  1. Really you need a P, J and a MM 🤫
  2. Every time I see a comment here I cross my fingers that it’s good news 😑
  3. All of my basses but it does sound cool with the wing. A nice quirk is when you set the attack just right (which is actually more like a sensitivity control) you can 'beat' the filter when you do a pop on the G string, so you can play a synth filter baseline and accentuate it with clean pops. Sounds cool with the P bass especially.
  4. Give cobalt flats a go on your stingray. They could be made for that bass! Labellas on my P though like a decent person should
  5. Normally players are right handed so the cable emerges on your right, into the right of the pedal in front of you without getting in the way. Some early EBS pedals went the other way but it caused a civil war in Sweden
  6. It’s what drew me to it originally I’ll admit - but then I heard the samples and loved it. With three effects and the way they interact it has tons of sounds in it, some very subtle and some filthy. Most are usable.
  7. It’s like when bass gear always had to include the letter X to make it sound super powerful. My (lovely sounding) Laney bass combo was 60w, called the Hardcore Max!
  8. It’s an octaver, synth and envelope filter. Very flexible. I recently had it repaired. Here’s the thread with some great sound samples. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/445754-meridian-funk-u-lator-fixed/
  9. It’s too nice to step on so I employ a small boy offstage to activate and adjust. It’s made in Italy so you need to be super careful!
  10. That’s an interesting thing - what does it do? Here’s my fave

    Vigier Porn!

That’s a real beauty. Quite an early one with the wider horns and like you say bigger body with bridge mounted further up. I really like the angle around the body edges too. Such a striking grain pattern on that one that really suits the shape. Fantastique! I’ve been buying and advising people on all things Vigier for years and this has to be one of the nicest examples I’ve seen.
  12. This kind of sums up the way a comp helps - listen to the before and after. After doesn't sound squished at all, but it stops those low notes from distorting and overpowering Should start at 1:53, the other samples are a bit poor. Interestingly when he uses the MXR the attack is set too low so you still get those distorted peaks... but the guy at 2:49 has sorted that and cranked the attack which is how I use the M87 too except I squish much less of the signal overall.
  13. Nothing wrong with a fast attack, he set the threshold too low by the sounds of it! To me the perfect setting is a HIGH threshold and fast attack with a high ratio, so that dynamics are unaffected but when you really dig in you sometimes hit the limiter giving a really nice 'front line' and consistent level. I really don't like the seasick volume swelling compressor settings which you tend to hear. I've also sold loads of compressors because the attack isn't fast enough so it's more obvious when the limiter hits.
  14. It’s all about the black crackle! These people probably have a tort doormat

  16. Yes and brass hardware
  17. This would look nice with ashtrays
  18. Agreed. Bordering on bullying now. Everyone shut up 🤫
  19. Nice pics 👍🏼 Bass looks great!
  20. Also a cobalt flats user on my stingray. They could have been made for the bass. They give the right amount of chunky bottom, plasticky string ‘sound’ and snap when popped.

    Gone.

It's a fingerboard cover. I thought it was fretless at first too!
  22. Probably the most comfortable way to play a rickenbacker to be fair
  23. I just bought some camera stuff from Sweden. It was cheaper to buy two separate orders with premium DHL postage than do it as one and pay duty. Ordered Sunday, here on Tuesday (bearing in mind the bank holiday!) Does anyone know if the import duties on used goods will be reviewed? I heard an MP hinting at it online somewhere but anyone know for sure?
