1. This really is one of the most attractive basses I've seen. The finish, the shape, the hardware... every aspect compliments the others... It's a beauty.
2.
No playing music in bars doesn't command respect. I was really addressing disrespect and those that make a mockery of live music. Sort of like if someone came into an office goes up to someones desk and starts mocking what he's doing for a living. Blue
Yes it's totally unacceptable... It wouldn't be tolerated in an office and shouldn't be in a bar either.
3. There are some fantastic British bass manufacturers out there turning out quality instruments like this... This looks another cracking example.
4.
Veillette Citron (but try and find one in the UK)
That green one is a beauty... Not seen one of those before.
5. I'm not sure respect is the right word... I mean obviously no-one should have to deal with drunken idiots whilst they are out earning a living, but playing music isn't really something that commands respect is it? We're not out there saving lives or anything...
6.
Cort curbow
I've had a couple of curbows over the years, they're great... Tiny, light and very comfortable with a modern punchy sound. In fact talking about it I think I'd quite like another one.
7.

That's beautiful...
8. I just got a batch of spare fuses for my glockenklang, it was all very confusing.... The internal ones are t630a, which sounds like what's in your orange. The fuse in the plug is a standard 5amp.
9. I've always found the VVT of a jazz bass a bit difficult to work with as I like to keep a bit of volume back in case I need a boost live. Its difficult to do that on a VVT without changing the tone. I'm sold on the Wal setup of EQing each pickup separately then blending with a master volume at the end of the chain.

What a lovely pair... I've been gasing for an uber spec this week...
11. What are you after? Maybe someone in BC land could lend you one
12.

What a beauty...
13.
Why do the amp experts have to be so old?
beat me to it...
14.
It's a HUGE place. It's a former warehouse.
ah fair enough... maybe they are just idiots... plenty out there.
15. Guess they are going for as quick a turnover of stock as possible with limited storage space... A lot easier to shift guitars Although I would expect them to at least be stocking a few entry level combos, surley basses can't be that unpopular?
16. I'm not relly that familiar with the various guitar shapes (well compared to basses) but that looks lovely, such a simple design but really elegant to my eyes.
17.
...and need to use a pick for that to get that skatepunk rattle/clank
I had an involuntary shudder when I read this... I understand if your filling in and that's what they are going for But why on earth anyone would want rattle and clank in their bass sound is beyond me...
18. Pick playing for me... I've never quite managed to find a comfortable way of picking on bass. I'm fine on guitar but it feels very odd to me on bass.
19. I love it... My tastes are maybe a touch more conservative but that looks great.
20. I'm not a fan of tort pickguards but this looks stunning... wonderful classic colour combination.
21. I like both Flats on fretless or a P and Rounds on my Wal... both have a place.
22.
Funny you should mention Bass Gear, cos this is the one.... http://www.bassgear....ng-standard-87/ Deposit paid. This will be the second bass I will have bought from them and I can't recommend them highly enough. Extremely helpful and very knowledgable. Can't wait :-)
Lovely... Looking forward to the NBD thread
23. Wow... good stuff Can't complain about a free cab
24.
I imagine so. I'm used to being called a tool so I usually recognise that phrase
If you search for Wal basses on Google a talkbass thread comes up and Google cuts it off after the first few words. I assume its a guy saying he's a tool fan but it just comes up as "I am a massive tool"
25.
Fodera :-)
Lovely... what flavor? I'm rather taken with the Emperor Standard 5 Fretless at the moment...
