Thanks! Yeah it looks complicated but I don’t mind learning how to navigate complex menu systems (vbass user!) and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. I’ll probably not change any settings or saves for a while but I guess I’ll reset and update it when it arrives (how do I check current firmware and is updating easy?) I’ve got loads of old 2gb cards as my favourite camera (Epson RD1) uses them so that should be ok 👍🏼 I’m sure I’ll be asking you lots of questions! Have you used yours on batteries? What’s the life like?

...just bought one. Should be fun to play with... I have just looked at the manual and it all looks logical enough, and tbh I much prefer not having to use the computer for things like that. Two main reasons for buying - it sounds amazing and runs on batteries, even with a 'save battery life' mode... seems like a great design and should be interesting to compare to my Future Impact. I wondered if anyone here has had one (I seem to recall someone has?) Cheers ped

I think Mayones have such an option on their mini Cali basses (and presumably their full scale basses too) I won't go into detail about my love for headphone setups but will just add that any such system can be made 100% amazing by using a backbeat or similar tactile feedback device. Paired with a great headphone mix you'll hear and feel exactly what you want.

I presume they’re referring to the Roland GK2B pickup as multi channel, which it technically is, but it will only output that latency free to a Roland GK device or a ‘breakout box’ which will output each string separately but the box pictures doesn’t look like such a device. The other way it’ll work is through a MIDI device but there’s a bit of latency as that requires pitch to midi conversion (the Roland pickup is often incorrectly called a midi pickup)

For me it depends on the instrument, and it takes time to get used to the feel and sound sometimes. If I’m slapping rounds on a 70s Jazz one day then I pick up my P with flats it feels like I’m twanging bands on a box, but after a little while the ear and fingers get accustomed to the quiet majesty and expressive tone of the silky little sods.

I have never tried both on the same bass, but from memory Tis feel a bit rougher under the fingers, more like a metal, and are quite floppy. Once strung up they are nice and woody sounding and comfortable to play. I really liked them. The only Labellas I use are the light ones, which feel very similar as far as I remember. Don't think you can go wrong with either.

Very kind of you! Thanks! Not really; the bass signal is going into my VB99 but the ‘patch’ for my bass is basically clean, some limiter set for a high threshold that helps the bass sit nicely. The amp sim is ‘super flat’ and I’m pretty sure nothing is more than a tiny bit away from dead centre. When I play this bass somewhere else it sounds the same into a different desk or amp 👍🏼

My Mutron has taken over. I really thought it would be hyped up and (after a couple of previous experiences) just had to check one out for myself, making sure I could return it. I didn’t! I love everything about it, it properly lives up to the reputation. It just sounds so warm and greasy. I did a thread with a sound clip somewhere. What I like most about it is using it in high range, which leaves your bass sound quite neutral u til you dig in or accent notes which get seamlessly dripped in funk in a way that just feels so ‘musical’ which I know is one of those stupid words like heft but it just works!

I actually sold the pedal and bought it back again because I realised that it was a big mistake (and I’m sort of helping Franco design the new version). Good question re the filter on its own. I spent some real time with it today because I’ve never spent long enough learning what the range and attack knobs do because they definitely interact in an unusual way. I’ve got it dialled in just right now with my stingray. It’s been great comparing it with my other filters - I can get pretty close to the high band squelch I like if the Mutron (I usually use high mode) and I really like the way that it responds with a very quick decay. It’s quite easy to go wild and it doesn’t do subtle as well as the Mutron which just sounds warm and greasy all the time. I’m finding the octaver tracks better than my OC2 actually… again it sounds a bit different to my ears, maybe less synthy and a bit sharper. The ‘synth’ knob (square wave) gives a crunchy edge. Used solo with dry signal only it sounds like a fuzz, quite looking forward to trying that live. Three pedals in one…

I usually play Elixir 40-95s tuned to D, so like low tension and low action for a bit of clank. I suggest you give LaBella 760FX a try, they're 39-100 or something like that, and feel very similar in tension to the rounds on my other basses. I haven't tried the LTFs but they're probably a good shout, too.
