1. Apparently my wife actually bought this single when it came out. Fortunately, our marriage managed to survive this revelation but it was touch and go for a while. http://youtu.be/9FOz-pD4AI0
 2.
Too much. The flaw will be the power consumption of those LEDs and switching circuit. That thing will spend more time on charge than on action. It's done it's job though - gone viral and got the luthier a load of followers so he can get people seeing his other work.
I just thought it was an interesting and quite clever gadget. I wouldn't actual want to use that on stage personally (my main gigging bass is a sunburst precision though so I guess I'm not really the target market) but it's a clever bit of tech that, as you say, will no doubt get the builder some attention for his more practical offerings.
 3. Fair enough. It's a short video clip demonstrating a feature of a bass where the whole instrument is illuminated rather than just fret marker LEDs. A button on the body allows you to select difference colours and to choose between fully illuminated and the light chasing around the instrument. Here's a few screenshots I've taken from the video to hopefully give some idea: The bass without lights- And a few examples with-

 5. My precision is incredibly responsive to different picking positions and techniques. More so than probably any other bass I've owned. For example, while playing closer to the neck obviously gives thicker tones as people have already said, I find that when playing in that position it is also easier to get the strings to ring out against the frets by changing how my fingers strike the strings to get more note definition and articulation. I think that responsiveness is one of the main reasons that it's my favorite bass despite being 'just' a Squier.
 6.
Having the second horn repaired then turning the top end down might be worth consideration.
Funnily enough I had been thinking exactly that myself.
 7. Well they was an easy fix. Took all of 5 minutes to put the diaphragm in and put the horn and cab back together and it's sounding good again .
 8.
You put them on eBay. You don't get much for each one, but they all add up.
9. I only played active basses for many years - not because I felt they had to be active but because all the basses I wanted to own during that time happened to be active. A couple of years ago I decided I fancied a change and got a passive Jazz and then a precision. Unfortunately I was so used to active that for some reason I just couldn't get the sound I wanted from those passive basses so now I use a pre-amp pedal with the jazz, added an active circuit to the precision and bought an active Sterling SUB Ray to go with then and I'm happy again. I love the sound of passive precision and jazz basses - but only it seems when it's someone else playing them for some reason!
 10. Had a tech take a look and test everything to see what the fault is and it is just the diaphragm so a replacement will be with me tomorrow. He also left everything disassembled for me (the cabs are a bit of a nightmare to get into) so I can just put it in and put everything back together myself when it gets here. I'll probably get the other one done at some point I guess but as one tweeter is enough to get the sound I want I'm in no hurry.
 11.
"You mean, there's no silicon heaven??"
But where do all the calculators go?!
 12. Another vote for Burn here. Great fun to play too if you've got a drummer who can do it justice!
 13.
Ok, I've been searching the internet for info' and indeed it does appear that these crossovers are only a high-pass filter for the tweeter to filter out the lows. The woofer isn't affected and thus no, you are unlikely to notice any difference bypassing the crossover. For now, just pop the other cabinet with the working tweeter on top of the one without and that pretty much equals the sound of a DB212
Thanks dood, had a feeling that might be the case. Unfortunately the tweeter in the other cab hasn't been working I think since I got it (second hand) so looks like I'll have to get at least one of them repaired.
 14. I unfortunately managed to blow the tweeter in one of my cabs at rehearsal this week. Really missing the top end bite in the sound now so was wondering, as a cheaper alternative to replacing the tweeter could I just connect the driver direct to the input and bypass the crossover to get the full range from the driver itself and get some treble back?
 15. In my rock covers band (the usual pubs and clubs) over the last 21 years I've gigged with: Both a royal blue and a black Aria Pro II Magna series. A trans green Yamaha RBX765a. A trans red Bass Collection SGC Nanyo. A trans Blue Yamaha TRB5 II. A Warwick Corvette Standard 5 Active in oiled bubinga. A trans honey/curly maple Spector Legend 5. A Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 in natural flamed maple. A Cort Artisan A6 in natural flamed maple. And my current trio:- Fender Modern Player Jazz 5 in satin Olympic white / black PG. Sterling SUB Ray 5 in satin trans blue / silver PG. Squier VM Precision 5 in 3T Sunburst / Tort PG. Not exactly sure if any of them have ever really 'looked the part' for my particular band or not and I think there's a fair amount of variation in looks between them too. They've anyways just been the style that I've liked at the time I've owned them. Basically I'd just say play what you like and don't worry about it .
 16. Some big name bands will often play warm up gigs at small venues under another name prior to a bigger event. I believe Metallica played a couple of club gigs under the name Trapped Under Ice as a warm up for their Donnington Monsters Of Rock headline slot in '95. Iron Maiden certainly used to play small venues under the name The Nodding Donkeys. The drummer of a band I used to play with was quite friendly with Nicko McBrain so when they used to play under that name at The Oval Rockhouse in Norwich, Nicko would get him to play his kit for a couple of minutes at the soundcheck so he could listen to how it sounded out front.
 17. I generally refer to myself as a bass player when talking to non musicians (for example: Please Mr Doorman, can I come into this fine establishment without paying or waiting in the queue - I am a member of the band booked to play here this evening. I am in fact the bass player) as they tend to be so unaware of our calling altogether that there's always the danger they may mistake the 'sist' part for the word 'cyst' and simply believe I am suffering with an infected boil . Bassist I generally reserve for conversations with other musicians but even then it's often hit and miss.
 18.
I love my 30 year old Wal Custom Fretless. I hate that it never be quite sounds like it is in tune.
19.
Damn!! never even tought about the Bundung
Really?!? You paid out for a bass without taking the Bundung into consideration? That's the first thing you should be thinking about!
 20. Well this has sparked an interesting debate as these things often do but so far nobody has mentioned that he doesn't actually say he doesn't like jazz at all - just that he dislikes jazz clubs. He could equally be making the statement that he dislikes said clubs because they make a mockery of his much beloved jazz music. Probably not obviously but still....
 21.
Ditto 19" rack cases - can't Aguilar make their speakers 19.5" wide?
Exactly!!!
 22. I think my Aguilar rig looks stunning and classic in its Chocolate Thunder (sniggers childishly) livery. Just wish it didn't have the slight head overhang . 23.
Yeah...£1350...NOPE.
Crikey! There was a chap posted a picture of his rig on the Aguilar Owners facebook page a couple of weeks ago. He had a pair of them stacked and topped off with a DB751. Now that's a serious chunk of change considering he was playing a pub gig!
