  1. They did suggest buying some of their Wonder Wipes but honestly the strings were rusty in areas I hadn't even touched, I was worried about tetanus. Perhaps they don't like the air in York! I'm glad they work for you though.
  2. It’s a shame because I think they sound really nice but I guess this might be why nobody else uses cobalt!
  3. Email reply from Ernie Ball: "If the bass set was rusted/corroded when you opened a new packets this would be considered a defective set. However, if the rust has developed corrosion from playing then this would not be considered a defective item" Who are they trying to kid?!
  4. Panda Audio Future Impact, new condition, boxed, with Roland UM-ONE MK2 interface £190 Needs no introduction! I think it's on the most recent firmware, In excellent condition, the synth pedals haven't left the studio and have been carefully attached to my stand using ties (they've never even been stood on!). FI looks a bit dusty but all good otherwise. Cheers ped

    NPD T-Rex Bass Juice

Only just been able to try this at volume and I'm super happy with it. Really rich distortion with a fuzz like characteristic when driven really hard. The character of the bass comes through really clearly. I don't know if it's because the bass is Danish as well as the pedal but it just sounds fantastic with my Jazz, from a Geddy kind of grind and upwards. The Boost switch is great fun too. The lows seem to 'bloom' and there's no loss of bass or boxy overtones.
  6. Factor in 25% on the total price including postage and you’ll be in the right area, and may pay a bit less.
  7. My little mustang is now blend/tone which is super 👌🏽
  8. We always advise not to use F&F 👍🏼
  9. My similarly modified ‘66 mustang is 56 years old tomorrow 🎂
  10. We’ll three months later they’re properly rusty after very light home use. Sort it out Ernie ffs
  11. I started out on a P, and worked my way ‘up’ to modern sounding active basses from the likes of Pedulla, Vigier, Smith etc. then I came back down again via a Stingray and jazz to a P again, then back up to a point where I’m happy to own a range of instruments and enjoy what they all do individually. I like the idea of having ‘my’ bass and a unique signature but more often I’m realising it just depends on my mood. Currently I’m playing only my Mustang, but in a month I’ll be gagging for some Stingray, then I’ll probably spend some weeks on a J. Each time it’s like discovering a new instrument and helps inspire me to play.
  12. All things considered if you don’t intend to use an extension I’d get the non pro. It’s probably lighter too. I’d just like to add how annoying it is when a company won’t answer emails but they respond on social media straight away. That aside, I think the Eich stuff is great 👍🏼
  13. Love you too 😛

  14. I think lots of us are sleeping with your wife
  15. Looks like Harry Enfield there!
  16. Fantastic! I’ll have to check if I have any in my old drive. That’s kiwi in the second pic sitting down with his Smith. Man I was skinny in those days. Take me back!! Thanks for sharing the pics Nik
  17. Love the ATK by the way, and the case it comes with looks amazing. Nice that Ibanez go to those lengths, you get a lot for your money.
  18. Internal dimensions are here https://www.fusion-bags.com/collections/urban/products/urban-bass-guitar-gig-bag It would probably fit, the ATK has a 2+2 headstock and not much body behind the bridge
  19. I think the Fusion Urban is the best for protection, mostly because the internal 'noodle' can be stuck into position in such a way that it completely fits the contour of your bass, just like your hard case. Oh I'm selling one, fancy that! Seriously though it's so satisfying putting a bass into the case when it fits perfectly! Here's an example to show what I mean: That means you can stuff a few pedals in there between the edge of the bag and the noodle... Here's the one I'm selling if you're interested https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/468025-fusion-urban-bass-gig-bag-will-post/#comment-4793901
  20. Yes still available and I’ve found the internal cushion too.
  21. I know you’ve already said but for that amount of dosh and to really know what you like best and be forever* satisfied, I’d go there. 2 hours there, make your mind up, the two hours back will fly by as you glide home safe in the knowledge that you’ve got the right one. I like the grain on the ‘85 headstock. If you’re using rounds I’d go for rosewood and maple for flats IMO but these could be different!
  22. I’ve just collected the Mustang from the workshop. The controls are now blend and no-load tone. Honestly it’s made a really big difference. Technically I’m not sure why but the blend gives a much more usable range of sounds which keeps each pickup ‘in play’ for a wider range. The front/back/both settings were distinct before but in between settings the favoured pickup would take over. But now I can really dial in a bit of snap from the J ‘to taste’ The tone control is fantastic - at full it’s as it was before, bright and cranky. From around 9 down to 3 there’s a really usable range with a nice sounding roll off as you go, then it gets very dark from 2-1. I’ve been playing my stingray for the last week whilst it been away and it felt massive! I got used to it again but now the mustang feels tiny again. I really missed it!
  23. Tbh unless it's something you can't get elsewhere or that you REALLY want, I'd definitely claim back via PayPal and explain it as 'item not received' - the tracking will show that it hasn't, so you'll be golden.

    Amp to flat

A good sound! I think it’s always good to know what your amp sounds like ‘neutral’ so you can understand the gear better. Then when you add EQ you know whether you’re fighting to get away from the baked in tone or adding to a sound you already like.
  25. Here’s a graphic I found. I’m sure it’s not 100% true to scale and angle but you can see what I mean. Btw I’m not sure the ‘66 is accurate as they didn’t come in blue and the earliest ones have a more offset shape like the bass in the middle. I might be wrong but it also seems that the new Squier mustangs with the competition stripes have less rounded body edges than the CV Squiers without the stripes?
