1.
Push pull pickup cut on each volume, no new holes, all of the options, plus mute.
I like this option. Push down so they look normal is on, pull up is off. Simple, elegant, and no need to modifiy the bass or control plate.
2. Why did you want to sell it in the first place? If you weren't happy with some other aspect like the neck a paint job isn't going to fix it.
3.
The feel of it can't be that different to a standard T-bird can it? So maybe it would be fine to try a standard one?
I suspect it'll feel similar to a standard Gibson what with it being neck through and having the Gibsons slimmer and smaller dimensions on the neck. The bog standard Epi is 1.73" width at nut compared to the Pro's/Gibsons's being 1.5".
4. Woooo-aaahhhhh, I'm a klutz with a liiiiigggghter. That said, it's not a bad song, but quite frankly, it's played on Radio 1 about once an hour so considering I normally only listen to it when I'm coming to and from work I seem to hear it at least twice a day, if not more depending on the shops up-to-date music playlist. I also seem to come across it when I flick though the freeview music channels in the evenings and it's now starting to grate from being overplayed.
5. Have you had lessons? You might need a bit of a punt by a teacher to help you, not only will they make sure you can play properly (technique is a learned behavour) but they'll help you develop your muscial skills as well.
6. Now if you'd done a search..... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26299&hl=wal
7.
I used to have cat which ended up known as "Wat" - half cat, half-wit. For that reason I suggest catgut. Jon.
+42 Gut is certainly a traditional string material, but volume could be an issue.
8. You know, if it wasn't for BC/BW/BT I'd never have known of Mr Big. I really should pick up their stuff someday, because all the clips I see of them are top notch.
9. Welcome to BC!
10. White spirit should be ok on scratchplate plastic, meths I suspect would be okay as well. Besides, if it's a new bass and a new scratchplate, if you do bugger the scratch plate you can always buy a replacement from AllParts/AxesRUs/et al.. Both shouldn't damage the bass's poly finish in any case (I presume it's a poly, if it's nitro, good luck with anything but soapy water).
11. I'm still gassing. Need to pop over to Brum and find a shop with one in.
12.
How much you looking for? Seriously tempted by this
Around £500 inc delivery and the hardcase, give me a few days to get back to you though I've got other things going on at the moment which're requiring my attention outside BC.
13. I have a an Aerodyne, it's the Jap version with fretmarkers and a scratch plate, it will be going up for sale shortly. Need to weight it and figure out some postage costs first as well as sort a couple of other things out first. It's a very nice bass to play, it's in need of a bit of a tweak in the setup but it's still very nice. Easily one of the best necks I've ever played. This is a picture I took a couple of years ago when I bought it, it's still in the same pretty much mint condition:
14. Ahaha, I love the faux-techno breakdown in that, that's brilliant. Personally, I think they should ditch the screamo lead singer and give the guitarist vocal duty, he didn't sound too bad.
15. Difficultish question I think the best way to describe feel (and learning of) would be that it's more of an expression of your experience with music, so you don't need to know music theory but you need to learn about music if you can catch my drift. So you can't actually be directly taught feel, but as you learn more (via whichever method) it develops alongside.
16. Cor, thread revival or what.
17. God, they look ugly. Although, it does make me wonder if we're going to see a 50's revivial soon, it's about the only time period recently that hasn't been revisited in general fashion.
18. Have you got a bigger picture?
19.
Just doesn't sound to me like a company that's serious about making musical instruments.
And Fender are or have ever been? Fender mass produce a product which just so happens to be an instrument, I wouldn't class that as producing musical instruments in the way you mean it, that award goes to some of the smaller companies and luthiers ala Celinder, Sadowsky, ACG, RIM, Shuker, Status etc.... Gibson at least do seem to fall somewhere inbetween those areas, and also seem to be pushing new technology now they've stopped pushing designs, those Robot guitars are at least innovative.
20. Ditch the squier methinks. And go to music shops, try as many as possible that are in budget.
21. One of the new T-Bird Pro's
22. I'll be suprised if they don't get reissued soon, they look pretty lush.
23. The Swift guitars are a bit shoddy, I bought a Les Paul a couple of summers ago. But for £60 I'm not complaining as I'm refinishing it (yes still) as a project. If it plays well afterwards it's a bonus.
24. You could always plump for the previous version of his sig p-bass, in West Ham colours
