SOLD Looking to change things up a bit with my guitars so putting this up to see if there is any interest. It's an MIM Strat.... a surf green one... with a lovely maple neck, aged white pickup covers and control knobs. The soft V shape neck and vintage frets make this very playable and inviting. This little beauty is just sitting there collecting dust now so it has to go Very portable practice amp with a surprisingly good tone, full set of built in effects and built in tuner. It appears to have a 6" speaker although it may be 8"... its a bit difficult to see! 14" wide by 12" high and 7kg as new condition, it's never left the house. £40 collected from Camden NW1, I don't have a box so posting isn't an option. Paypal preferred but cash on collection also possible You are more than welcome to pop round for a text drive.

Bass Guitar Magazine - Column about Basschat
Basschat article exactly as before!
The BC column is a good read as usual bluejay we must have gained some members as a result of your efforts? -
Do you and your partner have similar musical tastes?
CamdenRob replied to Roland Rock's topic in General Discussion
Mrs C and I are about as different as it's possible to be in every conceivable way. The only thing we both like is the cat... and even then I suspect she would rather he was a dog. -
both the Hofner and the Steinberger are better options than my suggestion

Blimey thats a difficult question... there are probably loads of limiting factors that a non wheelchair user wouldn't even think of... Don't wheelchairs have raised sides? I would imagine that takes playing the bass on the right knee (assuming player is right handed) out of the equation. So I guess the options would be to play it uprightish between the legs (kinda like a classical guitarist) although as this is for a young lady she may not be quite so enamoured with a rather unflattering position , or go for as lighter bass as possible and play it on a strap up high, close to the chest so it doesnt even touch the legs... although again down to physiology I would imagine this is harder for ladies than it is for men. I recon a shorty P bass would do, something like this from Thomann, although the body is quite large. They do occasionally crop up on their "decoration only" section which is for instruments with cosmetic damage, I think the last batch went for £17.

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
That would be me. I'm trying to hold out but I keep having to stop myself from clicking. I'll wait a little longer but I'll probably end up buying a black one.
You can gaurantee that the day after you buy the black on a natural one will become available... -
Remeber, Leo allways got it right the first time
He did indeed... with the P bass that has a master volume

I'm getting used to fretless again having recently aquired a new one. I really like it, if anything I like it more than fretted playing. It just feels so natural and organic. I do find myself keeping things simple on fretless though as my intonation slips when doing anything overly complicated. I've also discovered that I quite often leave a note ringing under another when I'm playing and I've had to stop doing this so much on fretless as it's much harder to keep both notes in tune. This is why I'm sticking to four string for my fretless needs. I've also always used flats on fretless but my most recent one came with nickel rounds and they are staying on... they sound great! I have edge lines on mine, just extending about 5mm onto the face of the fretboard, it's easier than no lines at all but I find I don't look that much really anyway... you can hear when it's wrong!

What a beast! It looks very comfortable to play? Whats the string spacing like?

Complex song structures? pah.. Just go "intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-break-verse-double chorus" like everyone else does...
I looked it up. I still didn't (and don't...) understand what it is..!
We're just not cool enough to know... Besides even if I was the very embodiment of Schwiiing to the point where people close to me would actually be able to feel and smell the Schwiiing It would be worthless as unfortunately I'm over the age limit [i]*edit* "Smell the Schwiiing" is now going straight to the top of my list of possible future band names. It's such a difficult question to answer... The core tone of the various options varies wildly depending on what the amp was designed for. Of the lightweight heads they largely fall into two catagories 1) Emulating big valve heads (ashdown, orange, aguliar etc) for gritty warm sounds 2) Modern "HiFI" (GK, Genz shuttle etc) for clear and punchy sounds As sugested above, If you're not looking for a particular niche sound or you'd like the versatility then go for something that can approximate either like a GK fusion or some of the markbass gear. Tone is such a personal thing. My rig is very HiFi and alot of players would find it totally unsuitable for their tone requirements. Conversly I can't get anything like the tone I want from an orange/ashdown amp... they are just not designed to do what I want from an amp. Doesn't make them bad amps of course, it's just an illustration of the smorgasboard of options available...

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
Dekos might be a reasonable strategy in case of bass hoarding. In that they only cost £20-50 each, so there is less financial damage through buying a lot of them. Unless you have to build an extension to your house in order to keep them all.
I think the best collections are those that are amassed over time, each instrument considered and bought individually, but buying loads of dekos in one go could certainly fill a room or two... they are such excellent value. -

There's bass collections and then there's this...
CamdenRob replied to philw's topic in Bass Guitars
You could open up a collection like that in a museum... amazing stuff. I've been told if I was to buy that many basses I may find myself single....which would be a shame as I've grown quite fond of Mrs C. ... on the flip side I would have more basses -

I've never really got on with VVT. I like to keep a little volume back on the bass to quickly dial in during parts where the guitarist gets over excited and that's not really possible on a VVT without changing the tone. It's fine for "set and forget" stuff but if you need to make adjustments on the fly it's not really the ideal setup IMO.
