  1. I sold my Epic a year ago, still miss it.
  2. I'm playing one gig of the band we cover per day during the lockdown. I've got more than enough to last a year!
  3. Better to have checked than only found out when it was too late! And the info is there now for anyone else interested in these. I had an identical set on each of my Ibanez six string basses, so I know they fit those. I've not played any other make of 6 string, though.
  4. Sorry, I didn't see this when you posted it. I can't measure the strings without opening the packaging, which would reduce the value as they are still in the sealed manufacturer's package, however, this information is copied from the manufacturer's website: "All standard bass sets are LONG scale length. The 1st (G), 2nd (D), 3rd (A) and 6th (C) strings are 38” from ball-end to silk/taper. The 4th (E) & 5th (B) string are 36 ¾” from ball-end to silk/taper. Only the silk portion of the string should wrap around the tuning post or else the string will break. This particular set is NOT suitable for basses with bridges that require strings to pass through the body of the instrument. "
  5. My favourite local is a community pub, bought from Greene King when they sought planning permission for change of use to private housing. A group of wealthy locals bought the place and it has been very successful, though will obviously be struggling over the next few months.
  6. Estimated Prophet, a Grateful Dead (who else!) song in 7/8 with a shifting emphasis between 3rd and 4th beats in different bars. Was on the list for the April gig, but Boris has just saved me from worrying about it (or prevented me from showing how well I can play it after all this enforced woodshedding!).
  7. Just had our Hebden gig in May postponed until later this year/next spring. Sad but inevitable, and we expect further cancellations.
  8. That was where me and Gong parted company until 1977 when Daevid & Gilli teamed up with Here & Now for the Planet Gong tour.
  9. We've not had any gigs cancelled yet, but it doesn't look likely that our April, May & June gigs will happen.
  10. If I end up stuck at home for too long, I might have start listening to music well outside my comfort zone - perhaps live Grateful Dead recordings from the late 80s and early 90s instead of the late 60s and whole of the 70s that are my usual choice.
  11. Had one and sold it a few years ago, finally gave in and bought another. Phil Lesh used to play a Guild semi, so it kind of fits in with the Dead band, plus it has a Stealie on it
  12. The only bass I've been playing for the last 2 or 3 weeks is my newly acquired Epiphone Jack Casady, so if I had to choose one right now, it would be that one. Cheapest bass I own, too!
  13. Both of my amps are Ashdown (ABM 600 & Rootmaster 800) and both of my cabs are Barefaced (Super Compact & Super Twin). Either amp with either cab sounds good for many types of music.
  14. Lovely bit of video! We get hedgehogs in the garden every night (started feeding them again a few weeks ago) but never tried filming them.
  15. I'd be a lot more concerned about the damage inflicted on the badger than a few dents in the car!
  16. Only time I ever see live badgers is when I'm driving home from gigs. Gotta keep an eye open for them, they are often wandering along the edge of the road, right against the verge, and being dark are hard to spot until the last moment. I drive quite slowly on unlit rural roads because I would hate to kill a badger.
  17. Can't say I've tried it, but it's quite nifty with an airbrush (I had to google 'djent' as I'd never heard the word. Read the definition and I still haven't a clue!!)
  18. I've got one of these -
  19. Nice pics, my house was in the countryside and painted punamulta & valkoinen as well - best colours!
  20. I have a MiM Jazz deLuxe, and a standard Jazz scratch plate is a perfect fit.
  21. Hmmm, basses…. Nothing else to buy, except the occasional pick and a few sets of strings - plus some decent whisky to drink while I relax in the evening contemplating all those lovely new basses….
  22. I am planning to continue as a part of this experiment as 'most conspicuous failure' - and hopefully will set an example of the perils of failure to our younger members.
  23. I might as well pay up right now - there's now way I have anything like enough willpower to resist the lure of new gear for the next 8 1/2 months!
