As new Ibanez ES2 Echo Shifter analogue delay pedal. I bought it in June to use with a couple of synthesisers I am now selling as well. Works fine, used less than half dozen times and only at home. Never gigged, raced, or rallied In original box with instructions, great sound but I won't need it once the synths have gone. Can post at cost as it's in a decent box.
Got one of these, they're great. Simple enough to get good bass sounds out of but with enough features to do nutty stuff too, and the patch memory makes it more useful live than similar offerings from Arturia for example. More storage than the cheaper Moogs too!
Thank, they are great little boxes of fun, and with a decent full size two octave keyboard as well. I'm just not a keys players, and time spent trying to learn all of the synths ins and outs is time away from my bass, and that will always be my number one priority.
The 17's too and i ride a Road King Classic. Great to get some feedback on using with a Harley as the open face helmets can be a bit noisy at times. Will need to keep it in mind not to leave them in my bike jacket Thanks for that. Dave
You're most welcome, and the Road King is a great bike. I've got a Wide Glide now (95th anniversary edition) but haven't ridden it yet as still recovering from an accident last year, but will have the earplugs in under my Davida when I do!
-
Which ones did you get? I have the pro 17s and they made a big difference on the bike - I collected them ACS on my Super Glide and they suggested using them, the ride home was a revelation, I could hear the bike and other traffic but the wind noise was almost zero. I really ought to get a second pair, I dread getting to a gig and finding my plugs are still at home, in my riding jacket pocket!

On a far more serious note... http://youtu.be/ic3g8Xnf7LI
I saw a guy from work once while heading out of a Buddy Guy gig. I asked what he thought to which he replied "The playing was OK but there's no place for humour in blues." That was why I'd enjoyed it!
He wouldn't have thought much of Albert Collins, either, then! http://youtu.be/ad1naY-Qah4
Lie the idea of adapting some classic blues songs only prob with that is one of the guitarists is a Blues fanatic and will only play a blues song as it sounds by the artist. He doesn't even like me to play ad-libs on certain songs. Likes to keep it simple blues bass lines. Dave
To me, that completely misses the point of playing blues. It is a simple musical form that gives the performers plenty of room to express themselves. Playing someone else's lines is like wearing their dirty underwear. It has to be about your feelings, your blues, no matter who wrote or performed the song. Make them your own.

I play in a funky blues band, we just adapt blues standards to suit our style. As above, it's all about how you play them.

When I saw them this year I had to go to Leamington Spa, but saw them in the O2 on the Cowley Road last Autumn. Still good, too.
Blimey guv , Nik Turner ....thats a name from my sordid youth The Hawkwind era of course, Dave
I've seen Hawkwind this year, missed out on the Christmas gig in London with Steve Hillage as was stuck in hospital after my accident. Still got the ticket Nik Turner is a local lad, from Headington. Last time I saw him I was chatting with him before his set at Deeply Vale, probably 1978. Has a bad rep with a lot of Hawkwind fans, but he was an integral part of it all once.
Not only Gong ...check out his monstrous bass lines on Steve Hillages's ' Fish Rising ' all bumm
I remember buying Fish Rising the day it came out from Virgin Records in Manchester, using the voucher from a recent Gong gig for a substantial discount. My guitarist friend and myself were absolute fanatics about Gong and all its offshoots, we used to jam on the various riffs in Fish Rising for hours. There was some good Mike H bass on Nik Turner's 'Xitintoday' album as well (also some dodgy lyrics from NT, rhyming 'Fantasy' with 'Atlantis-y'!)
-
I really wanted to be at that gig, but we had our own booked. Last time I saw Mike H. play was around 1974 with Gong. Steff I saw many times with Here & Now. Mike's playing has always been beautiful. Isle of Everywhere on You was and is perfect in everywhere. Rather bizarrely, I was recently approached to replace Mike in a festival band. Never felt so flattered! (I think I saw him play with Nik Turner's Sphinx at Deeply Vale in 77 or 78, bit hazy about that period!)

My US standard Precision has a few chips and scrapes here and there as a result of gigs in small spaces, the most serious happened when the drummer knocked the bass over while it was resting against my amp & cab, but now I look on them fondly as reminders of gigs past. It still sounds and plays great!

Wirebirds stuff I know inside out, but I recently joined a second band and had 10 days to learn 2 sets of 15 songs each, most of which I'd never heard of, never find played. Got them to the point where I can get through them with the band now, but need my crib sheets to be sure of the verse/chorus/bridge order.

I've had to sack two people from the current band, but in neither case was it due to unreliability. If it had been, it would have made the job a lot easier!

Vintage 70's Fender P bass... Oh no it isn't!
FinnDave replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The seller is pretty clear that he doesn't know what this is, and even states that he was told by a retailer that it is a 70s copy, so I don't really see any attempt to to deceive. -
Poor thing. That's proper 'relic'd'. It deserves to be rescued and repaired
Tell you what, as I'm feeling generous today, I'll let someone else have the satisfaction of rescuing this one

I put the gigs in our Google calendar, on our Facebook page and our Lemonrock page. I then text the details to the other three in the band and remind them of it the next time I see them. They are good at either putting in days they can't make in the google calendar themselves, or phoning me and telling me the details, so I can pop then in there for them. It's worked out ok so far (3 1/2 years and counting).

I thought all bands world the same way, the bass player is complete control of bookings and everyone in the band accepts that
And a fine mechanic. If the bus broke done Albert was the guy under the hood. Blues
Just like the Wirebirds guitarist, another Al, he fixes trucks etc as a day job. Fingers like fat sausages, but man can he get some sweet blues out of his guitar. -
As a teen, me and my best friend would stay in his basement for hours on end playing and listening to Muddy Waters and Albert King. All that jamming and improvising at a young age has been invaluable. Blue
Can't think of anything by Albert King that isn't worth its weight in gold, brilliant musician.
