    Gear fads

Maybe ‘craze’ is a better word - lots of these examples and my own are still popular after an initial explosion.
  2. Over the years I’ve seen lots of ‘fads’ come and go. I’m not saying the equipment is bad or anything but you know that rush which filters through the community when something is adopted at scale. I’m trying to recall some of the most memorable and wondered what you can think of, considering some of you have been here almost as long as me! The first I remember I think was Thunderfunk amps. Everyone needed one. What else have you got?
  3. Thought it would be more passive
  4. I've hidden all the arguing. It's gone farad enough.
  5. So now I’ve got 7 straps and 4.5 basses 🤪
  6. I just bought a Slapstrap(tm) from a great basschatter. I had one of these fantastic straps back in about 2005 and have no idea what happened to it. It’s perfect for the backbeat because the clips are covered by the section of the strap which opens to allow the placement of the Velcro ‘tail’ - a feature which makes the strap really adjustable. I tried the same sort of thing with a Comfort Strapp but the neoprene section between the backbeat and body absorbed too much of the vibration so this is a great middle ground 👍🏼
  7. Hi folks I've got a few to post this morning - if anyone fancies a set or two get your order in by 11:30ish!
  8. I actually don't use a pedalboard, so I can take pedals on a whim. The three that get the most use which I'd choose (excluding a compressor (either always on on my VB99 or I take an MXR M87 if elsewhere which is nearly as good) EWS Stormy Bass Drive (Tiny, gritty and cutting) Meridian Funkulator (Octave, fizz and envelope) Aguilar Graphe (phaser)
  9. I don't really get it. Play it for what it is - if it's not a Fender, don't call it one. Limelight doing that is crazy IMO, I'd prefer a blank headstock (which they may offer?)
  10. Excellent condition, one or two small scratches on the sides. No box. Includes p&p Cheers ped
  11. Bass -> Backbeat -> someone else's area!
  12. It wasn’t I’m afraid - not sure what it was exactly but it was a traditional shaped jazz
  13. It’s actually more about the feel under the fingers rather than a thumb rest.
  14. I see what you mean but that’s like saying low action is a crutch for those with bad fretting technique.
  15. Love my backbeat. Couldn’t be without one now - feels really odd playing without one!
  16. Great!! Thanks. Will give it a go next week.
  17. To be fair it’s not very clear, it’s not easy to make it clearer using this software! Cheers have a good eve 👍🏼
  18. ‘The rules’ might seem stupid but we have them for a reason - to stop someone paying for a single ad and continuously adding items to the single advert. It happens a fair bit, so hopefully you can see why we can’t allow it even if the person has a full subscription. I assume you were informed and dealt with politely by the team. Cheers
  19. Doesn't work for me... anyone else?
  20. Great! Thanks. Don’t go to any trouble.
  21. Great video, great playing and great sound!! I'd love to jam to the tune if you have the backing track anywhere?
