1. Sound Control have lakkys in as well, only skylines in the Brum branch, which were the cream of the crop among a seriously bad selection of basses and not a huge amount of amps. Went in there to try some Stingrays, a Lodestone, and Ashdown Little Giant heads, they had none of the mentioned, and didn't even have any new 2008 Fender basses. Just 5 MIA jazzes and 1 P. Wasn't impressed, Fairdeal seemed a much better shop in brum.
2. You're missing a puppet arn't you?
3. Jazz neck and p-pup... Perhaps look for a 2nd hand Fender Jazz Special? P-bass's with Jazz necks come up occasionally for sale on here, alternatively you could buy a p-bass body and a jazz neck from someone like All-parts and assemble your own bass (you'd have to buy electronics and wire it yourself, as well as buy hardware for it). Then out of current models, there's the Jazz Aerodyne, but that's a love-hate relationship for most people, and I'm on the fence about mine for a number of reasons.
4. Ewww lefties. Said the person who writes left handed, draws left handed, however does use a mouse in the right hand and plays bass right handed.
5. Told you it was worth it jazzbassmm!
6. Well, I'm not gigging at uni (mainly because I'm rubbish), although I've got the option to but I'm shopping for a rig anyway due to a couple of the music societies (which use their equipment at their gigs) only have a couple of 15w practice amps for bass, which won't let me keep up with the 50w or 100w combos in the practice room (we're too lazy to hook up the PA all the time), leading to me not attending as I can't hear myself. I'm looking at the new Ashdown little giant heads, and probably a compact 2x10, it should be really easy to lug that around.
7. Whatcha mean, been sent to Coventry, nothing wrong with Coventry these days barring the horrendous pigeon sh*t everywhere. As for the badass II on the VMJ, I like the chunkier bridge for the weight at the back, but I'm not commenting on sound as I stuck flats on it the moment I changed it.
8. Vintage white? Tort. Tort Tort Tort. Tort. And did I mention Tort?
9. I can see how Jaco's bass would be important to some people due to the sentimental attachment to it, but to me, outside of Jaco's hand, it's a fairly pretty looking piece of wood with metal attached to it, and the bonus that it's one of Fender's Golden Period basses. Kind of spoils the mystery though, as it'll now get put away in either a case or glass display and never played again, whereas when it was out and about there was the chance it could have been seeing use, and doing what a bass should be doing: producing music. Edit: Beedster hit the nail on the head.
10.
Not a bad idea, but then we haven't really got it together to write a complete wiki, let a lone a book!
Right on the mark.

GAK

I've had no problems, ordered a few pedals and misc bits alongside ordering a Epi T-bird and a Squier VMJ, everything was quick, well packaged, in stock blah blah. Good prices as well. Can't say anything about Customer Service as I've not had any problems!
12. Ooooh, purrty. I like the black, but burst is nice, and only £220ish inc shipping? Bargain if it sounds as good as it looks.
13. What about the Orange AD200B or TV200H? The first is very respectable and comes in around £1200ish, the TV200H is about £100 more, but I've not been reading any reviews about them? /is not trying to fuel GAS, honest guv'
14. Alex James? /runs before the lynching team arrives and my head rolls
15. Ah, nice firewood you've bought there, collecting early for this year's 5th of November?
16. Apparently it's two channel, so high and low gain for each channel maybe?
17. There's notes about it in the wiki, and a few threads scattered around, but like rounds, they vary in tension just like rounds. One thing we're all certain of is that Rotosound Flats have a very high tension, I'm not sure I'm struck on them personally.
18.
Quick pint, anyone?
Go on then, I fancy trying one of those Coors that have appeared in 'spoonies across the nation, I had one the other day, quite a nice light "lager" to go with lunch.
19. Unless I'm very very much mistaken (95% chance), Passive EQ's only offer cut and no boost on amps. I'm sure if you can have it on an amp, you could wire up a pot to do it on a bass with a bit more gubbins.
20. Cliff Burton anyone?
21.
Well I know it doesn't have much "cred" but I always though the bass line in "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo (such a wonderful band name) was very interesting. Was it Nick Beggs who played that ? Firstly, it's a pure pre-teen pop song so there was no expectation (or even need) for a interesting bass line. Secondly, it really brought the song to life and was instantly recognisable - there's not many songs that a layperson can recognise from the bass part alone. Thirdly, it's a real "eighties" line with all the features of the time - bright sound, bit of slapping here and there.
Yeap, was Nick Beggs. Song in question, although via youtube, which isn't bass friendly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P6I4pT_tVA Love it
22.
By the way, what ever happened to the crisps with the little blue salt bag. I remember finding 2 salt bags in 1 packet when I was a kid and that was me happy for the whole day!
Smith's Salt and Shake. Smith's is now owned by Walkers I think, but Salt and Shake's are still going well. Havn't changed the recipe either I don't think, so they're full fat crisps of loveliness, only thing that's changed is the bag, from the thin flimsy plastic with clear bits, to a standard foil lined-esque one. Still white though Available in a fair few news agents, and all leading supermarkets
23. The RB-7 is around £180 new no?
24. Vinegar being the common name for diluted acetic acid, it does alot more stuff than you'd expect. Just don't put it on chips after you've used it.
