Is it a slow news week or something?
Are you serious, mate?
Yes. He is one of the worlds top bassists* like it or not, I don't believe he's the best, both technically and musically people do surpass him, but with seeing clips like that, I can see why others people do think he's truely great. To be clear I was commenting on the video rather than his career and output. *Note, top bassist could consist of say him being in the top percentile of the world's population of bassists and out of 7 billion people who could possibly play........

The Academy needs a bit more advertisement anyway, it had a blitz in the papers when it was announced the other year, but don't really see much about it now in the local area. It's had some decent names play there since it opened, granted I've been in Pompey so I couldn't go, but I've heard it's not a bad venue.
-
And people ask why people think he's one of the worlds top bassists, there's an answer. Slapping sounds rather good through Flea's hands and the filter though.

As for the pre-amp, there are a few threads on BC: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry265536 is an example. I think the reason why it gets less mentioned is because a fair few people know about it on BC, they consider it as part of the bass for custom builds or as an upgrade fairly frequently, or at least they do on the threads I've been reading and it's no longer a spanking new product. It's accepted. Edit: As for the cut down basses, I do remember a thread about it being planned, I wasn't aware they'd got off the ground yet.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions though, and the above is mine. You don't have to like it or agree with it, I don't expect you to and I'm quite happy for you to have differing views
-
Hmm, nice of the op to come onto BC (was last seen yesterday 11am according to his profile) and not even say "Thank you" for people doing his survey for him, let alone thanking them for constructive feedback. Charming.

That is a monster. Quite paltry in the terms of transmitters, but a monster bass amp.

Hmmm, what're you feelings on classical music? Transposing stuff from other instruments to bass is a good work out for your reading skills as well You could always branch into metal and rock, for starters Iron Maiden and Metallica have good songs and quite a few awesome basslines. As for improv, sing a bassline that fits with the song, then play what you sing. Easy to say, suprisingly difficult to do.

If you want to find out if it's really unique and maybe get a small little proof of that from EBMM, might as well go on their forum and ask nicely. Not to mention if you open it up to some of the serious EBMM people in America, someone may be interested in paying top dollar for it and will be ok with paying for the shipping.

Seppos = Septics = Septic Tank = Yank British military slang I'm lead to believe.
ABM EVO 300W 115 Combo - BANG ABM EVOII 500W 210 Combo - BANG MAG C115 300 - BANG AL MK500 - BANG
I have to ask, if you've managed to blow up 4 amplifiers, are you using them correctly? Because managing to blow up four different models seems much more like user fault than manufacturing fault or a run of very bad bad luck. Not saying it isn't possible to have 4 unreliable ones, but just strikes me as excessive.

About as musical as a squashed banana.

I tell you what I'd do, I find the topic that was only started earlier on this year with the exact same question by using the search: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39076

I can't imagine that during a long wedding band set a double neck would be entirely comfortable, it is probably going to be heavier.

Simple question for Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass owners
Buzz replied to markdavid's topic in Bass Guitars
How long have they been selling the Deluxe Jazz in 4 string version? I've had the 5 and loved it, and seem to recall a few past posts with people wishing for a 4 string version...
Since June this year according to the spec sheet. -
Filled it out. Not a brilliant survey, barring a couple of errors such as "disposable" rather than "disposal". The question about "improving" tone is wrong and you've already mentioned the negative tone alterting aspects (which I presume you're thinking of loss of low end), perhaps it should be reworded to mention it won't be detrimental to your tone like other pedals can be.
-
If you did a search, there's quite a few threads about boiling strings, that little tid-bit of knowledge hasn't been lost. There's also a number of improved ways using isopropanol or meths and some pvc tubing that's better for the strings.
I Hope the Tokai are are better build than the Epiphone. I will give it a go and if i dont like it i'll try and shift it on ebay. There are are a few sites showing how to move the strap nut including a thread on basschat.
Epiphone are normally pretty good across all the instruments I've tried. Granted, the other poster has picked up a Friday afternoon special, and being honest, my current second hand Epi T-bird is also a Friday Special as the bridge isn't centered properly, which I can't be arsed to fix as it was bought on the cheap, although I'll concede the finish on mine is brilliant and sounds fantastic. Neck dive isn't an issue as you can move the pin off the horn to behind the neck heel (imo, might be too far, might get away with just moving it a couple of inches down the horn), and my first Epi Tbird I bought blind from new (and regret selling) a few years back was perfect barring one very minor smudge in the finish by a pup cavity. Try before you buy I think, but like I mentioned, hold out for the pro. As a fyi, new Epi T-birds are around £215 now (with delivery), but the new Pro's will be just shy of £400 with delivery from the prices I've seen.

Sod the bass, anyone else spot the awesome wooden elephant?
-
Wait for reviews on the new Epi Pro if I were you, they should be hitting shops end of this month in the UK. Like mentioned in the aforementioned threads that have been linked to, it could fill the gap between the completely different current Epi T-bird and it's Gibson counterpart nicely.
-
Also, take a look at the sticky if you haven't already: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=194
Thinking about it some more, in absence of any funds to get a Mike Lull, I think I'll have to have a look at the Epiphone Thunderbird Pro V and if I like it get one and have it refinished in solid black to get rid of that horrible stripy neck. Anyone know what the ETA of them is in the UK?
Thomann seem to be expecting a delivery on the 24th of this month.
-
Easy, because it was costing Fender US/EU sales and they saw less money at point of sale due to the Jap ones being better specced for lower or similar price.

Crikey. GAS GAS GAS. Hopefully the planned Epiphone T-Bird Pro purchase will save me.
