Definitely nitro, clearly stated on the box it all came in, plus it smells slightly of it. Definitely looks different to the poly finished one I used to have. This is a new range, and I had trouble tracking any down over here, lots of places waiting for stock.

Pick up spacing appears identical to my 2008 US Standard, based on an unscientific eyeballing of the two held face to face. No hands left to take a picture!

New bass looking better now, removed protective film from the scratchplate to let the tort shine and cleaned the paw prints off the neck and body. Checked neck relief, action, PU height, and intonation and, for the first time in my experience, all were spot on spec. Sounds good through my little Ashdown EB180 at home levels, will take to rehearsal tomorrow evening and see how it sounds with the full band, possibly with my ABM 500 and 410 if I can be bothered to heave it into the car.

Loved the Finnish summers, out riding my Harley every day. I haven't measured the PU spacing, but it feels the same as the US Standard. I need more space to have them both out at the same time!

Just taken delivery of my new bass, a Fender Classic Series Jazz Bass with lacquer (nitro cellulose) finish. I bought it on Monday in Reading, but couldn't bring it home as I was on my bike, so it came today in a FedEx van. I used to have one of the older classic series 60s Jazzes, and loved it, but for some reason decided to sell everything when I left Finland last year. I have pined for it ever since, and now have its new improved twin. It comes with a tweed finish hard case and seemed very playable in the shop. I'll fine tune the set up today and see how it compares to the old one and my current US Standard Jazz as well. [attachment=136323:1-DSC_0002.JPG]

If you're waiting for your cab, then August is a painfully long time away. If you're trying to get the money together to pay for your cab, then August is just around the corner.

Of course basses are sexier, size does matter.

My second wife was very anti-bass, she used to say that if I started playing in bands again, I'd be out late in clubs, meet younger, prettier women and want them instead of her. I honoured her wishes and put the playing on hold, but did end up leaving her for a younger, prettier woman, so I guess she had a point! Number three is very supportive of my playing and encourages me to buy more and play in bands. She doesn't seem to have the worries #2 had, or maybe she is smart enough to realize that I am getting past the stage of attracting younger, prettier women, etc!

I remember Columbus basses as cheap and nasty Jazz copies, but saw one a couple of weeks ago in natural finish which was definitely solid wood. It is possible that it was a Columbus neck on a different body, but the owner seemed sure it was all original.

I always, without exception, get lost driving through Stockholm. All those tunnels and microscopic direction signs! Hope you have more luck than I ever have finding your way around.

I discussed which cab would be best for me with Alex before ordering as well, and the only confirmation of my deposit payment was from paypal, which is enough for me.

I'm sure it's a perfectly good amp, I can't think why you don't value it.

Just paid the deposit on a Barefaced Super Twelve in order to prevent my Ashdown ABM 410 from killing me. I swear someone is slowly filling it with bars of lead when I'm not looking, everytime I have to lift it into or out of the car it seems heavier. I'll be using it with my Ashdown ABM 500 (an older English one, not the current Chinese version). Wish me luck with the wait!

I've nonly been playing 40 years, so have not yet graduated beyond 4 strings. I might do so when I'm about 90.
