What a lovely colour... I've not had the pleasure of playing a lull but they seem very highly regarded. ...something else on the bloody GAS list

Glad to report Peter is back on track after sorting out some personal issues NBD in a week or so
Will probably grab a TC clip-on for around the house too - they look awesome.
I was impressed with mine until I somehow managed to switch it to disco strobe mode at rehearsal on Monday... Need to figure out how to set it back how it was because the mode its now stuck in is utterly useless.
As nice as the EA Wizzy 10 is, the 4 ohm impedance makes it less suitable for pairing with anything else unless your amp will run at 2 ohms (which Markbass don't IIRC).
Yes this is true. I'm so pleased with mine I looked at adding another but I'd have to have a series cable made up to run them both from the MB200.

Anyone bought a new bass and found their fretting hand aches?
CamdenRob replied to Lozz196's topic in Bass Guitars
I really hope so. I can sort pics, but true to current form, it`s a black/black/maple Precision so just like all the basses I`ve had over the last year or so
it'll be interesting to compare the new one against the older vintage models. Of the Fenders I have tried the recent ones have been exceptional... all this talk of them dropping the ball with their preposterously massive model range, company debts, Bono on the board etc. doesnt seem to be making any difference to the instruments they are knocking out. ... they are still the standard after all this time... J or a P with a hardcase for around a grand... still the yardstick. -

I'm sure its just adjusting to the new neck shape probably go away in a week or so... any pics of the new beast? -
Phwoor... Looks fantastic.. Happy nbd Sandbergs really are cracking basses and great value. Enjoy...

I have a wizzy 10 and it sounds fantastic... deep low bass and surprising volume and projection. I've paired it with a GK MB200, a popular pairing I underatand. I cart mine around London without any problems whatsoever.

I often think about this... not that any of my bands to date have ever got anywhere near "making it" I really don't think I'd do it if the call did come... I have financial commitments, savings payments to save up a deposit to buy a house, pension payments etc. to keep up. Not to mention rent, bills, council tax etc. There is absolutely zero chance of music paying me enough to maintain all that so I think for me music will always be a hobby I always have to make a point of this to the bands I've started / joined.
Playing guitar is 10x cooler anyway...
Yeah but even guitar isn't as cool as being a singer...
they sure are, got to wait to run them in anger as going away on holiday
Did you have to take Mrs lowhand away on holiday to offset the new bass?
-
Sounds like they are not only undervaluing the role of the bass but also you as a musician... Depends how much you want to be in this particular band of course but I'd find something where I was appreciated

That looks beautiful... are they Nordstrands in there? Happy NBD

He's clearly got issues... The weirdest thing is he doesn't look embarrassed in the slightest, he seems to be blissfully unaware of the disaster unfolding around him... maybe he just doesn't care. ... hopefully he will sort himself out and go back there, play a free gig and put all this behind him.

I'm back on prosteels again, tried a few others recently but now I'm back with them again everything just sounds right. I have been given a set of SIT strings to review so I'll have a blast on those at some point in the near future. I found the fender flats very high tension, but the set I had were quite a heavy guage, I tend to go for labella flats on my fretless basses.

If you could have been in one band in the last 15 years.....
CamdenRob replied to merello's topic in General Discussion
Interesting that none of you chose any bands making the big $$$$$$.
First visit to this thread and I came here with the intention of saying exactly this... I suspect my chance to have any creative influence whatsoever on any of these massive bands would be zero so I'd simply go for the one that made me the most money -
it's easy to just manually tune your E to D and back in a second or two.
ive pretty much always played five or six string basses but ive always thought detuners to be a bit pointless for this reason... id never 100% trust it and if im checking the tuning with a tuner anyway i may a well just manually detune.

Very pleased with mine on both bass and guitar, it's accurate and fast, can't ask for anything more really.
Yah. Bi-amping is a sport.
That's a beautiful set up... Bass and amps look cool as anything. Do you take all that lot to gigs with you?

Glockenklang BAC vs Jule Monique (best preamp ?)
CamdenRob replied to sifi2112's topic in Amps and Cabs
I would say the poweramp makes a huge difference, no point in spending that kind of money on a preamp and then just using any old poweramp. The whole chain Bass-Preamp-Poweramp-Cabs make up the tone and it's only as strong as the weakest point. You could play a £10k Alembic into a Monique preamp and plug that into a 5 watt practice amp and it'll sound crap... I have no experience with the Monique unfortunately but they are very highly regarded, as well as being used by a couple of very discerning players here on BC who use a lot of other top end gear. I did once try a Glockenklang BAC head and it was fantastic, although I couldn't tell you how much of that came from the preamp and how much from the power section. My Blue Soul uses a different preamp section from the BAC but it is best described as "transparent" It has a clean power and basically just reproduces what you put in... If you like the sound of your bass you'll love Glockenklang gear. If I had someone to carry my gear I would have a BAC head and one of their 6x10s. -
Yah. Bi-amping is a sport.
More importantly I suspect you have been sold a fake Hartke combo there...
