1. Just the one song per each of us? I'll have to weed one out, I need new strings and the prices have shot up!
 2. I refuse to accept that the wood serves any purpose other to hold the bridge, neck, and pickups in place and look good, so I am sure that the pick ups make all the difference. My MiM P bass wasn't the worst sounding P I've had by a long way, but the US is excellent. I think the MiM sounds a lot better with the quarter pounder, but I need to wait a few days until I can try it with a band.
 3. Wirebirds gee tar man Al has a 20 watt combo, plenty loud enough and we're not quiet. Harp man has a Fender Bassman combo and is unbelievably loud.
 4. Gave up on my quest to find an exact replica of the pick ups in my US Standards, and fitted a quarter pounder this morning. Not the same as the US, but a definite improvement on the Mexican standard. I'll need to try it with a band to decided how worthwhile the swap was, but back to back with the US through my little practice combo it's bassier, which I am happy about as it takes the treble ring off my playing now that I am forced to use a pick for everything. Doesn't have that lovely breathy edge of the US, but I suspect that is something i only hear at home, doubt if it comes across when playing with a band.
 5. Doesn't bother me, I've got two US Standard Precisions that should outlast me, so I'm sorted.
 6. I rehearsed recently with a band whose drummer used an electronic kit. We were able to play at a comfortable level and for the first time since i bought them, I didn't need my earplugs. My regular band allows the volume to be dictated by the drums, and earplugs are definitely required!
 7.
You can easily tell when there are Basschatters at our gigs. We get drowned out by the sound of tutting when we start Mustang Sally.
We obviously didn't have any at our gig last Saturday then, MS went down well, as it always does!
 8. I've met a few Basschatters at our gigs and at the local blues jam. None of them have shown any signs of being deranged in any way, all perfectly good folk.
 9.
We got offered the Fairport Fringe there this year but had to turn it down due to holidays etc. Hopefully we'll be there next year. Great pub though.
Nice Would be great to play that some time.
 10. Played a pub in Swindon with the Wirebirds Saturday night. The place had changed since our last gig there (almost exactly 3 years ago) but still had the same atmosphere. Not a huge number there (lot of competition in Swindon!) but those that were there stayed and had a good time. Parking next to the pub so an easy load in/out which helps. Hope we'll be back there in less than 3 years time!
 11.
I think you need to have a word with your Pop Combo. Mr FinnDave - one week its plectrums, the next week it's drum bits...you could always try the classic "I'm not angry...just disappointed.." shtick.
True, but the drummer and the pickless plucker are members of two completely separate popular beat combos, of which the only common factor is the bass player, who whores himself out to all and sundry
 12. Need to teach our drummer that trick, he turned up at last night's gig with several vital bits of kit missing, resulting in a 50 minute drive for the guitarist to collect them (the drummer doesn't drive!).
 13. To me, music theory is like grammar, it explains how/why things work rather than laying down the law on how to behave. More laws of physics than laws of the land. Descriptive, not prescriptive.
 14.
Of course, we've yet to solve the trickiest question on this subject... Exactly what does one do with oneself during verses of Alright Now?
Take a camping save and brew a cuppa?
 15. Not much moving for me tonight, midway through a gig, four of us plus gear on a couple of postage stamps!
 16. You could get an almost new Fender MiM for that, recent ones are pretty damn good.
 17. Two ten for a three piece, that's 70 a head, not bad. A lot of pubs etc pay a rate based on the number of people in the band, in my experience. My gig with the four piece tonight will only put 60 quid in my pocket, but it's still 60 quid more than not bothering.
 18.
I used to like pop music, but all of a sudden, I now like Country & Western Music. That was a Spur of the moment decision as well.
What, both types of music? That's a bit radical
 19.
Love that pub... only ever get to it for one weekend a year though. Looking at the posters they have some cracking acts on year round.
We've had some good times in there all right! I need to talk to them about the other two bands I've recently joined, I reckon they go down a treat there.
 20.
Is that at The Brasenose Dave?
Yes, we play there at least once a year.
 21.
Cropredy has a lot to answer for!
Hah! I'm playing in Cropredy in a couple of weeks.
 22.
Swindon has a fairly busy live music scene, especially for a town that some would consider a cultural wasteland.
True, I play with three Swindon bands and there are plenty of places to gig in and around the town.
 23.
[slaps forehead] aaah, of course. A foolish oversight on my part.
24.
I'm sorry...and the problem is?
Sorry, I thought the problem was obvious, it could knock my bass out of tune, of course
