1. When I depart. i will slip away quietly. No fanfare or hitsrionics that we have seen in the past This forum is the longest I have participated in, and do enjoy it., so not going anywhere yet
2. I was hoping for a tank
3. I would happily overplay if I could be as good as Jamerson
4. It is up too you if you want to pay the £5000 or not. People have been doing this with autographs for years. The amount of memorabilia that appeared after Michael Jackson died was the same. Maybe exploitation of the artist, but I wouldn`t say it is distasetful, just opportunistic.. The only thing that baffles me, is that I wouldn`t sell it if I was as big an Eagles fan as he is claiming.

6. As a fan of The Jam, I got a bit lost in the 80`s as I hated stuff like Simply Red and Frankie Goes to Hollywood etc. The Wonderstuff - Eight Legged Groove Machine changed my direction as far as music was concerned. Maybe not the best 80`s album, but certainly the album that got me interested in music again
7. Volume levels for me depend on the weather. The shorter the daylight hours, the louder I go, within reason of course. Summer is always quite quiet as people insist on sitting in their garden.
8. No idea how it works with theft, but if you buy a car for example, and it turns out to be stolen, it can be taken from you even if you bought it in good faith. Wouldn't that apply to everything or just cars, or am i also wrong about the car getting repossessed? I really do think that all these cash converter type shops are the biggest fences in Britain
9. Regardless of the law, if it was stolen, i would put myself in the owners shoes and wonder how i would feel if my bass was stolen . I would be wanting it back, so i would teturn it assuming it is stolen
10. I see that Dale Griffin, the drummer from Mott the Hoople also died today
11. I find good tribute bands are good. Sometimes you can`t see the real band as they are either dead, or packed up. When does an original band become a tribute band. Lynyrd Skynyd? I saw the Four Tops a few years ago and there was only one member left. Were they really a tribute band? Are From The Jam a tribute band as it contains Bruce Foxton? Queen without Freddie Mercury? Even if they have all the band in it, without Freddie, is it just a tribute. I think most decent tribute bands have a place. You can pay £15 at the local guildhall, or pay £80 for a crap seat plus travel and added extras for the original.I think it is telling when I pay the same for original bands, as I do for Limehouse Lizzy for example. Which brings me to, were Thin Lizzy only a tribute band after Phil Lynott died?
12.
Thanks again for the above comments guys. Re alarm, any suggestions of what I should be expecting to spend and/or a good model?
I bought this one, I put the dummy box on the shed, and the real one on the house. I can`t guarantee it is the best, but it works. Only problem with it, you need to buy a separate remote control, although not essential. They cost around £18 http://www.screwfix.com/p/yale-premium-wireless-alarm-kit/54473
13. Sad times for the entertainment world. 4 legends in a month gone
14. One thing you should definately get is an alarm. I had an attempt on my shed a few weeks ago, but luckily my alarm saved the day. It is looking good by the way
15. I had a Hercules stand. It didn`t stand up too a drunk crashing into it and breaking . I assume that any stand that holds and doesn`t fall over on its own should be ok. I doubt there is any stand that can withstand a direct hit from a drunk. The worst part is I only had it for a week
16. I guess there is no more appropriate place for this tribute. https://youtu.be/KaOC9danxNo
17. The Marcus Miller V7 is an interesting one. To have a signature bass for under £300 seems to be a bargain, and they get good reviews. I would imagine they would shift a fair few, as opposed to most that are well over £500. On the other hand, Sandberg do a Ken Taylor bass for a shade over a grand. The problem with it for me, is that it is called the Sandberg basic Ken Taylor. It shouldn`t matter, but the fact that it is an endorsed bass for over a grand has basic in the name
18. Sad day
19. I went no on a bottle of Jack Daniels a day which was false, but then said he had an occasional day off, so it should indeed be false
20. I would imagine in the modern era, Seven Nation Army would be the most recognisable, and that ain`t even a bass. I very much doubt non musicians would know a good bass line, they just hear it in the mix not realising .
21. RIP. They were an awesome band
22. RIP Lemmy.
23. I have started listening to The Ruts again. I like the bass lines
24. An Illness
25. Always hated Level 42. Mark King is another one that i can appreciate his talent, and can see why he is so well thought of. I don't think anyone can deny his place in the pantheon of bass
