The deal isn't done until goods & money has changed hands. Always assume there's a chance it could go wrong at any point before then, and you'll never be disappointed.
Unfortunately, the era of the gentlemans agreement has long gone. Shame really

Best place to buy mp3s that's not iTunes or Amazon?
You're right, they're using the copyright loophole. As a consumer I want the best deal, and let's not be naive here, we're talking about rich rock stars, not lowly musicians. And by the way I hope you apply the same high-mindedness to all the child labour clothing you're wearing.
Surely not all the downloads feature rich rockstars? I personally wouldn`t think Spooky Tooth would be millionaires. -
The exhibition is about The Jam and for Jam fans. No one said they were thinking of re-forming. Some people really need to get over theirselves
No one ever said they were reforming, just the OP misread the advert thinking they were getting back together, then realising they weren`t.
I think the buying of tickets before the lineup is finalised / revealed is partly because over the years it has seen lots of quality acts so people have some faith that it'll be worth it. It's also because there is a limit on places and it is undeniably very popular. It does seem very expensive to me these days though but they clearly don't struggle to shift tickets so something is right.
If you like the 3 headliners, i think it is still good value. You only need to see 4 bands a day to average the ticket price to around £20 each.
Glastonbury is no longer a music festival. People have their tickets bought long before any of the acts have been booked, so you never know who's going to be playing. There are so many stages and other things going on that it's become ridiculous
I agree to some extent. No one 25 years ago would have bought a ticket before they knew the headlining acts. There has always been (well since i used to go ) other things to do, but it was mainly about the music. It does appear that you can get a refund on the ticket if you don`t like the headliners. I think i read 4 people got one as they didn`t want Kanye West there. It has changed a lot though. Maybe the internet changed it. Years ago i would buy my ticket from HMV. You would see the poster in the shop of who was playing.I don`t think they used to sell any tickets until the line up was virtually complete.
Do you actually play an instrument or are on on here just to wind musicians up?
She has actually posted a clip of her playing the bass on this forum somewhere. I thought she sounded good.
wouldn't surprise me if Lee Pomeroy jumped on the wagon, he's been Wakemans touring bassist for years.
I was listening to Wakeman on Planet Rock, when he did mention Lee Pomeroy. He tried to get get him to play on something he was doing, but he said he couldn`t. You have to book him at least a year in advance

Florence must have won over a lot of people as her CD sales are up. It looks like Ritchie is a big winner, as far as CD sales are concerned, as his 2003 greatest hits has stormed up the charts. I guess that is how you can rate someones performance. If they win new fans, then job done.
When I think of Yes, I think of Anderson, Howe, and Wakeman. Always have, always will.
Not that it has really got much to do with any of this, but i really enjoy Wakeman on Planet Rock
Nope, I don't even think the prospect of filthy lucre would ever get Weller and Buckler on stage again. In fact, Weller has gone on record to say that even if he was destitute and his kids were on the street he'd not reform the band!
A lot of bands fall out, and will never speak to each other ever again. Then they do, and they reform. I think it is unlikely that they will, but i can only hope, and hope i get a ticket
Unfortunately, I think it'll be a cold day in hell before Rick Buckler could even stand in the same room as Paul Weller without inflicting violence on him!
Unless he is offered a substantial sum

I think Kenny Jones has been unlucky. He is a good drummer. I always enjoy Stay With Me.
The big question you have to ask is: Is Yes Chris Squire's backing band? Was Queen Freddie Mercury's backing band? Is Rush Geddy Lee's backing band? If not, how much creative input do the other members bring to the table. The recent Prog series on Radio 2 shed some light on the creative processes behind King Crimson and Yes. I don't think Yes can continue in a similar way that Rush and Queen cannot continue as they are/were without those key elements. I'm sure many of us have been in band writing partnerships where one member has left and shortly after the band implodes due to a lack of cohesion in the writing process. The Who seem to have managed fairly well. It's just different.
The Who are different as in Pete Townshend is the creative person in the band. That is probably why they survived. The bands that you were in that imploded are probably totally different from these professional bands, as they could probably employ people to write for them. There would be loads of bass players wanting to fill Geddy Lee`s shoes if they decide to carry on. Whether it would work, i am not sure.
This is starting to get out of control. Suffice to say that if the fans (i.e. us) didn't buy their tickets or their music they would have no income.
I think that as a bass forum may well see it differently to other fans. Their many line up changes may help to keep them going, as there is already a bassist in situ.
-
I suppose the fans will make the decision. If they are going to stop going to concerts and buying records, then i guess it is time to stop. The Who are still selling out, so why should they stop? Lynyrd Skynyrd have probably been the biggest tribute band in the world, but they still sell tickets to concerts. Younger fans who never got the opportunity to see these bands 30 years ago, may still keep their fires burning. I`m all for them carrying on, if that is their decision. I think it is a shame that people think it is disrespectful to people who have died, when they are replaced. Look what would have happened to AC/DC after Bonn Scott had died. If it was up too the selfish fans of the 70`s, they would have folded. Even today, some Bonn Scott fans would not accept AC/DC are still going.

World's greatest rockstar - not Kanye, but who tho?
Does it have to be a musician? Surely you just need somebody with a massive body of work, who can burn out or retire young, who is infamous, a little dangerous and has loyal fans and ardent haters... somebody like Julian Assange, Mark Zuckerberg, Russel Brand etc... these guys all fit the mold. The guys living that sort of lifestyle will, now, unlikely get there by playing blue rock to massive crowds. That ship has sailed.
Russell Brand is comedies Kanye West. Both think they are better than they really are -
Well everyone is talking about him...
Not much of it was positive though. This is probably the funniest review i have seen though. Apparently Bohemian Rhapsody was a highlight. I think it was written by his biggest fan http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/06/kanye-west-silences-the-critics-with-earth-shattering-glastonbury-performance/
Always loved The Who but I feel they are maybe coming to the end of their natural life as a band. Very impressed by Pino's playing, but Daltrey and Townshend were lacking a bit IMO. I think if it wasn't for Simon Townshend's vocals to supplement the two main guys, it would have sounded terrible. Daltrey missed a couple of lines too and the whole band didn't seem sure of the arrangement of WGFA.
As Townshend is 69, and Daltrey is 71, they must be coming close to the end. While they are still rocking, i am going to be rocking with them. I thoroughly enjoyed the set

I only went twice. !992 and 1994. The Levellers were awesome that day. The problem with 1994, was the year Mean Fiddler took over. You couldn`t take your own drink in the field, and youy had to go through barriers and frisked to come from the camp site into the arena. I believe that is why the prices of tickets started to rise rapidly, as it become a lot more commercial. I remember being stuck outside the gates for hours, because the travellers were refused free entry, so they blocked the gates.

I read your article. It does seem stupid to get a petition up about the headliner. The problem is, after Kanye`s performance, they will probably feel justified. He should have told the organisers he was just going to do Karaoke, then perhaps they could have put on a better performer on to headline. Led Zeppelin through all their faults, which were numerous, would have at least be performing, and not singing to backing tracks. I guess they wouldn`t refer to themselves as the greatest living rock legends either. As i have mentioned before, rap is not my thing whatsoever, but Jay Z did change my mind, that there are some good rappers out there. Kanye just demonstrated he can`t sing.

I guess the greatest living rockstar has to be Jagger. He has filled stadiums for 40 years. Not many can boast of that, He is a shade over 40 though.
