  1. Hopefully they were scarlet, and having planted them he then observed a fire on the mountain.
  2. As the father of the bride, I rather hope that won't be the case next month!
  3. Thank you - I don't think Smoke on the Water is on the band's setlist though!
  4. I use mine unplugged for playing along with stuff I need to learn, but it is not very much louder than an unplugged Jazz bass. Great basses plugged in, with a surprisingly wide tonal range, from Precision-like to quite snarly and aggressive.
  5. Interesting tidbit of information there - so Mr. Glover had got past his (deep) purple phase by then was more into the yellow/red end of the spectrum?
  6. I've got too much on for fun! Gigs here & there and daughter's wedding - which is another gig!
  7. I really haven't the will to read the last 7 pages, so I'm sorry of it's already been said, but back in the day, Deep Purple was described as heavy rock, along with bands like Black Sabbath & Lead Zeppelin. I can't remember hearing the term 'heavy metal' (other than in Born to be Wild) until much later.
  8. Reasonable heft when played with 6 piece Dead covers last Saturday, I'll use it with a blues/rock 3 piece on Saturday which will reveal any shortage of heft!
  9. I'm happy with mine as well, had it a couple of weeks now and played its first gig last Saturday, no problems and very easy to get a good sound out of.
  10. Pretty sure my LBT doesn't have any valves in it.
  11. Paul, think his band was the Predators (brain a bit slow tonight)
  12. I have an old friend in Macclesfield who was selling most of his bass gear - if you still need an amp & cab, I could ask him for you.
  13. I've been using my LBT with a couple of Jazz basses, not tried it with a Precision yet.
  14. I bought my LBT to replace my RM800 as I find the RM a bit too complicated to adjust on the fly at a gig - the LBT has far fewer knobs and no buttons to push!
  15. It seems punchier than my RM 800, too long since I had the 500. Neither of them were run flat out, and nor is the LBT, but it does seem more immediate somehow. I have no idea what a PF500 is, sorry.
  16. That was what divided the playground when I was at primary school in the early 60s! I'm off now to a rehearsal about 1/4 mile from that very school!
  17. Very much so - it's not a loud band despite being a 6 piece - our two drummers play bongos and a Cajon. The LBT was at about 25% volume and about the same on compression (the compression has a significent effect on the volume), and it was just right. I'll be using it again next Friday with the same band and again on Saturday with my (louder) blues trio. If I run out of volume, my plan is to get a second Super Compact and run 2x12s at 4 ohm total.

    Tonight's gig

It did - but I've played several gigs already this year, this wasn't the first, just the first proper 2 set gig with this band.

    Tonight's gig

There used to be a thread about people's gigs, but I can't find it now. Played 2 1/2 hours of Grateful Dead in the garden of my local pub to a mix of regulars and quite a few people who had come along to see us. Band was under cover in an open sided marquee and the audience were in the pub garden. Went down surprisingly well, lots of appreciative comments, got paid, got asked back. I used my recently acquired Jazz bass (swapped an Ibanez for it) through my new Orange Little Bass Thing and Barefaced Super Compact - sounded good to my ears and the band and audience seemed to agree
  20. I doubt very much that I'd recognise it - I haven't listened to any pop music for about 50 years.
  21. That may be so, but you can't be too careful!
  22. I must make a note to avoid pubs called the Dg & Duck!
  23. It's just one week ago that I was lamenting the lack of a bigger Elf, and bought an Orange Little Bass Thing to fill that need. Now Trace/Peavey have launched what looks like exactly what I wanted! I'll be gigging the LBT this weekend, so hopefully I won't be lusting after this new release.
  24. I'm going to be playing two hours plus of nothing but Grateful Dead at a local pub this Saturday - it'll be interesting to see how that goes down!
