Did I just get fake Elixir nanowebs? Please help check
ped replied to BabyBlueSound's topic in Accessories and Misc
Ah well at least you purchased on eBay, so you can easily get a refund. I'd recommend buying from Stringsdirect or similar in the future just to be sure - yes they might cost more but they do last forever, so a bit of man maths and you'd be silly not to -
Ratio Machine Heads by Graphtech. Any thoughts?

Think they look great and something I'd definitely buy if I was 'modding' a bass... although it looks like they don't cater for the 3+1 Stingray crowd unless you can request the set specially. -

Here’s what you should see at the peg where the string first bends at 90 degrees into the post -
I was going to recommend neoprene 'foam' as it compresses much less, glad it's sorted though

NBD - Unexpected Ken Smith BSR 4WT purchase

Beauty. Smith basses really are in a league of their own and have such a recognisable sound. Enjoy 😊- 22 replies

Boss Waza Air now available for bass. Personal Amp System.
ped replied to dave_bass5's topic in Amps and Cabs
The UI is a little bit odd but it works fine when you learn what does what. I don’t use the virtual surround or anything and my use of the effects in the app is minimal so I actually rarely need to open it at all. -
Noisy P bass when not touching metal parts help needed!
ped replied to Tjhooker's topic in Repairs and Technical
That or shielding (a lack thereof). Not uncommon but easy to fix or have a repairbloke sort for you. My G&Ls suffered from this (they're barely shielded at the factory, no idea why) and once everything was lined and shielded it's silent. -
Awesome I’ve got some Alan Parsons and Supertramp (Paris ‘79) coming. Is there a ‘choice’ Queen concert? Looking at the Rock Montreal and Live Aid disk…

Just a thought - you can sometimes see the coating when you wind the string at the peg, where the windings get stretched. -

I'll take a pic of mine later - they came direct from Elixir so it'll be interesting to compare. They changed the packaging to include the chrome sticker 'seal' to put off counterfeiters at some stage, and I thin fakes are more likely to be found in the old packaging: -

I've been playing them for as long as I can remember and I've never 'seen' the coating - maybe some pictures show the older polyweb coating which IIRC was thicker. £27 sounds like a decent price rather than a total scam bargain, but I suppose time might tell if they last a advertised... -

They look legit to me. How do they sound? I think they feel very slightly 'slicker' than uncoated rounds. I love them. How much of a bargain were they? -

Can you show the box, front and back? You can't see the coating between the windings because the coating is applied to the wound string as a whole. Other brands coat the winding before it is wound around the core, which doesn't work at all IME. -
Thanks, yes I had forgotten about Blu-Ray Audio. Love a bit of Supertramp so will check that out. Weirdly I don't think I've ever listened to the Rolling Stones, at least not properly.

Hi folks I have listened to music over Apple Music and Vinyl for a long time now, and haven't had a CD player for yonks. However I recently got a PS4 and I've realised with excitement that I can dig out my 5.1 mix DVDs which previously I couldn't enjoy fully without a surround setup. Then I realised the PS4 plays Blu-Ray and I don't think I've ever seen one before. I have the amazing Anesthetize blu-ray from Porcupine Tree on it's way, and I think most of the others are on DVD and at my parents house. I wondered if there are any other great Blu-Ray concerts I should get. I'm quite varied in my tastes, and really enjoy watching any musicians perform. Except punk. I can't stand punk. Some faves I have on DVD (but not sure if they're on Blu-Ray) - Gov't Mule - The Deepest End (great selection of bass players, good audio mix) - Muse - Hullabaloo (despite not being a big Muse fan, very good concert) - Primus - Hallucino Genetics - Incubus - Morning View Sessions - Opeth - Lamentations (I remember this being especially good audio quality) - Steely Dan - Two Against Nature - Pink Floyd - Pulse I think most of these are pre-blu-ray so looking for some recommendations

Does anyone with one of those Tourtech cases have a stingray? Would be interested to see how well it fits…
-
Thanks for that. I might wait then as my preference is for a maple neck and I’m not a fan of sunburst. I wish I bought that ‘Prism’ finished vault bass when it was available, it looks great!! Can’t find any real owners online though. https://shop.music-man.com/music-man-short-scale-stingray-bass-micro-prism.html

What’s the deal with these at the moment then, are they bringing out new finishes/options at some point? Any ideas when? I’d like to try one at some stage.
-
Aye maybe. The smaller ones are aux in and headphones out.
-
Presume the side jack slows the pack to be smaller too, in length. Still confused as to why there only appears to be one though 🤔
-
How d’ya mean? Interesting that only one 1/4” Jack is visible - will it handle both input and output?

Seen this? No specs yet but watch this space https://getbackbeat.com/pages/backbeat-g2

You've taken that out of context massively but that's OK. My mum likes Boyzone but can't identify which instrument is which, she doesn't care. I bet not many of Marcus Miller's fans care that the 4" spacing on his jazz is so important. Just like I don't care how beer is made, but I like certain ones over others. That's my point, which is proved by this thread somewhat! I bet Marcus likes his bass the way it is. I bet the back of my beer can talks all about how amazing the water used in the brewing process is. It would be a shame if everyone only produced things that suited a given audience. I've always loved companies that design and make things for a super niche audience, or without one in mind at all, because they love it. That's where the cool stuff lies. And a lot of crap. But that's the thing about art, I guess.

No need to get nasty Personally I totally agree with @4000 like I said, 99.9% of the audience don’t know what’s good for them, in the nicest way possible. But they like it when stuff sounds good. What sounds good is the band as a whole when they’re on form. People play in form when they’re happy with their sound and motivated to play. Other people don’t give a toss and just want to play. Some people even play rickenbackers. And for the record I should think Roger knows what he’s on about and has more hands on knowledge than anyone here, and I don’t think he’s making it up to sell more. I don’t think he needs to.
