Nice, I’ve used mine for around an hour a day for over a year and it feels really weird playing without it now!

Just had an update RE the Backbeat G2 It will use a user replaceable 18650 battery giving more power and charging will be via USB3! Still sounds great - I’ve put myself down for the pre order in Feb. Waiting on info re cabling maybe next.

Just found it does eventually work if you leave it for several minutes. But still. Mind you this machine is on Catalina and an older version of Safari

It does on my phone, but desktop it loads the first part of the page then seizes. So the 'New Arrivals' age shows a few Spectors, then I scroll down and it's all white, then it freezes. Mind you this Mac is pretty ancient and it's not it's only problem!

Yes the G&L SB basses do feel like sleeker and more refined versions of their ancestors. My old SB1 with flats is like a pair of ancient jeans that feel like a second skin, combines with a pair of warm slippers. When I pick up the Stingray (pre EB slab body) it feels like a right chunky sod, but I love that about it, and for me the hand position is really comfortable - the bass isn't even very heavy, so that's lucky. I'm not that sensitive to neck width or profile, but do really appreciate the rounded feel of a played in neck.

I really wish they'd do a better website! It doesn't even work on Safari, at least on my desktop.

Me too tbh. I’m all about pretty flat EQ, compressor and touch of reverb and that’s me. I have a patch for each bass ‘clean’ Just tried the live sets thing and it doesn’t work like I expected (changing the six patches you can cycle through to a different ‘set’ - instead it seems to give you more presets to select but by going through the library section. Tbh the app could use some work, but like you I rarely need to open it so it doesn’t bother me 👍🏼 -

Just made a nice little stand for them! Used an old laptop stand which has rubber inside to protect the contents. Also put some command strip on the side of the big, stand and headphones so I can snap them together when required. Wife isn’t impressed for some reason -
A couple of people were banned from Basschat years and years ago - I can't really remember why but it was all a storm in a teacup I think which got blown out of all proportion... so the guy went and set up Finnbass which I was told would steal all of our active membership within a year. It didn't, and seemed to me to be a place built initially for people to go and complain about Basschat (I was banned for some reason, I think I signed dup to defend myself against a totally untrue accusation) It was a really useful place for us actually because every time someone kicked off or disagreed we would be able to say 'hey, join Finnbass, you'd like it' - and they did for a short while. But once the anger had died down there was little else left, with one or two members in particular really flogging a dead horse to try and.. well, I don't know what. I didn't have a problem with the founder (we spoke about his beautiful staffie Spike a few times) but it was interesting to read some of the perspectives and views held by the members about us. We probably learned a few things along the way. It's a shame it's gone; I thought the owner was moving to a new forum system to cater for a wider range of equipment but maybe not. All water under the bridge for me, anyway. Coming next - Bassworld - Basstalk - Basschat - the FBI Files ped

Has anyone tried the ‘live sets’ feature in the library section? Currently I’m using each stored channel 1-6 for clean patches of each bass, but wondered if the live sets could be made for each bass individually and then use channel 2-6 for that bass with certain effects? It doesn’t really explain that in the manual (and I’m not interested in downloading or sharing my patches) -
I think the EWS Stormy Bass Drive is amazing. Really clever pedal with such a usable range of sounds and useful controls. I'd love a BMC2 but can't find one at the moment!

Sorry I forgot to update. Padding is about 30mm from outside bag to inside. The foam is quite stiff and feels up to the job. Let me know if you want anymore pics of anything in particular. One thing I’ll say is whilst the bag is comfy it does wear quite high. But then the ones that sit lower are a pain. I think it’s a good all round bag for the price!

This thread has been decimated by the photobucket hosting grab - maybe we should start a new one?

This thread could do with a bump!! I just saw that there’s a fretless Kiloton Tribute now. Sounds great:

The he gets all the way home and says ‘I don’t like roundwounds’ 😂

Lovely stuff and nice pics too. Reckon we could do a Northern Bash there? I’d be up for that!

Oh and you know I'm the pickiest person in the world when it comes to noise? These are fantastic in that regard, but because of the bluetooth-ness you can occasionally hear that kind of digital shrill chattering in the left cup when you're not playing anything. I assume that's the receiver in the cans and isolating that would be a challenge with everything else jammed in there. -

Still loving mine. I use it all the time especially in the lounge. I think I’ve got my basses pretty much dialled in now. I rarely plug the transmitter straight into a bass; instead I plug it into the Backbeat pack. However I did plug it straight in to my Celinder the other day and it emitted a rhythmic pulse at about 80bpm constantly, whilst the bass itself could be heard underneath fine. It was fine having the backbeat in between. So I’m not sure what’s going on there - the pre in the Celinder is 9v but quite unusual I suppose - I could try changing the dip switches as maybe it’s something to do with that? I almost never use the 3D setting - I find it a bit too strong - if you turn your right ear away from a real amplifier you can still hear it in your right ear quite a lot, whereas in this mode the headphones make it too quiet in the furthest side. I also find the headphones a tiny bit tight on my (big) head - I’ve stretched the metal fingers that hold the cups a little bit to ease some of the pressure which has worked ok. Finally I think the headphones slightly lack treble and boost the low mods a little. This is apparent when playing music into them but also when I transfer settings across from my VB99 which has, from what I can tell, identical patch parameters to these. On that I use Beyer DT770s which are very flat and unflattering for listening to music but playing bass through them (and on top of music) sounds like you’re doing so in a very natural sounding way, rather than a crowded soundscape. Once I pinpointed that with the WAZA it’s easy to compensate with a slightly higher compressor ratio and lower threshold and by EQing the upper mid and bass parts of the signal to match as closely as possible. And all in all, I like using them for streaming music as regular headphones so I’d rather that have a more flattering sound for that. Mine have been absolutely rock solid, I’m so happy with them and think only a couple of tiny things would make them absolutely perfect: - adjustable ‘pressure’ on head - audio output/through mode - software could be more intuitive especially when it comes to banks and effects - 3D-ness is a bit too strong (see above) - It would be useful to have somewhere to store the transmitter on the headphones; some sort of clip or Jack which doesn’t engage said transmitter. Using the case is only so practical day to day -

It helps with dexterity 😂

To the sound? It’s nearly everything. My fingers don’t make much nose otherwise. To the way that sound is played? A bit, a lot comes down to feel and inspiration!

With the WL20 can you leave the receiver plugged in/charging whilst it’s in use (or is the WL50 for doing that)
