1. It's tiny isn't it but I can see how it's annoying... I doubt the seller even noticed it. Although if this was a Harley Benton, Thomann would be selling it as "unplayable for decoration only" If the rest of the bass is mint I could live with that mark
 2.
The only thing I'd add to previous comments is the extra weight makes it more important to buy a good quality version - straps and stiching all get a bit more strain, and the padding needs to be decent with more weight in the bag.
I was looking at the M80 or similar of decent quality... It'll have to be good for me to even consider it, I don't want my two basses breaking free and ending up under a tube
 3. If it's in Oxford on a weekend and somewhere near the station I may be up for it depending on the date How many guys do you need though? Too many might get a bit messy...
 4. Not much help with DB I'm afraid, but I have had both for electric bass and the wizzy is lighter, louder and sounds better. But it is much more expensive... The Eden wasn't a bad cab by any means. It did have some low bass extension but at volume it was a little honky.
 5.
Well, it's a no-brainer - you'll be carrying both at once, so if you can carry both basses in one hand in two cases at the moment, then both basses in one case will be no worse.
it's new situation... I don't take two basses at the moment I've just been thinking of ways I could do it. I've been considering taking both basses in flightcases on a trolly but that would be a nightmare with busy tubes / busses. This is only for smaller gigs anyway, the biggers ones always have full PA support so I just DI or I take my main rig in the van so an extra case is no big deal.
 6. Am I seeing a different guy to everyone else? I cannot stand the man... I'm indifferent to his music but as a person he comes across as a prize bell end.
 7. Sounds like I'm just going to have to give it a go and find out for myself... trouble for me is both my basses weigh 11lb
 8.
Savages.
I staggerd into a tent on Saturday and caught these guys and I have to say they were almost brilliant... Lattetude was (despite Mrs C's insistance that it is no longer a festival for posh people who don't like festivals) a smorgasboard of wimpy folk, man buns and girls in not alot of clothing... However Savages were so close to being a great live band. The singer was awesome, loads of energy and she really knew how to engage with the crowd, intense without being pretentious. The only trouble was it just didn't quite kick in. They would have a really well crafted breakdown section, stripping back to just bass, then building and building, growing in intensity, your ears were waiting for it to go, anticipating the rush of endorphins you get from a great impact, it got there to that very moment, everyone poised to thrash around like a loon and then... well it kinda died... they didn't really seem to have that extra gear they promised. This happened about four times in the set which was a shame as they were infinitely better than everyone else who played. Even Portishead weren't that great sadly... they are a quality band but it was just the wrong environment. Portishead are more of a "Stoned off your tits in a Dalston squat" kinda band and the festival thing didn't really suit them...
 9. IMO it's a trade off... I would change my current rig for a glockenklang bac and the matching 6x10 if I had someone else to carry it for me. As I don't, I'm more than happy with the sound I currently get from a class D and neo cabs.
 10.
A couple of times. I've also walked a good mile or so with it with no strain. Mine with 2 basses and a couple of straps in the pocket is about 15" deep at the widest point, so not a huge amount more than a relatively full rucksack/laptop bag
Thanks for that, that's encourging news... maybe it's not such a bad idea after all.
 11.
I've got the Mono (well, actually two of them) and although a little bulky, they're not significantly heavier than the single ones. Most of the weight is obviously down to the basses you carry, but the shoulder straps and padding make the gigbag relatively easy to carry around.
I have a standard M80 so I've been looking at the dual M80 as an option... Have you ever negotiated the tube with it?
 12. Thanks guys that confirms my suspicions really... I have an M80 single and thats bulky enough
 13.
Just a build that I have with Paul due sometime towards the end if next year.
So that will bring your tally into double figures It's an amazing collection
 14.
Here's a new family portrait
I saw that on talkbass... great photo Far left Mk1 fretless or the purpleheart sixer would be my favourites, although that green MK3 is very tasty . Any more on the horizon?
 15. As the title really... Anyone regularly travel around with a two bass gigbag on their back? If possible i'd very much like to take fretted and fretless basses to gigs / rehearsals but those dual bags just look massive and I assume they would be impractically heavy?
 16. I am fortunate in this regard in that I live in a basement flat with foot thick walls, so playing at moderate volume thorugh an amp is fine, also the neighbor above is deaf. I do struggle with my Mesa guitar rig though... the lowest possible volume it puts out is still a bit much even on the 10 watt setting
 17.
Wow, that wood. Messes with my eyes. You have one stunning pair of basses there Rob.

Wow Rob, that new Wal, and your recent 6 string are simply amazing! You're a one lucky Walowner! Eude
Thanks guys, I feel very lucky. Barring any drastic changes of work / life situation the intention is to play these two for a lifetime and pass them down There certainly will not be any more basses of any sort for the next couple of years!... well unless a old JG surfaces...
 18. Just completed a Wal trade with Oliver and things couldn't have gone smoother, another perfect BC deal Oliver is a great guy with a real passion for basses and I've enjoyed our email convos almost as much as the bass it's self. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
 19. Received my new MK1 fretless with Violet stained sycamore facings last night and I couldn't be happier with it. Like my new Ziricote MK3 it is everything I expected and hoped it would be. I usually put labella flats on fretless basses by default but this sounds so good with the nickle rounds it has on it anyway I'm going to keep them for a while (who needs a pristine fingerboard anyway ). The new basses these last couple of weeks are the culmination of several years of trying just about everything out there in the bass world, buying, selling, trading etc. I have settled on Wal basses and I'm now down to owning two instruments that cover all my playing needs. I still have GAS obviously, that'll never go away, but I could quite happily never own another bass for the rest of my days and I am very confident that the two I now have could handle any situation I'm likely to find myself in. Anyway... time for the obligatory garden table pics. I'm away this weekend but I will try and do some recordings in the near future for this and the MK3.
 20.
Does it have a feature whereby pressing the wrong button puts it in a utterly unusable strobe disco mode like my new TC one?

No.
pfft.... without that frankly what's the point...

 22.
The feelings mutual, your Wal's are stunning and pure envy fodder
Well looking at your location your really not that far away, I could pop over with the Wals one day and have a blast on the Lull if you wouldn't mind? ...although perhaps that's a bad idea as it inevitably going to lead to me wanting to buy another bass...
 23.
Yeah - maybe. I'd say those numbers are broadly accurate for rock, metal & country. But groupies don't pay the band. It's about filling the floor, getting the groove going - and selling tickets/merch and of course drinks. I guess what I'm saying is it's a team effort. Bassists tend to not get the lions share of the spoils, unless they're also the front man: Or get a bigger share of the take by extra roles (e.g. running PA, doing DJing after etc.).
You're right of course. I do understand the saga of the unappreciated bassist... I was just being facetious as usual. It's a difficult balance. Bassists (and drummers) always get a lower cut of everything unless they are the singer / songwriter. The thing is IME bands only really work when someone is comming up with the initial ideas for songs and everyone fits their parts around that structure. Bass players get undervalued because they are seen as a bit of a secondary part of the creative process, our bit comes in after the creative bit has already been done is the general view. There isn't an easy alternative. I've just joined a new band which I'm not sure about yet... Rather than using the singer / songwriters songs the idea is to write as a band and I just can't see it working. This is all driven by the drummer who is son of a rather more famous drummer and has worked in pro bands before, but always received a lower cut because he's "just" the drummer and not a songwriter... So now he wants to be involved in the songwriting and get a bigger cut if the band gets anywhere. It remains to be seen if this approach has any chance at all of producing decent material. I'm going to give it another session but I'm not convinced.
 24. An old JG with the leather pickguard... Don't think that'll happen though I think they only made 46 Wonder how many have survived...
