  1. Hm I can’t remember the ins and outs of it but I think the OMG mode is effectively putting a cap in front of one of the coils. Kind of like my Tbird pickup in humbucker mode. Single coil switches one off completely which sounded nice with two pickups.
  2. An MFD would be fun in a Mustang. The MFDs I had in my L2000 had one hotter coil which gave a great P sound which is partly why I went for this Tbird pickup. I presume the one in the Fallout is the same? Of course with the scratchplate covering the body you can have a nice big channel routed and try a few different ones until you’re happy, then get a new scratchplate.
  3. Sounds very similar to the PJ setup before it (so like a really grunty P bass) but with more body and no ‘plonk’ so to speak! With both pickups it’s a really sweet plinky J with flats. It’s ideal, honestly better than I expected. The pickups were a halfway house between educated guesses as to what would suit and the necessity for them to fill the old gaps. The neck pickup in particular is very clever; it’s a dual coil with one coil hotter than the other and it’s splittable. The bridge pickup is really powerful and balances with it just right as I was advised by the maker (Gemini Pickups in Wales)
  4. This one (not so much a build thread, more of a modding thread!) https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/471651-modding-a-66-mustang-really-really/
  5. Just in case you weren’t following the build thread, here’s my Thunderstangbacker
  6. Thanks! I can see the numbers on the P pick-up correlate with those dates. How about the J being from 1970, how did you know that?
  7. I will have time to properly play it tonight but so far it's the same as before but more balanced, more grunt and of course everything is straight! The addition of the splittable humbucker in the neck gives so many options. In humbucker mode it sounds pretty much the same as the P pickup did, something I've always quite liked about Tbird pickups which don't get enough love IMO. The bridge is a lot more balanced volume wise with the neck, it does a beautiful parpy sound with tons of fundamental, and mixed with the front it gives a sweet 60s jazz with flats sound. Split the front and balance 50/50 and it opens up a bit more towards a 70s spacing sound with a really woody growl. So happy with this thing.
  8. Hi guys @Andyjr1515 took these out of my Mustang bass and I/we wondered if anyone knows about them. Apparently they were fitted in the 70s, and they have quite clear number son the back. Any information would be great, I know some people obsess over stamps and numbers! Cheers ped
  9. It’s even better than I hoped. Just had 10 mins with it and it’s perfect. More later! Of course huge thanks to Andy for his simply fantastic work
  10. As soon as it says it’s in the depot after clearing customs, ring Parcelforce and pay the duty over the phone. If you wait for the letter it’ll be about three days until it arrives (if Royal Fail aren’t on strike)
  11. Also, I have the same lamp as you. Hang on, is that my dining room?
  12. @Andyjr1515 what can I say - that looks superb. And all done in what, two weeks? Can't wait to see it in person and give it a whirl.
  13. They used to be vol/vol but I changed them to balance and tone (with a nice paper in oil cap and a no-load setting when fully open).
  14. I like the DT770 Pro but @bubinga5mentioned the open back version which are probably even better but I need a bit of isolation so I don’t hear my Backbeat rumbling.
  15. Yes Warwick Streamer. The original Basschat (Bassworld) had a Warwick Streamer in the logo and it was very popular then. I’ve always loved the sound of them. I was big into Incubus at the time. Sounds like a great idea 👍🏼
  16. Quite quoted myself lol 🤴
  17. Also when playing bass along with Spotify etc I don’t want too much bass from the track otherwise everything gets quite ‘crowded’. The Beyers have a lovely open soundstage which sounds just like plying in a mix.
  18. Exactly. For playing bass I like the Beyers as they sound exactly like my recorded bass does but they don’t flatter music via Spotify etc. For that I like my Grado SR60 or if there’s anyone nearby (the grados are nearly as loud from the outside as the inside!) my Bose AE2W. On impedance- my friend tried my 80ohm cans and his laptop was ok but his iPhone with lightning converter at full volume didn’t provide enough power for satisfactory volume.
  19. A friend at work wanted to buy some decent headphones so the only way he could do that was to ask everyone to bring theirs in. We did a bit shootout and he ended up buying the Beyers. We did say that a high end headphone shop (‘Headphone House’) would be a great business. You could run it from a van!
  20. That would be amazing in theory but finding somewhere with a number of similar high end types in stock is nigh on impossible. If shops do have headphones they tend to be lower to mid range and their idea of high end are Beats by ‘Dr’ Dre
