1. I can`t really see anything wrong with the Ad. If anyone reads the description and thinks they are getting a Warwick, then they can only blame themselves. He even says he has no idea of the make of the bass.
2. I suppose the only way you would understand why people play left handed is if right handed people try playing a bass left handed, and realise how difficult it is.That is how l feel about playing right handed. It just doesn`t feel right, or comfortable. I do find it weird that i write with my right hand, but with a rifle i am left handed, and kick a football with my left foot.
3. I am naturally right handed, but had to switch to the left. Sometimes it is good as there are not as many basses , so choosing one is slightly easier
4. Not too sure if Jeff Wayne`s War of the Worlds is prog rock. That is listenable in my opinion
5.
Why would anyone pay £100 for a poor amp/combo just to play at home. A little class D and a cab wouldn't up up any room.. outperform most pratice amps by miles and you could amp it up at a gig and still get reasonable performance. The 60w or less combo has one use.. the bedroom..which is fine if that is all you do, but useless elsewhere, IMO.
I guess when you begin to learn, you know no better, so buy a small practice amp. That is what i did, and probably thousands of others. Having an amp and a cab isn`t as straight forward when you have no clue what you are doing.
6. I have a hankering for a semi hollow bass. I don`t need it, but i really want one.
7. It does play Gr 8 though
8.
I seem to remember Glen Miller getting popular again for a short while in the 70's
I think you need to be in the mood for that type of music
9. I have a 50 watt Eden EC10. Really good amp with all the ports i will ever need, and a good sound. Very recently, i bought the Ashdown 15 watt drophead. A really good amp. I love the tone and the gain all the way up sounds awesome. Not as practical as the Eden though, as it has no inputs like headphone and MP3 jacks.
10. I think heavier rock will take a hit when the likes of AC/DC, Iron Maiden, and even The Who and Rolling Stones pack up. There won`t be many bands left that will fill stadium`s around the world. That will take away some of the exposure of the newer bands. They will still be around though, as there will be a market for guitar bands for a while yet.
11.
Yes I have to agree I'm afraid... I fear for the future of rock music with very few people under 40 have even a passing interest. It's not all bad though, other types of music will come and go, things change... it's always been this way.
I am not so sure that is true. There are loads of new rock bands playing original stuff. It will never be as big as it was in the 70`s, but it has been fairly underground for many years, and will continue to be.
12. My wife`s favourite band is Westlife. I can`t stand Westlife. I would say we have no musical connection at all.
13.
Ah you bugger, it was you who I lost out to! I was too slow responding to your final bid Enjoy, and, er, if it doesn't work out for you......
Oh I followed it for a while, and there was no action, so i put the first bid down. I am glad you were a bit slow. I went up too £300, as people are asking £200 just for the CMT-15 head second hand. I was obviously hoping no one else was going to bid. I am glad you were a bit slow . Anyway, i will let you know if i don`t get on with it , and give you first refusal
14. I am fairly pleased with winning this. Just hope it sounds good. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291517444823?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
15. Luckily my neighbours are relatives, so they put up with it more, but i am amazed how much the lows travel.I am trying to learn to read music, so they said all they could hear was a slow steady dong, dong ,dong, keeping her awake. I guess it is no surprise. When i first had surround sound on the TV , i couldn`t believe how loud it was when i went to make a coffee in the kitchen. In the front room, it didn`t sound loud, but the bass was really thumping in another room. I have bought a shed, and currently insulating, and lining the walls. Getting the electrics next week, so hopefully i will be able to play after 7pm with no problem. I will probably have to be mindful of people trying to enjoy the summer evenings in the garden, but come October, i should be ok.
16. Probably something like The Wombles when i was about 3
17. I like the Teardrop Explodes songs, but the rest of the bands i didn`t think much of including Prince. Couldn`t stand Prince. I guess Obsession by Animotion, and Yazoo were proper 80`s. I did like Temptation by Heaven 17. Not a big fan of it at the time, but i seem to like it now.
18. I would like one, but alas, i haven`t got that kind of money
19.
I actually worked quite closely with a former member of the Prisoners and like their stuff, but they weren't really an 80s band - more mod revival.
I made a mistake by saying i liked a band that was formed in 1980, and their best days were probably over by 1985, in a topic that asks of the 80`s were really bad. I really mentioned them so you can see why i might not like Wham etc .
20.
The Prisoners were really a retro band though, their sound owed more to late 60's garage/psychedelia than the 80's itself. Then again that's pretty much what bands like The Stone Roses did in the 90's and people thought it was 'new' all over again
That is how awful i thought most of the 80`s bands were. Most of the 80`s hits had some connection to a different era though. Bands like The Communards, Soft Cell and that ilk were all 60`s influenced. Jesus and Mary Chain, and Killiong Joke were also really good. There were lots of good bands around, just not many on Now That is What I Call Music. Some were good, but mostly rubbish in my opinion. Oh, and not forgetting The Cult, amongst others
21. I really like the 70`s funk sound, so i would go for Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Maybe not the most taxing bass lines, or the best name. Or maybe Kasabian. Maybe scrub those two, and go for The Levellers .It is a very hard choice really, as the more i think about it, the. more it would change.
22. I couldn`t stand bands like Wham, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and the rest of that rubbish. However, i really liked The Prisoners Obviously i was in love with Wendy James of Transvision Vamp
23. Ahh, i was hoping you were going to say they were sold by Argos. I get discount from there
24. I have an Eden EC10. It is a 50 watt amp, so maybe a little big.It retails new for around £170.
25.
Intending no disrespect to either Brentford FC or Sheffield Wednesday, I imagine that more people will be affected on that afternoon by England -v- Wales at Twickenham in the Rugby World Cup. Luckily enough, I bloody HATE rugby!
That was the first thought when i saw the date. Luckily, it is an 8pm kick off.
