  1. She's an only child...I won't comment on her age as she's watching me...but she's a good six months younger than I am!
  2. No, my bike GAS was permanently cured when I was knocked off a couple of years ago!
  3. I'm old enough to remember buying his first solo album when it came out, and though the technique was dazzling, it just didn't make me smile the way, for example, Duck Dunn's playing does.
  4. I had my Thunderbird strung with extra heavy strings and tuned DGCF for a project where I needed the low D on a regular basis. Band didn't last and the bass is back to standard tuning now.
  5. And in all honesty, that's all I need as well. I have cleared out several amps and combos this year and now have just 2 amps and 2 cabs, but which of my basses could I let go of without serious regret? I've bought and sold quite a few since coming back to the UK 5 years ago, yet I still tend to pick up my old faithful white Precision, bought soon after moving back, for gigs. If I had to choose one to save from a fire, it would be that one....but I would definitely miss the others, especially the other P basses!
  6. Quite honestly, if someone buys a bass without understanding something as basic as whether it is through neck or bolt really needs to do some basic reading up on the subject! It's hardly hidden from view, there's even a close up picture of the heel plate with four give-away screw heads! BTW, the classic pro Epi T bird is a great bass, I have one, and had a Gibson until a week or two ago. One had to go to make space for an incoming Precision, and the Gibson was easier to part with than the Epiphone!
  7. He does say in the comments that it might not be the classic pro model as the jack socket is in the wrong place. I would have thought that the bolt on neck was more of a giveaway! But he seems genuinely unsure of what he's selling and advises buyers to check carefully.
  8. Hmmmm.....http://www.andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=1283 Pity it's about 9000 quid out of my reach!
  9. That could be the correct diagnosis, thinking about it....maybe I'm just stagnating with the band I'm in the and the others I'm peripherally involved with...good call! I've reached the point with gear where I have no more room for shiny new bits of kit, so anything coming in has to be matched by something going...and there is nothing I can part with (at the moment...)
  10. Well, it can't hurt to try, but the last few prescriptions from Dr. Classified seem to have caused the symptoms!
  11. I must be getting ill. I was in Oxford today with my wife and she asked if I wanted to drop in at the music shop (our rather splendid newly located PMT on the Cowley Road) and I said...no....I can't think of anything I need....even worse, I couldn't even think of anything I wanted, either! I'm sure there must be a cure for something as serious as this, but what is it?
  12. We were back in Melksham last night, unusual gig in that it starts at ten forty five and finishes at one in the morning. Then there's the break down and load out..so at two AM I'm tired and nearly 60 miles from home. But at least the roads are quiet at that time of the night, rolled into bed at 4 AM this morning. Despite the hours and distance, I rate it a a good gig because they get such a good audience in there, including quite a few who saw us at our first time there in August. We'll go back when asked! I was using US Standard Precison (my 2012 white/rosewood/tort one). Ashdown Rootmaster 800 and Barefaced Super Compact - a small, light and powerful combination, ideal for the pubs we play in.
  13. Any amp that has Duck in its name has got to be good. Until I find one, I'll carry on with my Ashdowns.
  14. This is getting weird pretty damn fast!
  15. I thought I'd heard the last of that when we buried my dad!
  16. You'd be wrong for quite a few of us, I reckon!
  17. Vintage & Modern in Thame sometimes have a bass or two amongst the 6 stringers.
  18. Really? I'm a six footer and if I extended the Betty Long strap as far as it goes I wouldn't be able to reach the bass.I suspect it would be on the floor!
  19. Cheers, Mike, all is well with me & us. Bloody love this bass but can only buy one if I sell one (space issues) and can't part with any of the current collection easily!
  20. Damn it, Mike, I was so close to buying this, but you beat me to it. I've spent all my spare dosh on two more Precisions since then Sometimes my timing's so bad I wonder if I'm really cut out to be a bass player!
  21. Just this moment put down a Jazz bass with a long betty strap on it, good comfortable straps.
