  1. I have an Epi pro which is supposed to the Gibson pick ups, and until recently had a 2012 Gibson T bird. It was very difficult to tell the difference between them. In the end I sold the Gibson and still have the Epiphone.
  2. I worked on the programmes that saw in the New Year on the BBC 1988 & 9, we had those parts pre-recorded a week or two in advance, so the chimes are definitely available, though we had to cut to them live in transmission, which required some accurate timing! Last NYE my band used the chimes live and then played Auld Sang Syne and morphed it into a hendrix-inspired jam.
  3. Damn, who let you into my head?
  4. Well, one pill makes you larger...
  5. I wouldn't trust anything this fragile to a courier. Most of the basses I've bought here have been collected by a 'meet half way' agreement, once or twice I've had to drive 4 hours plus to collect. Still better than a courier in my opinion, especially as they generally refuse to insure instruments for more than £100.00.
  6. Thank goodness I have one in this colour (thanks, Lozz!)
  7. I saw that one, went up and was sold almost immediately! Missed out
  8. I flew back from Finland with a guitar a few years ago, unbolted the neck, and the whole thing, wrapped in bubble wrap, travelled in a suitcase with my clothes. Should be possible to do the same with a bass, I'd have thought.
  9. All of the above are possible, but he specifically mentioned Drunk Dave. It was like a .....message from above....
  10. What width is the neck? I've got a classic 50s Precision (mim) and the 1 3/4" nut really suits me
  11. I remember seeing an interview with him when he said that if he'd been called Dave, he'd have called himself Drunk Dave. That he didn't is a boon to me, as it describes me to a T!
  12. That's step up from my ability, do you undertake commissions?
  13. Looks great, I always fancied an early Precision, or an affordable copy of one, anyway!
  14. 47 this year, with one more to play.
  15. I don't think anyone (except Phil Lesh, and I don't think he's a member of this forum!) is saying how it should be done, only how they prefer to do it.
  16. I very rarely use open strings except the E, as there is no fretted alternative to it (I play 4 strings exclusively). I hadn't heard of Phil Lesh's opinion of open strings before, but if he says they are an abomination, I wouldn't argue! I avoid the other open strings as I feel that I less control over tone and duration with them when compared to a fretted note.
  17. I'd never heard of iRealPro before, it looks like you need to pay 20 quid to download the app, is it worth that? Just about every time I search for chord charts on line, I can find something close enough to get me started, playing and listening usually do the rest, but if this app is a reliable short cut, I'll try it.
  18. I was in there lunchtime today, all I wanted was a set of strings, but I was treated with respect and had a lengthy chat with the owner, whom I found to be both knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely going back when I need anything else bass related!
  19. You're most welcome, when I changed strings the trussrod adjustment was minimal and the bass felt just the same as if had with EADG tuning.
  20. D'adarrio have an app on their site where you can put in the gauge of strings you use now, how far down or up you want to tune it, and what gauge you need to achieve the same tension. Worked for me!
  21. I am sure chords are not subject to copyright any more than individual note are, but couldn't guarantee that that applies to chord sequences any more than it does to a sequence of notes (a.k.a. 'melody').
