  1. Cheers that was with the 'mix' at 10 O'clock. Seems to be the sweet spot with this bass, so that slaps and pops emerge out of the drive relatively clean. I'll do some other samples with different levels of drive and dynamics.
  2. You can borrow it if you like, I'm not really in a rush to sell it and might not bother actually... let me have your address and I'll send it over
  3. Since listing it I have spent more time with it and cooked up some really nice sounds. It definitely feels more organic and rich than the FI and C4 I had, but the menu system is quite convoluted - it's OK once you're used to it but having not used it for a while I really had to re-learn how it works! Luckily I quite enjoy that sort of thing when I'm in the right mood.
  4. I'd also suggest the Crowther Audio Prunes and Custard - it only does a couple of sounds, but it can sound amazingly synthy. No tracking or latency and because you can blend in some clean mix, and because of the way the filter reacts, you can accentuate certain parts of baselines which poke through the synth sound. It's so natural to play and hugely responsive to touch.. play super light and it's a warm 'whomp', dig in and it splutters. Quick demo here
  5. Any takers at £180? Seems a shame to have this knocking about on it's own!
  6. Bump, will take offers especially if collected

    BOSS Waza Air Bass.

They are fine with all my basses except one - my Celinder makes a ticking sound every second or so. Fine if I send the signal from bass to my backbeat then to the sender though. No idea why.
  8. Watched that film today, randomly
  9. The ultimate single bass case? This super solid case will fit a P, J or MM style instrument. It has a nice squashy handle which is for once located in the right place so the case balances nicely. It's quite heavy but built for life on the road. All aluminium and inside there's a nice soft material. You can see some area in the pics below where glue has been used to stick down a piece of loose material. The lower bout has a sort of L shaped piece of softer foam which means a range of basses will fit securely. I used it with a Stingray, Celinder J and G&L P, all slightly non standard Fender shapes but near enough. I'd much prefer collection from York or nearby. I could post but it might be a bit expensive, I can supply details if you want to get a quote. Cheers ped
  10. There once was a guy called Paul He didn't like the smell of his bass at all He took it pieces and washed of the faeces and now he’s telling us all Damn I re used ‘all’
  11. EHX Qtron+ has a slow attack setting and fx loop, could work well…
  12. This works for older ones https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/fender/fender.htm
  13. I mean it's obviously a bad one which he/his pal could return for replacement, and some of the others look like they're out of alignment a bit too, but presumably most of them are fine and they sound quite nice if that's your thing. I think he's being a bit sensationalist to gain some traffic, and who can blame him - but it does feel a bit OTT! Are the magnets in the pickup actually bars? if so then a 5 string pickup would have looked better. It does surprise me that there's any latitude for these to come out of the factory 'wrong' - does that in fact show that there's less cookie cutting going on that we think, or do they just keep nudging the router on the way to the break room?
  14. Ah yes I was forgetting that the GK system does COSM modelling with no latency for many of the synth + effect sounds (which I used far more) as well as PCM for some of the more random sounds, which do have some latency.
  15. Or a Roland GK system (with a GR55 or GR20) - no latency but you need a special pickup
  16. That's odd, I thought the tuners must have been added and they didn't realise the Mustang ones are shorter.
  17. ...then some bright spark realised that if you wrote 'L@@K, VINTAGE - RARE LAWSUIT PRE CBS LIMITED SIGNATURE 1of1 MINT' you could sell it for twice as much as it went for in the first place. Magic!

    Vigier Porn!

Here was mine. I'm not sure when the teardrop shaped soft zip cases started but I think a bit later. Great cases though, super secure (bit not much lighter than a full hard case!)

Superb!! I have a review of that bass written in a strange language, thought you may be interested to see it. The case doesn't look like the original (the one I had was rectangular) but it does seem to fit quite well - so maybe it is in fact a super early original case? Do you know? 20. Hm it does sound thin and ‘out of phase’ in blended setting. I get the feeling it’ll sound better with flats too. Bridge pickup sounded nice - I’m starting to really like Tbird pickups!
  21. Here are some comparisons posted by someone on TB. 1966, a Japanese reissue and a JMJ
  22. Cheers, luckily it was pre modded so I didn’t have to feel bad about it. I used it live for the first time last weekend and the range of sounds is crazy - I don’t know if the short scale accentuates it but changes in the pickup pan, tone control and hand position yielded so many sounds each of which worked perfectly in a mix.
  23. Just put some Elixir rounds on the Squier. They fit fine, no problem winding the E string around the post. I really like my 'stangs. Notice how the body shape has changed over time - the Squier has a more rounded bottom. I think the JMJ is the same; more body behind the bridge. For £300 the Squier is great, the fretwork is fine and needed only a slight fettle, and the tuners are ok, a bit rough but they hold tune well.
  24. Ok we get it. That’s enough trolling for one day.
  25. I have a 1970 Jazz bass pickup for sale. Taken from my modified 1966 mustang. Resistance is 6.61K and it sounds great. 9cm long which I think makes it a neck pickup, although it can be used in the bridge too of course. P pickup in the pics has sold. Cheers
