1.
i don't know what that is, but i want to hear it.... and then cover it...
Yes, but cover it with what?
2.
Some originals bands are alarmingly unoriginal. As is traditional round here let us instead of 'originals' substitute the phrase 'self-penned material'.
Unless you use a pencil, of course...
3. That's much better than my Roqsolid cover, which was one of the first for the gen 3 cabs. No text on mine!
4. My nightmare would be nothing but harmonicas.
5. I very rarely adjust tone or volume on the bass or the amp during a gig. Add or roll off bass & middle on the amp as required to suit the acoustics of the venue, any tone changes after that are due to where I attack the strings with my right hand.
6. Thanks, it is a good guitar, but I am more interested in synths these days, and space is an issue here as well.
7. I emailed a question about my aging ABM500 Evo II to Ashdown today. Had a comprehensive and helpful reply from Guy, the service manager, within ten minutes. It's hard for anyone to beat that!
8. I've fallen off several stages. Most memorable was at a local inner festival when I stepped back and dropped between the edge of the stage and an adjacent wall. Drummer was well impressed as apparently I didn't miss a single note!
9.
Can you tell me what the serial number is please?
The serial number is R 051114
10. When an opportunity like that comes along, grab it with both hands or spend the rest of your life regretting it (as I have).
11. Bump, please buy it, we live in a small house and anything I'm not using has to go!
12.
Are CIJ p bass' 3 piece or 5 piece construction like the made in Mexico line? FinnDave What wood is used for the body? Cheers
No idea what sort of wood they've used, but as far as I can tell the body is made of just two pieces, it is not hard to see the grain through the sunburst and I can see only one join.
13. I'll have a look at the wood tomorrow, just got in from rehearsal and about to turn in for the night.
14. Selling Yamaha CG-120A nylon strung classical 6 string guitar. I got this last Autumn, but am never going to start playing it now, so hopefully it will be of use to someone out there. It's in good condition, though it is lacking a D string. If I am able to get to a music shop I will get one for it, though as I am unable to drive due to a hand injury, that may not happen too soon! Complete with decent quality carry bag and several instructional books. Ideal for anyone who wants to learn to play guitar. Collection only pease, near Witney in West Oxfordshire. 15.
In common with FinnDave and Hiram, I'm crazy. Bought a new Mex P Bass Special last year which sounds excellent and plays very well. Had to sort a few minor issues - dress the fret ends, adjust action, etc - but I expect to do that sort of thing with any instrument.
I must be letting the side down, I bought a new US Standard Jazz at the end of March and have played several rehearsals and a couple of gigs with it, and have adjusted nothing. I did check neck relief, pick up height, intonation, etc but everything was spot on.
16. Still sitting in its case in my house, taking up space!
17. Thursday and this bass is still available, who'd have thought it possible?
18.
Agreed, Pete, in the Milwaukee area there are so many festivals and fairs the over flow of these events have nowhere to go but to the bar bands. Blue
Shame it's not like that here, I love playing outdoors, always good crowds and good sound. Come to think of it, we did do a country fair last summer (probably similar to some of the fairs you're talking about) and got the same fee as we do for a good pub gig. Played the same two one hour sets, though. Just not many events like that in my area.
19.
Not at all, if people want to play unpaid gigs that's their choice. But you sure as hell won't find me performing unpaid. Blue
We'd prefer not to do any unpaid gigs as each gig costs us money to do. But, we do a 2 or 3 open air gigs without payment each year as they help keep us visible and do lead to paid gigs in the area that the festival is held. We turn down more free gigs than we accept.
20.
I would never buy a Fender brand new. Actually anyone even considering that is crazy.
Hi, nice to meet you. I'm crazy.
21. When we do festivals they are usually unpaid. We look on them as a bit of fun, and good advertising.
22. I have a couple of recent US standards (a P and a J) and they are both bloody good instruments.
23. NOW SOLD****** Mighty Mite fretless neck. Standard scale length, Jazz Bass width but has been used on my Squire VM Precision and fitted perfectly. Ebonal fingerboard, unlined. I bought this a year and half ago from a member here, fitted it to my Squire and used it a few times, but fretless doesn't really suit the band I'm in. Back of head drilled to take Squire machine heads (as fitted to the the above), another set of holes has been filled, suspect they'd fit a fender standard P or J' machine heads. Postage at cost or come and collect if you're anywhere near Witney in Oxfordshire. Keyboard not included! 24. I haven't been fired from a band (at least, I can't remember it happening!) but I am the one who has been designated the bringer of bad news to members who no longer fit. I had to fire the guy who recruited me to the band, he pressed me to explain why...telling him it was because he was a whiney useless f*cker may not have been my most diplomatic moment. I also had to separate the band from our erstwhile 'star vocalist', which went a little better.
25. I rarely open my bass case in the house, only at rehearsals or gigs. I am currently spending quite a bit of time noodling on my synth, though, so the brain is thinking music even if the fingers aren't on the fretboard.
