Thanks, she certainly has some power in that voice, I was about a foot from her during that song. She is also a very friendly, down to earth and enthusiastic person to be around. I want to keep her name under wraps until after her appearance with us tomorrow, hopefully the first of many.

A week ago, I came home to find a stranger in my house helping my mother-in-law unpack her shopping. MiL mentioned that the woman was a singer, so we got to talking. Last night, she came to our rehearsal, and believe me, she can really sing! Turns out she fronted a touring and recording band in the 70s, still records now and then....and is gigging with us tomorrow! A lot of the people who come to our gigs only do so because they hear about them through Facebook.

Last time I was asked, I simply said 'But I've just put my amp and cab back in the car', in a manner that suggested here was no way it was coming out of the car until I reached home. On the one occasion I have been expected to play through someone else's amp and cab, it was so bad that couldn't hear anything I played.

To me, bass playing is not about 'being heard' or 'cutting through the mix'. I think that no one should really notice the bass player unless he stops, then they will realize that the bottom has dropped out of the music. And yes, I am another P bass with flats player.

Seriously, though, the reason I play is because I enjoy the interaction and the unexpected results that arise from playing loosely arranged material with a bunch of other people. Playing on my own, or playing in a rigidly disciplined group is of no interest to me at all.

I have one of each type of bass, a Jazz and a Precision. No need for anything else. I play bass in bands, rarely play alone, can't see the point, so if I couldn't play in a band I'd probably sell up. Having basses but not playing in bands seems illogical to me, like owning a car and never driving it.

Never got that far up the neck. Only being playing 40 years though, hoping to venture up there in a decade or two.

[/quote] Until 15 months ago, I lived in Finland, even further away, even less choice, even more expensive...so I do understand! According to Barefaced's site, they ship a 212 to anywhere in the EU for £90.00. I was fortunate in that Brighton is only a couple of hours or so away, so collected my Super Twin from Alex & co, I have been very happy with the cab so far, lots of volume, excellent tone, and easy to carry in one hand.

I was obviously ahead of the times! I recently sold my Ashdown 410 (not bought in 1978!) and replaced it with a Barefaced 212, there is a world of difference between them.

I have no experience of the bags, but have dealt with Roqsolid as a company when I needed a cover for my BF Super Twin. As I had the first cab off the line, there was some confusion of dimensions, but Roqsolid couldn't have been more helpful. Brilliant people to deal with.

I'd question your dates, I remember buying a 410 back in 1978, used it for bass exclusively for several years.

We usually play for an hour, fifteen min break then another hour to an hour and half depending on the venue and the audience. Mostly play pubs, audience (and landlords) start getting restless if we are off stage for more than 15 mins.

I'll be gigging mine near Oxford tonight. Our Swindon gigs have dried up recently.

My current main bass is a 2012 US Standard creamy-white P with a tort guard and rosewood board, definitely a classic combo.

If someone shows no desire or ability to improve, then either kick them out, leave, or learn to live with it until you finally decide to implement on of the first two options. The fact that it bothers you enough to post about it here shows that you are not able to live with it, so....
