  1. Two Yamaha Session Cakes with included linking cables. Priced as a pair (It's best to have two so you can play along with someone else!). Price includes delivery. Cheers ped
  2. This weekend I had my first 'band practice' for a long time. We're spread out over the country (York, Banbury and Preston) so we normally meet at a studio for a long weekend and play/record fairly irregularly, and we don't do gigs - instead enjoying the recording/production side. We play asian inspired fusion, for some reason, which is massive fun. It was the first time I have used my Celinder and Stingray 'live' and also the first time I've tried my Blackstar U500 combo in a live setting for any decent length of time. I was super happy with the amp, so much so that I've ordered the extension cab. It suited each of my basses really well, choosing either the 'flat' or 'classic' voicing and finding the 'Linear' response most pleasing for that particular room. It also has 6L6 and 6550 which were very convincing and will warrant further experimentation. I was most pleased with the SB1 I have been playing mostly over the last couple of years. It was really chewy and clanky sounding, and the following day where we played into desk it just worked perfectly, especially with a new track we're working on where I roll the tone right off until the ending where it opens up and really bites. We had such a great weekend we've decided that Sheffield is fairly equidistant for us all, and will try to meet up much more often in the future. We had such a laugh meeting up and have a lot of humour in our music, too - a language we have been starved of over the last few months. If anyone has any recommendations for good practice room/studios in Sheffield I'd be all ears - we found the place which looks good value for a 6hr slot https://www.practicesheffield.com Cheers ped
  3. Take the springs off and give them a stretch. Or take them off and leave them off! The knot wouldn’t bother me I don’t think - after all the thing is roadworn anyway and it’ll only collect more. I’d just play it I think.
  4. What's the link you're trying to open? We don't have a blogs section.
  5. Hm not really a fan of the look but it’s an interesting proposition. I hope it’s a full carbon neck rather than wrapped wood. Not all carbon is created equal though so using it isn’t a guarantee of anything. They really need to sort out that website and the videos though.
  6. Too much going on there imo!
  7. I think there’s nothing cooler than a modified high end bass. Even if it ruins the resale value. I’ve got this to add - although it HAD to be modified because it came without any electronics. But since then it’s been prodded and poked, it’s got a Roland GK system and a few other things here and there. It probably wouldn’t work for anyone else but that’s ok with me! I’ve owned about five other Vigiers from this period and they are all special, but this one’s ‘mine’
  8. well i loved ur lessonz, wish i could do em 25/8
  9. To be honest I find a really grippy tripod stand every bit as stable as a neck grabbing type where the bass is free to pendulum against the legs.
  10. Kind of depends on the application though doesn’t it? Different stands for different needs

Seemed like at one time you couldn’t move for references to Nolly GetGoOD or dUG PiNniCk whoever they might be 😆
  12. I think a clanky bass with a relatively narrow range makes chords sound more ‘together’ whereas modern neck thru active basses with big tonal range make them sound more spatial and atmospheric
  13. Celinder J-Update Also by a man named Christian from Scandinavia Vigier Passion G&L SB1 Wingbass Stingray
  14. I assume you want a wooden stand because it'll look nicer in the lounge - but my recommendation is for a stand which you can barely see when there's a bass in it. The trouble with the neck grabbing type stands is that you can see the long pole behind the neck from most angles. And the problem with lots of A frame types is that the bass leans back a lot so it takes up more room. The Ibanez PT-32 is great - folds down to fit in a gig bag, nearly flat - and it's really s table with an instrument in and leans back much less than the Hercules Mini. As I say, with a bass in the stand you can barely see the stand at all, so it's visually pleasing too. The only hiccup - it's not great with offset bodies Cheers ped
  15. Quite funny if you play all the clips at once
  16. Fun. Control. Money. No drunk punters pouring lager on your pedals. No useless ‘sound man’. No load in/out. No ‘sex on fire’!
  17. I’ve tried everything too, but everyone wants to play indie covers or punk, which I can’t stand. I’m trying to establish some links at the university where I work, as there’s a number of musicians on staff who might be up for a jam. Perhaps that’s worth a try at the university or college near you. Many have quite generous outreach programmes offering free lessons and so on and may have some useful info. Be prepared for a lot of time wasters though. I put this advert up and a day later had TWO people write to me saying ‘Do yOu wANT to PlaY PunK CovErs?’ https://bandonkers.co.uk/fusion-funk-bass-player-available-york-14177
  18. Guessing not enough sales to justify that. Seems fair enough to me. I buy a 4 string set + high C for my wingbass.
  19. You buy the C string separately like you do the B in a five string set
