1.
Great to meet you guys at FL's this aft! Appols I missed you play though - had to leave early and sort out unforseens.....next time ! LD
Good to meet you too, I'll the stubby pick out at home during the week, thanks.
2. Good to put faces to names this afternoon, I think only two of us had brought basses, so I got to play twice, total of 7 or 8 songs See you next month!
3. Simple is always good, see you there. Wasn't sure yesterday as my wrist was very swollen after Friday's gig, but it's gone down a bit now, so I should be ok.
4. I have a Super Twin, and it sounds awesome. I have played briefly through a Big twin (same amp and bass) and it was even awesomer.
5. I wanted a different colour pick guard on my new US Jazz bass, and my local PMT were able to a get genuine Fender one for 40 something quid within 24 hours. Perfect fit, of course.
6. I only sell a bass if I am temporarily overcome by madness (my blue & maple Jazz last Autumn ), very occasionally if I simply don't get on with it (my Epi JC)
7. Had a great Wirebirds gig last night in my own village (standlake). First time we've played indoors at this pub, usually they have bands in the summer outdoors, but there was enough room, sound was good and the place was packed. We had several surprise special guests (surprise to us as we didn't know they were coming until we got there!), so thanks to Pete King from the Falkland Islands for sitting in on drums, Mike Crisp from local band for his harp playing, and Jenny Haan for joining us for very impressive versions of 'Rock Me Baby' and 'Roadhouse Blues'. I managed to play the whole gig with the help of various painkillers, though my wrist was twice its usual size at the end! Now resting it until Sunday. And my new Jazz Bass sounds frikkin awesome through the AMB 500 and BF Supertwin!
8. Is this still available? Our harp player is interested, if you would like to pm me your contact details, I'll get him to getting in touch with you.
9. I'm just back from gigging my ABM500 and Barefaced Super Twin, your picture was in my mind! My rig sounded good tonight, I can only imagine what yours sounds like, bloody phenomenal at the very least!
10.
Why pink balloons..?
To ensure you get asked questions like this.
11. I have the Hercules stand that takes 2 basses, good bit of kit. I use it with Jazz & Precision basses.
12. If it tips forward, then you need to counterbalance it. I would suggest tying about half a dozen pink balloons, filled with helium, to the front of the cab. That should do the trick
13. I'll be there, and I look remarkable like the chap in my avatar, but probably without the hat. I'll probably have my black/black/maple Jazz bass with me. I think we should be able to manage a bass chat (Oxford chapter) meeting there.
14. There'll be a mad rush for the stage when they ask for a bassist!
15. So who's up for Fat Lils Sunday afternoon?
16.
You could always do what I did once and hide a cab in plain view under a tablecloth and a lamp. Though to be honest, it is a little tricky logistics-wise when you have to get the thing out of the room and into the car for a gig...
I used to keep half a Norton Commando under a tablecloth as our landlord didn't allow such things.
17. More importantly, my Super Twin just fits in the Super Twin sized space I have in our lounge. A 4x10 would need more room, and the only way to achieve that would mean getting rid of a bass or two, and that's also unthinkable.
18. I got the email as well...but I could only get one if I sold my Super Twin, and that really ain't going to happen. Life can be so cruel
19. I suppose they could be yellowish. A yellowish shade of green.
20. Green staples, now there's class for you.
21. I think that's exactly what this site needs!
22. We need to see the velcro...get the camera out!
23. Well, I should be there, I'll talk to our Al tomorrow at rehearsal. He should have his new Les Paul by then so he'll want to [s]show it off[/s] try it out.
24. I'm working on it, but can't practice much at home as it leaves my hand too tired and sore for rehearsals. Maybe 10-15 mins a day if I want to get through this gig without too much pain.
