response as a Bassballs (which I’m a fan of) but with a really wet and scattered distortion sound. I also got a Qtron + which I bought a while ago but has been delayed. Sounds quite different to the Qtron I think, will need to properly compare. Also seems a bit noisy in some modes but I’ll give it a proper going over at the weekend. I spent ages comparing the Mutron to the Maxon and what threw me a bit is that the low mode of the mutron sounds the same as the high mode of the Maxon. Once I worked that out (they must affect different frequency ranges) I got them sounding identical. You might think it’s crazy but I’ve even been thinking about a pedalboard with 6 of my faves, probably one of those that doesn’t require Velcro. I can leave the shelf at home!
  19. It’s a nice tight growl on that REAR pickup! (Bridge!). Mick Karn always copied me so that makes sense.
  20. These two are becoming my go-to.. they cover pretty much everything and couldn't be less alike! Celinder J-Update Fender Thunderstangbacker
  21. Here you go, sorry it's not that good but gives you an idea of what it might sound like with someone skilled playing it!
  22. Finally got round to doing a video of this bass, apologies for sloppy playing etc but I really wanted to show some of the sounds!
