The traditional understated paint job puts me off...

The multi genre thing is a struggle even with different sub genres of metal on the same bill, let alone a metal band on the bill with Mr depressing acoustic whatsit thingimy...

I looked at the ISP stealth power amp as an option for guitar. It looked good, quite powerful and tiny footprint but after reading some reviews it turns out that the power supply is bigger and heavier than the amp... bizarre.
The reasoning for this is "They're supplying the drumkit" So? They're headlining.
Headlining is overrated anyway... everyone has usualy gone home by then.
...With a so called accoustic act that dubs his work as a "Journey chronicling his depression over the last few years"
If you come back on here the morning after the gig and say this wasn't sh*t I'll be amazed...

Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen to be honest... but as it's your first gig I'd give it a go anyway just for the learning curve lending gear out is a pet hate of mine... keep an eye on whoever is using it. People are clueless and just put bass on ten, volume on ten then off they go hammering the crap out of your gear.

I was thinking about this the other day when I was playing a gig without PA support... After I'd refused to let a great lumox of a support bands bass player use my rig, were mine to go down I would be screwed as I couldn't really ask to use his as a back up! I can only take one bass to gigs as I usually travel on foot, so if I had a bass or amp issue we literally wouldn't be able to play. I always take spare strings and can DI when there is full PA support, but on gigs where the whole bass sound is reliant on my own gear, we'd just have to cancel, wouldn't really have another option. Has this happened to anyone? Room full of people come out to see you and you can't play the gig? I should add that I'm not in covers bands to make money, if I was a professional gigging for my job I'd always carry a back up bass and micro amp. I'm just doing originals for fun and occasional beer money.

Sounds great got to be worth it for the exposure and the contacts.
I've always fancied a Sandberg even more so now!
Yeah me too, I've only ever tried a couple very briefly in shops. There is something reasuringly solid about them.
Finally got round to wall mounting some, still got a few in the spare room though Not pictured are 4 on single stands and 7 below the BC Rich. Not bad going fitting this lot in a 13' x 13' room.
I'm showing this to Mrs C who complains about our living room looking like a guitar shop...

Supporting local gigs and venues - is it an obligation?
CamdenRob replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
I support the metal pub over the road despite their pathetic collection of generic lagers... We only pop in on Metal nights as on any other night it's full of neanderthals bellowing at each other about Arsenal. -
Mrs C is insisting we go to Latte-tude this year... camping and everything. ... the things I put up with Then again she puts up with our living room looking like a guitar shop so I guess watching bands I have no interest in with a bunch of posh people in wellies is a small price to pay.
I just quickly modelled your 8x15" cab: From 100Hz downwards it's of pretty much equal sensitivity to our Retro Six10, which can do fairly offensive levels of bass! It does need bigger ports - at the moment they'll start distorting pretty badly with about 50W. Six 4" ones 6" long will be fine. If you want maximum bass then replace the slanted baffles with one straight baffle for four 15"s and build another box the same size for the other four 15"s. One cab that size with four 15"s will do more bass than the 8x15" - the speakers have room to 'breathe' like that.
That's some free expert advice right there... Great stuff.
All original. I bought it 15 years ago and it was in this condition. I've really looked after it myself
It's beautiful... dings n all.

advise for someone wanting to get into dep gigging
CamdenRob replied to karlplaysbass's topic in General Discussion
I've no experience personally but I'd suggest a good knowledge of the classics and being decent sight reader would be advantagous? -
Surely you meant to say: "There is more potential there for a complete bloodbath than on any other single topic (except perhaps compression), and things have been a bit slow recently."?
Compression is nothing compared to the widespread derision caused by the mere mention of a music stand....
