1. After a 290 mile round trip, Super Twin # 001 is in its new home, where it is a perfect fit for my ABM 500. I'll fire it up tomorrow, but late in the evening to inflict it on the rest of the village now, and should be gigging it tomorrow evening.
2. I'll be wandering down to my local a little later to put that right
3. Picture attached to prove: 1) My undying allegiance to the wonders of Wychwood 2) That I am having a very slow day!
4.
Change to sig noted. Sterling work....... no, hang on, that would be a silver card... .... aurous work there.
Thank you one and all for the recognition of my work. I am, of course, typing this while wearing a Hobgoblin T shirt.
5. Not sure where to put this or what to call it, but this is a recording of one song we (The Wirebirds) played at a small local festival last weekend. The song, 'My Dog' is a heavily reworked version of the Elvin Bishop original, and on this occasion was enhanced by the contribution of the singer's dog, Toby. It is not easy to play with tears of laughter running down your face! https://soundcloud.c...oby-at-crablake
6.
This impresses me far more than a mere OBE or Knighthood would.
I think I need to modify my sig!
7. I'll try to remember to record the gig as well. BTW, I like your avatar, my local brew, our last gig was a 2 or 3 hundred yards from the Wychwood brewery. I'm such a regular customer they awarded me a gold card!
8.
Congrats! Looking forward to hearing how it performs on a gig!!
Thanks, I will report on that on Friday morning. I'll be driving the cab with my ABM 500 evo II.
9. Well, I started this thread back at the beginning of May, and tomorrow I am going to Brighton to collect my new cab from Barefaced. My lovely new Super Twin will be on stage on Thursday!
10. Still for sale, must go to pay for new Barefaced cab! Absolutely as new US Standard Jazz with case and everything as it came from the shop this spring, untouched since buying 60s classic a few weeks later.
11. Cab now sold to Big Phill, collected today, cheers.
12. Played at a small festival at my local pub yesterday afternoon, two one hour sets, then packed our gear and moved to another pub a few miles away for our evening gig, same two sets plus encore. Not bad considering our drummer was dosed up with painkillers to keep his flu symptoms down, the second guitarist could only make the first gig and our main guitarist suffered from cramp in his hand. Both gigs were paid and it was gratifying that some of the festival audience followed us to the second gig. Should be the last outing for my Ashdown 410 as its new owner is due to collect it today.
13. Ashdown 180 combo for practice and small gigs, Ashdown AM 500 II through Ashdown 410 cab for larger venues, 410 being gigged for the last time tonight as .about to be sold and replaced by long-awaited Barefaced 212.
14. Price reduced again, £150 for cab including roqsolid cover.
15. Bump before the weekend, asking £825 or decent offer for this almost unplayed US standard Jazz.
16. I used mine to get a headphone amp, bought the Vox one and love it, not bad for a few minutes work writing reviews.
17. tervetuloa suomesta (and currently from Oxfordshire!)
18. I had a flightcase from Flightcase Warehouse for a Jazz bass...certainly strong but heavy enough to make me think twice about using it too often. I let it go when I sold the bass, currently just use the standard Fender cases, light, strong enough for the places I take them, and effectively free as they came with the basses.
19. I agree with your analysis of the reply to your advert, but I still read it that the bloke likes gigging for its own sake, not for the money specifically, and I would call gigging for the enjoyment of playing live music mercenary. Personally I agree with sticking to one band, to achieve its full potential a band needs members who 100% dedicated to it, not people sharing their time and energy among several bands
20. The examples posted by the OP both suggest that the people replying to his advert want to play live because they enjoy it, no mention of the money being important. The band I'm playing is a 5 piece formed at the end of April this year, we rehearse every week and gig as often as possible because we enjoy it. The gig money is nice,, but more as a token of recognition than a useful income. Our first gig was after 3 rehearsals and we have had about a dozen since then. One paying gig tonight, a charity do tomorrow. Both will be enjoyable.
21. Priced dropped further, will let this beauty go for £825, need a quick sale to pay for my Barefaced cab.
22.
I have nothing to add to the discussion but enjoyed your thread title very much
Me too, did you consider asking whether the MiA range are worth a few dollars more?
23.
It's the same old "opinion expressed as fact" routine that makes me mad. I'm willing to bet that not one single person on this forum has the statistical overview of the entire output of Fender Mexico necessary to be able to make cast iron statements about their overall quality relative to anything.
But isn't that the whole point of asking this in a forum, no one person has a definitive answer, but here you can canvass the opinions of many people and form an idea based on a larger sample.
