    I make my own from .7mm plastic card (credit cards!). I glue two together and then add another two which finish about 3/4 of the way from the tip, and then glue wet & dry paper to these 'thickeners'. I find them easier to grip, which I need due to an injury to my right hand which has left it very weak.

    Weighed it as best we could, comes out at 8lb 6oz. That's the bass with strings but without chrome bridge & PU covers attached.

    I once took a leak in the tween sets break and the bloke stood next to me asked me what I thought of the band. So I assume I don't make a strong impression when I'm on stage!

    I dunno, our drummer, Darren, is a bit off the wall, but then he'd really standout in our band if he wasn't! Bloody good drummer and a bloody good mate, a true partner in rhythm.

This is from the acclaimed Crafted in Japan Fender line, and I believe it was made in the early 90s.[/color][/font] [font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif][color=#282828]It has been used for only a few gigs, there are one or two small dings, but none are very visible. The bass is fitted with a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 vintage style pickup; the original pickup is included in the sale.     The financial pressure is off (for now) and I know I'd regret selling this if I didn't have to, so I am withdrawing it from sale. The time has come for me to sell one or two of my faithful basses. First up is this Fender 60s Classic Jazz Bass in 3 tone sunburst. This is the more recent issue, with a nitrocellulose finish and tweed case. It has been used for about 40 or so gigs, no serious damage but there are one or two small paint chips, very difficult to avoid these with a nitro finish! Think of it as very mighty road-worn. Perfectly set-up, currently fitted with D'Adarrio round wounds. Lovely feel and sound. Available to view & play at my house in West Oxfordshire. Prefer personal collection, but will courier at buyer's cost and risk.     Can't beat a good rowdy gig, last week on Swindon was our latest, had to stop playing while the police carried an unconscious punter from the stage! I'll have to venture to the north of the county again and check out Banbury.

    I've recently had to start using a pick due to a hand injury after decades of playing finger style, most people think it sounds better! Only other bass players care whether you use a pick, fingers, or half a house brick to play, so long as they like what they hear.

    Just back from a gig that was booked only on Wednesday. Central Swindon (a nightmare to get around) and an interesting gig...good venue, PA and good sound man, so we took backline only. Having struggled with a dodgy right hand to load my gear, I was disappointed when my Ashdown ABM 500 made a bloody awful noise during the first two numbers. Quick change of leads failed to improve matters, so resorted to my DI box, which saved the day. We had to stop during the first set while the police removed a punter who climbed on stage to talk to us while we were playing and then managed to fall over at the edge of the stage and knock himself senseless in the process! Fights were breaking out outside the pub as we finished pacing up, but despite all that, we had a good gig! Soundman reckoned my Ashdown has a broken joint on the input jack, so I'll try to get that fixed next week. Oh, and the guy who wandered across the stage trying to talk while we were playing before knocking himself out when he fell was trying to buy us all drinks and wanted to know what we wanted, according to our drummer who's from the same part of the world as him.

    I think that's the blues jam that moved from the Jack Russell in Marston when it closed. I played there a few times, but Thursday is usually our rehearsal night.
