1. Just back from a gig in a brewery. The free beer was great, and the audience was pretty good too. Our second time there, and hopefully not our last. I tried my Barefaced Super Twin with an Ashdown Rootmaster 800 and was surprised at how good it sounded, really tight and punchy and plenty of volume. I bought the app to go with my Super Compact as a replacement for a heavy combo, now I am questioning whether I really need the ABM 600 I bought recently! Still awake despite rehearsing 10.00 - 14.00 with one band and then gigging 20.00 - 23.00 with another! I expect I'll be paying for that tomorrow.
 2.
Superb amp, superb seller
Aww, thank you! The amp is still available, though.
 3.
And another welcome. I'm in Bicester. Ooooh N Oxford Bass Bash now there's an idea! Regards, Doug
So long as we west oxonians are invited!
 4. Tervetuloa Basschatiin! I lived in Finland (Kouvola region) 1996-2012, lovely country.
 5.
Red Lion, Cropredy. If its still the same landlord as 2 / 3 years ago, avoid like the plague They tried a big stunt on us and apparently, as we found out later, we were not the only ones
People who used to run that left under a bit of a cloud and came to run a pub in the village I live in. They were OK, but not great. We played for them quite a few times without any problems. They are out of the pub business at the moment.
 6.
You ARE joking, aren't you???
Unfortunately not, from my side of the stage, the drummer and harp man often drown out the guitar. I try to get the guitarist to set up on the same side as me when possible. As for the harp man, the further away the better, preferably in the next county!
 7.
Think you'd just have to accept that the gods are angry with you and you are doomed in those circumstances.
8.
Yes, that's what the ears are for. ...
Yep, but that doesn't work if you're on a noisy stage and can't hear the guitar!
 9.
Also handy if you're jamming/busking/depping and you can glance at the guitarists fretboard and know where's he's at
I do that all the time, very confusing if you are playing with a left handed guitarist, though. Or one using non-standard tuning. Or the ultimate nightmare, left handed AND weird tuning!
 10. Last bump before going on eBay tonight, if you're thinking about this, better make your move real soon!
 11.
Hmm interesting. Might just try this, since I have recently joined a Country band by accident.
I have a US Standard P bass strung BEAD that I am considering selling....
 12.
Dave The lliken the use of a contract at a bar to finding a clean bathroom in one. Blue
I'm playing a town centre pub tonight, and have a contract. Not sure about the bathroom there though!
 13.
He's not a great advert for his stress bracelet, is he?
You should see him without it!
 14. We get contracts if the gig is booked through an agent, but never if I book the gigs myself (obviously no one else in the band would ever dream of arranging anything!). Personally, I am in favour of doing more gigs though agents, as it does give us protection and there is a layer between us and the business side, which I prefer.
 15. I suspect the statement that bass would make (or cause to be made) is 'Oh my f***ing back' or similar.
 16. I'll say yes to almost anything involving playing the bass, so am hopelessly over-committed. I must learn to say no now and then! I think I am (technically) a member of 7 bands at present. One of them I haven't played with this year, another is just an occasional gig (I have my first one this year with them this month), another I've not heard from since I told them I wasn't prepared to run the business side of the band for them, one is a start-up tribute band that I've not heard from for 2 or 3 months, another is an originals band I have rehearsed with once, the sixth is another new band that I have rehearsed with 3 times in the last few weeks and shows some promise of being a good tribute act, the last is my blues/rock band who have been gigging once or twice a week for the last 4 years plus. I really need to cut down a bit, easy to guess which will be culled!
 17. I ain't got a TE 'coz I remember carrying my TE 4x10 combo up four flights of stairs twice a week after rehearsals. Head and a light weight cab for me these days (though I did play through a TE rig at a festival last week and the tone warmed the heart of m'cockles).
 18. I'll wait for the sunburst, got enough black guitars and white doesn't suit the T Bird in my opinion.
 19.
The day before my birthday! It's surely fate
Well, at least I know who to blame now!
 20. The delivery date for my Vintage Pro T Bird at Gear 4 Music has been pushed back to 30th December overnight. I thought the 1st of September was a bit optimistic!
 21.
That's an awesome pic Dave. Definitely worth blowing up and framing. Blue
Thanks, Blue, I might just do that.
 22. My daughter just sent me a great pic she took of two of the band during our Friday night gig at Faringdon Follyfest. I think it captures a lot of the fun of playing these places.
 23.
Man if you were closer I'd snap your hands off for this. I actually love these little Ashdown combos. Alas, I have no car. If you're ever making a trip to the Shires let me know! Cai
I was up that part of the world in May and June, but nothing planned at the moment.
