  1. He wanted a quick rig rundown before he gave the OK. If you told him you played a Rik he'd have put you in an induced coma forever
  2. AH great that's good to know. I'll update mine. I might sell it now though tbh...
  3. I have one of those too, and I did a review here somewhere. You're right, it's pretty cool. And ideal for a practice tool. The limitations for me were the noise, the lack of a limiter and the wire. Neat little thing though for the price, and streets ahead of the previous plugs I tried from Vox. The Rolands are well worth it though if you play along with music a lot at home and want a super hifi experience. When I say the NUX is noisy, it's actually pretty quiet and a great little thing for the price, but there's a definite noise behind your notes when playing (almost like it's noise around the transmitted signal) which is offputting if you intend to use it in the way I had envisioned (i.e as a 'go to' headphone setup) but excellent as a travel accessory/fun 'now and then' type device, and largely not noticeable when playing with music. It was frustratingly close to being amazing for my needs. Weirdly the reduction of wires to a single one from plug to headphones somehow made that single wire more annoying. But yes, for the price, it's awesome.
  4. The transmitter can be any WL20 which you pair by inserting it into the 'phones. Not sure about replacing the battery in the headphones themselves, but assume they have a pretty decent service life. I'll ask if it's replaceable down the line.
  5. I see you have a nice FEA compressor - the Roland Limiter 'effect' which is on my VB99 and these headphones is amazing, and has seen off my FEA and Cali big box.
  6. Yes they can, and they're excellent - very comfortable and easy to listen to. Relatively flat although slightly more pronounced lower midrange as you might expect, perhaps some slight attenuation at the very top end - but that results in a very non-fatiguing listen and when using your bass you have access to a whole range of EQs to get the exact sound you're looking for. I have recently switched from Spotify to Apple Music and some of the albums I have in my library are mastered differently which has made comparisons a bit more tricky but I'm hearing every detail - 50mm drivers designed specifically. They also go extremely loud, even with your own instrument if you want them to - without distortion. As I mentioned I have set up my Stingray so far with a near identical sound to my existing setup and I can wander around the house with complete freedom from wires or ridicule (but only because I can't hear it!)

  8. Volume pull gives a boost. You need to pull the knob next to the vol to engage the sweepable mids.
  9. Yeah only messing. Tbh one of the reasons I don’t do reviews in return for free stuff (get offers quite often) is that it’s really hard and I like to be honest. Otherwise you end up like the magazines that give everything 5 starts to keep the advertisers happy!
  10. Wasn’t mine proper enough? 😂
  11. I’m pretty sure I’d be filing down G saddles on a HB too, but I’m weird like that 😂
  12. FWIW I gave it to a colleague at work who’s been really enjoying it
  13. I’m pretty sure ‘out of the box’ the setup would have suited a lot of people. I’m just very picky about a super low action and almost zero relief and I couldn’t begrudge this bass for not allowing that right away - I’ve had basses ten times the price that wouldn’t either!
  14. I assumed that too but I’m sure I read it in the app manual (writing to receiver) unless they’re referring to the cans as such. I’ve asked the chaps at Boss anyway. The system is amazing though, and just so convenient and easy. 👍🏼👍🏼
  15. I think the settings you save in the app are written to the transmitter, so once you’ve set them up you only need to use the app if you want to change/engage effects or use the 3D settings. Just wondering if that could mean saving a clean patch with my favoured limiter settings and then in the studio simply buying a receiver to bung into the desk. Not 100 % sure if that’s true (maybe the data on the transmitter can only communicate with the headphones?) but have asked anyway.
  16. Yes, pricy but well worth it imo. Should be great at bass bashes too, so you can try other basses using your own wazas!
  17. Mine just arrived!!! Absolutely fantastic. I've had an hour or so to get set up (took 2 mins) and have given everything a very quick whirl. Essentially, I've got everything I love about my beloved VB99 in a pair of headphones (minus the GK pickup stuff). I set everything flat, added a touch of Boss Limiter (same settings I use normally) and a tiny bit of reverb, turned the '3D' effect off, and bang, there it is - a beautifully full and detailed unadulterated bass sound. I had a play with the 3D stuff, which I think will be great, especially when you turn your head and get a subtle impression of an amp in front of you. It paired with my phone for playing along with music and the app itself seamlessly. I will probably use them as headphones even when I'm not using the transmitter. I plugged the transmitter into the output of my Backbeat so I could feel the rumble and it was perfect - of course you can plug it right into your bass, or a pedal. VERY little noise, barely audible and you know how picky I am about that. I'm really really pleased with them. I'll do a full review once I've had a proper play - but this is basically my dream product!!
  18. Elixir solved that problem already 😊
  19. I do t think I’ve ever tried it but reckon I’d like it. I love corned beef which has a similar vibe
  20. I just put in the maximum I’d like to pay when I see something and let god take care of the rest. Normally I lose and end up buying it elsewhere cheaper. Ho hum. Occasionally it works but I don’t stress about it.
  21. Muff gone - I think the Cali has been spoken for too but nothing final yet
