I used reaper to do the mixing.I struggled to make the vocals and guitar sound any good the dry sound was very dire and I couldn't coax something reasonable out of them at all. -

Thanks for the advice.. I've never touched mufti-track recording before... I've been struggling to get a good reverb sound with my current plugin so I'll work on finding a better one.. could you give me some advice on making the bass sound punchier? I have a straight DI signal + Mic'd cab signal and I'm also assuming that the drum sound is okay haha! regards, james -
i've never gotten on well with my p-bass mainly because it always seemed very dead... the notes never stayed around for long... i just tested out the intonation and realized it was way out! now i've fixed that... it no longer seems dead... either the fact the notes higher up the neck were just out of tune so i thought they were dead... or some how the different angle on the string at the bridge has improved sustain somehow?

What's the longest you've saved up for a bass?
JamesXP replied to marcus bell's topic in General Discussion
Never really had to save up for any of my basses because they were all sub £100.. now though I'm GASing for a ACG Graft Finn which will set me back over £1000... so we're about to find out how long that takes... about 15% there -
why not... 2007 Indonesian Squier Affinity

Thanks Skelf! I was just thinking... it's not listed on the web page... but does the bass have side fret markers? think i'd be pretty lost without them
-
popped drew an email... skelf, what is the nut width on the graft basses? regards, james

Interested in getting an ACG Graft Finn 4... but never played on any of the necks and the flat radius sounds a bit weird and the assymetrical neck! what do people think of them and does anyone know the width at the nut as it doesn't seem to be on the web page anywhere. Also... what kinds of sounds can you get from these with the standard east 2 band pre-amp? and finally does anyone in the manchester area own one that would be kind enough to let me have a diddle on one?

It does have various burn marks all over it... I didn't do any of the relicing but it works and plays beautifully so I think I'm going to keep it as is

Few mistakes here and there but what can you do.. I've been playing guitar for about 18 months and bass for about 6 months and i've only just started using my fingers properly in the past few weeks! http://youtu.be/6vhSB3uzzqk

The pots on my Squier Affinity jazz are generally a bit scratchy and even a little bit bent.. so they need replacing I'm pretty sure that mini pots are currently fitted.. but are the mini pots any good or should I replace them with the full size ones? also can you link me to an ebay link that sells the correct type because I've seen so many different sizes and I don't even know anymore aha!

Looking for some proper feedback I've done a good search but most posts are pretty brief in their descriptions and experiences! I'm looking to get some replacement pickups for my squier jazz and I've seen the Wizard pickups range.. anyway I play classic rock and I was thinking about getting the sixty fours.. so basically I'm looking for your opinion on them... and even more specifically how much more did you like them compared to what you replaced them with? Thanks!

How do all! Checking in from Bolton/Manchester.. Been playing guitar for around 2 years and bass for about 1 year! Currently playing in a classic rock covers band with quite a few originals coming along too! Can check our soundcloud here if you are that way inclined: https://soundcloud.com/sdr-rock Currently play a Squier Affinity Jazz with a Trace Elliot GP7 combo from the 90s which is pretty good so far! thanks for listening and hello again!
