1. This is very unusual... must be a very early mk1 custom as it still has a PB serial number, looks like a solid shedua body too?
 2. potayto potahto... tomayto tomahto... We're all bass players, Four strings, Six strings, Ten strings, Fretted, Fretless, Electric, EUB, Double bass... Different instruments suit different people, we're all holding down the low end and getting people moving
 3.
It's got a hole in the side on the right as you look at it which lets you see inside. No idea what that's for, but it looks cool.
Looks like a port to me.. if it sounds good on the bottom like that it makes sense to put it there as it means the front panel can be smaller... which is always good. My PC cabs sound good and are light but they are pretty massive because of all the porting on the front. Anyway, hope it sounds good, post a review when you get a chance.
 4. I've been toying with the idea of a 2x10 myself recently, they don't seem to be much heavier than a 1x12 and look like a good choice for a one cab solution.. is that a port on the bottom? I've never seen one there before...
 5.
The Dynamite P is mine now. I'll start an NBD thread after I have taken some pictures, it plays and sounds fantastic. P meets Thunderbird, think Live At Leeds.
Good stuff, snagged a beauty there
 6. Sold my Thumb NT 6 to André all the way over in Sweden. Now a lot of these feedback threads (including mine) are full of comments about deals that went smoothly, everything arriving on time, no problems etc... Now it's one thing being gracious when everything goes well but another thing entirely when things don't go so well. André has been nothing short of a gentleman throughout what must have been a very frustrating processs with the courier pretending to have attempted to deliver the bass, before it disapearing off their tracking system entirly and no-one knowing where it was. In the end André went to the local depot on the off chance they had the bass and they did! All's well that ends well but André was truly fantastic to deal with throughout the process and I can only give him my highest recomendations as a seller / buyer on BC. I hope you enjoy the Bass André, I'm very grateful for you patience. Rob
 7.
At least there´s a picture on page 2 of this thread. When I picked it up Pete told me that it was one of the very first fretless sixers he ever made.
What a beauty, lovely American Walnut facings...
 8.
I traded it for a Wal Midibass with our member Spiritchaser. IIRC Oliver sold it later on. If you want to know more you need to contact him. He´s a nice bloke anyway.
Thanks for the update I knew Spiritchaser had had one, now I know where he got it from Fretless sixers are pretty rare! several of the few that were made seem to have been fretted since leaving Wal HQ.
 9.
How's your bass coming along?
Last update was that the body, neck and electronics were all done... just awaiting a few of the cosmetic bits, scratch plate, matching thumb rest etc, Hopefully be ready in the new year
 10.
... my ex-sixer fretless.
Do you know if this went to another BCer? I'm keeping an eye out for a fretless sixer.
 11.
That'll be me
Thats the one I'm assuming yours is the first standard spec model produced? Rob's one looked like a solid ash model, not the usual mahogany core with facings... What are the facings on yours? Piece of history you own there
 12.
I hear you pal, GAS will never go away. I guess I'm trying to liken it to a good solid marriage, you still fancy ladies at work, in your neighbourhood and out and about etc, but you stick with your lady regardless. That's what I'm hoping for again. At least with basses you can always play on your mates one with no come back or commitments and even go into town and mess around on some without being dodgy.
yeah it's not quite the same with ladies... I think playing on my mates one might indeed have some consequences..... I do have a few on stands in the living room though and a couple in cases under the bed.
 13. I think GAS is unconqureable... I can only see myself playing Wals from now on but now instead of gassing for other basses I just GAS for different Wals Also GAS is not rational and even having found a a bass that works for you as an instrument you intend to play wont stop you wanting other basses... I keep looking at that ice blue Fbass in the classifieds I wouldn't want it for any parctical reason but I still want it! oh and I also want a shergold marathon and an enfield lionheart
 14. This is pretty much the exact opposite of what I look for in a bass.... but I love it... Top made from a 70 year old dynamite crate...anyone got £1100 for my xmas present?
 15. The plot thickens...
 16.
Rob still has his sixer. Probably couldn't bring himself to sell it back then. He showed off that he just had it defretted.
Yes I've looked into it a bit more now and after Rob's prototype someone else here on BC has one signed off in August 1994 which looks like the first production model... but apart from those it looks like mine is next in line, made as the first of a batch of three with shedua facings. So I reckon I've got the third one built... not that it really makes any difference I'm just interested in it's history Can't be that many sixers around though... I did ask Paul if he knew what number my new one would be, but haven't heard back yet. I'm already trying to justify the next one, a fretless sixer with light coloured facings and a matching headstock
 17.
I was actually thinking of asking Mark at Limelight to build me an Olympic white/matching headstock '64 Jazz with zero relicing. As close to what a real Jazz would have been delivered to someone brand new from the factory back in '64 but then I decided to buy a 6-string instead
I made an enquiry with Mark a little while back about making a bass with no relicing but he said that it would require a higher standard of finishing that they couldn't achieve... hence only offering reliced basses. I ordered from Peterbuilt in the end.
 18. I have legions of adoring female fans at all my gigs, so I simply have one of them hold my bass for me when I'm not using it....
 19. I'm not really into the whole relic thing, but it's just a cosmetic preference I'm not opposed to the idea or anything. What I do find a little odd is those who have bought a vintage instrument bemoaning the "fake" aspect of relics... A bass with someone elses "mojo" is arguably even more of a "fake".
 20.
Stick it in the loft...
or even better, in your Uncle's loft.
 21. Might be one for the skip...
 22.
Wireless system
or alternatively a wearable rig you can strap on whilst jumping around....
 23. I am definitely in the hobbyist catagory
 24.
I don't like either on bass. I'm constantly surprised by just how many people on here seem to use them.
Yes I've got to admit they don't do alot for me either...
