1.
I've never understood this whole 'never let anyone else use your gear' thing. Honestly, I've done hundreds of gigs with shared backline and never once seen a bass speaker blown up.
I'd usually never lend out gear, but I recently played a gig where everyone used my rig. It was bit of a social do for the singer in my bands leaving party and the change overs would be easier with one set of backline. I knew all the bands except the second support and trusted the other bass players with my gear. Second support band go on, bass player plugs in, bass on ten, volume on ten, both guitarists do the same on borrowed amps. The singer introduces the band as "we're loud, deal with it" and off they went... everyone did "deal with it" and the venue was empty within two minutes whilst everyone sat in the bar waiting for them to finish. The only thing that saved my rig was that the bassist had a crappy J copy with a low output and didnt understand what the gain knob did.
 2.
I'd like to share every warning and every infraction by every member but unfortunately this forum isn't a democracy - it's a website which is privately owned and we don't discuss bannings or the reasons for them because we'd be here all day debating the ins and outs of it. We have better things to do. There's no conspiracy here - but a list of seven warnings in total (out of a maximum of five) and an eventual banning. What started out as an interesting thread has taken a turn into undermining decisions made which aren't open for discussion. If you want to hear Wayne's side of things I believe there's a ranty thread on Facebook somewhere. Get stuck in. To everyone else - thanks for using the forum. ped
I was with BC on the whole issue until this post. I kinda know what you meant but rising above it would have been a better option.
 3. I'm getting by with just the one bass at the moment... It's a sixer as I use it for lots of different projects, some of them utilising chordal looper stuff so I need the extra range. But for the most part I'd get away with a five string for 95% of the stuff I do and to be honest I'd get away with a a four string for 90%. It just suits me to have an instrument the covers all the bases I need and I find sixers comfortable enough to play now I'm used to them. I have a fretless four comming as I tend to keep things simple on fretless and don't much fancy trying to play chords in tune on a fretless sixer... I would probably have a collection of basses if I was playing in bands that needed me to fit in with their image... as it is, I play for fun as a hobby and anyone who doesnt like my image etc can find someone else I would ideally like to have a back up live but I'm usually traveling to gigs on public transport so it's not really feisable to lug two basses and an amp around with me... especially not two sixers
 4. hmmm... my number one strategy for not killing my cabs is never letting anyone else use them!
 5.
Reading through this thread I really can't believe that so many people are tip toeing around the elephant in the room - Waynepunkdude.
I didn't know Wayne, or really have anything to do with him. He seems to be very popular with people I do know so I'll have to give him the benefit of the doubt... but to be honest from what I saw of his posting on BC most of it seemed flippant, rude and aggressive... with a slight air of self importance. I suspect there is more to the banning than meets the eye...
 6.
My point, Rob. You try attaching a broomstick to one of those tattered, rotten things and you'd soon see some action (did you see what I did there?) ...
They're not tattered and rotten They're roadworn, that's mojo right there...
 7.
Have you seen the price of tea chests these days? No, seriously?
You've an hour left to bag these beauties from ebay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-vintage-1960s-70s-old-tea-chests-/231507169802
 8. Now I come to think of it I'm not sure what I've done with it... better try and find it when I get home.
 9. I bought one to go with my incoming peterbuilt as he recomended them, they have a huge range. It's great quality leather and arrived in a couple of days... all good
 10. bastards... I assume you've been through the local crack convertors etc?
 11.
I almost did this last night.
I thought about it earlier was going to add a poll for which rickenbacker thread was the best....
 12.
iv also been looking at the Glockenklang on board pre's as they seem to be regarded as pretty good, i also like the idea of a active/passive switch for more tonal fun. anyone had an experience with them?
I haven't tried the glock onboard preamp but the EQ section of my Blue Soul amp is awesome... very clean and clear. It doesnt so much add colour as cleanly reproduce the sound of your bass. Good sound in = good sound out is my experience with glock gear.
 13.
Rabbit poo the next morning. Or is that only me? Guiness has the same results.

That's only you. I get huge fudge-bombs with Guinness. Can't drink it anymore - too much fudge.
Ale Arse... tis a most unfortunate ailment.
 14. Well if my Peterbuilt ever actually arrives it'll hopefully be close to my perfect jazz LIned Fretless, matched H/S, DiMarzio Js & stack knobs.
 15.
I have a friend called Rick. ... I'm now wondering if I should sell him?
You can't sell him on here in case he's not a real Rick... How well do you know him? he might be a John in disguise...
 16.
I believe he is still working on small projects & setups around Newcastle, however his standing on the forum took a massive hit when he stopped completing jobs and returning money/parts or even replying to correspondance (I'm in the hole for around £500 with no sign of that changing, my 'job' started 18months ago). Obviously this is in part due to his unfortunate poor health, which everyone hopes he recovers from, of course health is more important than money etc, however his management of the situation with many members means that I can't say that I'd recommend sending him money for jobs at this time. Si
oh dear... sounds messy.
 17. I worry about the break angle of the string over the bridge with through body stringing...
 18. Yes that's a very aesthetically pleasing headstock...
 19.
so who are the highest posting members (not mods) now? I see Happy Jack's at 7,824 - that must be top four?! I'm trying to get into the playoffs for division 2.
Well according to the list of top posters I am in 190th place, so a way to go for me yet...
 20. Quite a number of entries this month... I'll have to put a weekend aside to listen to them all
 21.
You come you go end of.
No wiser words have been said on basschat.... No one is so important that their leaving will have even the slightest effect the on the site as a whole. Whilst individuals may be missed by those who knew them BC will continue. Should I tire of BC I will simply slip away... I will not be making a statement or a dramatic exit, I am under no impression it will affect anyone else, or that anyone cares. Not that I'm going anywhere, I like BC just as it is.
 22. I'm a relative newcomer to BC and have no experience of the good old days... I like BC as it currently is. I do feel for some of the original members, its a shame when anything you care about changes to the point that you no longer wish to be a part of it...
 23. Ricken...
Rickenbacker- obviously.
Damn too slow...
 24.
Mustang Sally would do a great job of showing off nothing but half a dozen notes on the E A and D string. Come on..... That's not a demo...it's showing you can play the most kicked to death, sing a long song of all time. You need to go past the 5th fret to show a bass off. I think we both have a completely different concept of what demonstrating the potential, and capabilities of a bass guitar are...
There is a small chance I wasn't being entirely serious...
 25. Surely no one has actually read the entire thread?
