What an awesome bass player. Such a shame. He was very inspirational.
yes i find them quite handy as they are close to where i live so it's easy to nip in & try something out,(they have a 30day money back guarantee policytoo) which i did on saturday morning to find i really didn't get on with the Fuzzmo at all, ended up buying an Ampeg Scrambler overdrive instead, which is mega. the staff in the showroom are very helpful to the point where they said that they would match the competitors price if i decided to buy the pedal.
Fair point. I always assume no one ever lives by a decent music shop. My nearest is at least one hour away

Do you particularly like Gear 4 You? I wouldn't have bothered phoning and gone straight to a competitor

when your name is John Smith, it becomes difficult

If I could chose just an over rated album, then Paul Simon - Graceland . Pretentious rubbish
Jamerson & Pino. Not bad, but heavily overrated around here.
Jamerson was another musician at the right place at the right time. He shaped a lot of Motown songs with his bass lines. Maybe not the best ever, but he must be one of the most influential. Some of the bass lines sound like they should never go with the song if you listen to them in isolation, but they fit like a glove when put into the mix.

You're Gorgeous - Babybird. Not the best wedding song

I also like the Levellers. Levelling The Land is one of my favourite albums. Fantastic live in the early 90's.

A bit of IMHO type of question. If pushed then it is virtually any famous boyband from New Kids On The Block to Westlife and everything in between and associated with before and after

I had a go on a left handed Lull. I went for the Clover instead. If I had the extra 1k, I would have walked out with The Lull. It really was nice
Apologies for the silly question, have only just signed up to the forum, never played a bass and don't currently own one (hoping to get one soon). Is this something that's open for a clueless beginner to just come along and have a bit of a nose please ? Only about an hour or so drive and would be nice to have a nose at some bass playing up close and personal and see some different bass' in the flesh so to speak. If it is open to anyone with an interest in bass do you pay at the door or need to buy a ticket in advance ? Cheers
You will enjoy it. The ticket price is about the best value you will get in my opinion. The masterclasses were outstanding last year, and looking at the roster this year, I expect the same. I look forward to this event every year. -
I've uploaded a PDF file with the bash timetable here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/d0pqwakzmmlffre/South%20East%20Bass%20Bash%202017.pdf?dl=0 Can someone please try and access it, and tell me if you are allowed to download the file? It should work, but always best to check. Ta
The link works perfectly on my PC, and able to download the content -
As I'm heading to a gig after the bash, and it's a band I play guitar, I will not have room to bring any Shukery goodness.
That is unfortunate. I was blown away by their basses at the LBGS. I would have been happy to gawp at it -
I have just seen a message to say that the Steely Dan bassist has passed away. I can`t find anything to corroborate this.

It would be interesting to hear someone sing like Russel Thompkins from Stylistics to Isaac Hayes in original keys

I still buy CD's. My car still has a cd but no bluetooth. When i get a newer car then i probably wont buy many. I also buy them as i have a cd jukebox. I did buy a record player just so I could get the Superfly album, but i doubt i will buy many.

Is it me? I'm finding The Foo Fighters boring!!!
Saw the Foo Fighters, Royal Blood and Iggy Pop on the same bill at the MK Bowl a couple of years ago. (in the Dave Grohl broken leg period). Foo fighters: boring. Royal Blood: get a band. Iggy Pop: stole the show for me.
it has to be hard playing after Iggy Pop -
You need to be wary of most people with really nice gear. I always wondered years a go how people in my factory drove new BMW's until i heard of PCP. Obviously not all, but there will be a few with nice gear with maxxed credit cards.

I thought he was good. I like Oasis though

I think the problem is having too many made and not enough people. There are so many manufacturers, and with cnc machines etc, everything is quicker and quality better resulting in longer lasting guitars. It is easier than ever to learn to play an instrument now
