Yep, ours is from Vistaprint, can't recall the details offhand but it's a decent size and cost about £35 I believe.
And I was complaining about a 40 minute drive tonight. Blue
The 90 minute drive home was a good post-gig unwinder. We'd do it again, we had an enthusiastic audience and played well in reaction to that. Still buzzing this morning!

Just back and chilling with a couple of beers. Eight hours away from home for two 45 minute sets...but it was a good gig and therefore worthwhile. Our most westerly gig yet, between Bristol and Bath, and we're keen to do more.
I hope one of those are the Beatles Finn
It'd be hard to have grown up in 1960s England and not have heard of them. The Kinks were the other ones on the list I recognised, I've even played 'You Really Got Me' in the current band (only the once, mind!)
There are only one or two I haven't heard of and I'm certainly no spring chicken!
I suspect I'm more ostrich than chicken, head buried deep in the sand.

Out of interest, is that a typical covers band set list? I ask as there are only 2 bands on the list I've actually heard of! I knew I was out of touch, but I didn't know how far!

All of my basses have been gigged within days of buying them, in at least two cases, on the day of purchase (one of my Precisions was gigged while deciding whether to buy it or not, I still have it so it must have passed!)

Just found something a member of the audience took of us at Faringdon Follyfest last Saturday. Not the greatest bit of video, but looks like we were having fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH8WLD89bEw
Did a 2-gig-in-one-night in London recently and the next day I was knacked. It was the packing up, getting across town to the second gig and setting up again that did for me. And of course the actual playing didn't help much either. You get the picture. A man of my urbane maturity should be in a comfortable club armchair of an evening, sipping chilled champagne while watching young women wrestle in Swarfega. Or something.
Just back from a gig, in a susceptible frame of mind and there you are, talking about swarfega, and wrestling. There's another night's sleep lost then!

We've done two gigs an hour apart once. Never again! (Actually, that's not true, we've done it twice!)

We played our first ever private party last night, right in the centre of Witney in a family's garden. Went down well, we got paid, fed, and weren't arrested. I also played keyboard bass (synth) for the first time in public after three weeks of teaching myself how to do it. Gave my injured right hand a much-needed rest while doing that. We're off to the Follyfest in Faringdon tonight, our fourth year of playing there.

I never take any of my basses out of the house without a case. I agree they take up a lot of room, which is a good reason for not having too many basses!
That's good. Looking at the rest of your material there, no offence meant at all because it sounds good, but I'd be wanting to do more of the obscurer ones like My Dog and fewer standards - most of the ones there I have played at one time or another.
Thanks. We'd like to do less common material (though some of it is played in slightly unusual ways) but we have only 2 originals at the moment, and other than My Dog, it's the popular stuff like covers of the Stones' covers of blues classics and Mustang Sally that gets people on their feet and gets us more bookings.
Elvin Bishop version. I'll look for you, what are you called?
We're The Wirebirds, there is a more recent live audio of it here: https://www.lemonrock.com/thewirebirds?page=mp3s but I'm not aware of any decent video.
I didn't know that one either. Just checked it out on YouTube. Very good.
You found the song or our version of it on YT? The only one of us playing it seems to be several years old, in fact from our first gig, 3 weeks after the band was formed.
-
No. That's maybe one kind of so-called cover band but it's by no means the nature or point of all such so-called cover bands or all such so-called covers. It's completely feasible and reasonable to cover a song whether or not the audience will know it. You can actually have an audience going 'That's a good song, who did you say wrote that?'. Or more likely, they won't care who wrote it as long as it's got a proper tune, a hook or two, and maybe it makes you want to dance or at least tap a foot.
Agreed, one of our most popular songs is a version of Elvin Bishop's 'My Dog', which few people know. Especially as we play it in a different style and have re-written some of the words to suit a British audience. But it's definitely a cover.
-
I believe the word 'cover' has a completely different meaning to horsey types. It could conceivably be extended to what some bands do to other people's songs

I'm another happy ACS customer. I live less than an hour from Banbury, so was able to visit them and discuss my needs. I wouldn't consider playing with a band, listening to live music or riding my bike without them.
Good thing you don't go in for sweeping generalisations, in't it? So ... tell me about Hound Dog.
We used to do this one with Jenny, always announced it as a Big Momma Thornton song (though written by Lieber and Stoller).
