I read it as "The Who live in Leeds" As in, they live , in leeds.
I also did that... once I'd worked out it wasnt "who lives in leeds" this was my next logical step... ... think I've been workng too much.
Sorry - I misread the thread title as "Who lives in Leeds?"
Yep me too...

Yeah creativity is definitely over-rated... what we need is more Dad Rock pub covers...
The preamp is the new DFM one, but without the high mid/treble filter module, this one instead has two mid filters stacks, one per pickup and a passive tone with various switching options: low mid boost, treble boost, active/passive and series/parallel/singlecoil for the RFB pickup. Should keep me busy... Eude
wow that sounds pretty comprehensive... would be cool to hear some samples when you get round to it

That looks fantastic... suitably different as well... Does this have the fancy pick ups and filter EQ? *edit* should have read the specs really...
It can be the same with gtrs.... they have their pre-determined version of bass players...and they might just want someone who sits there and doesn't rock THEIR boat....which is a very selfish way to go about and play music, IMO.
If your not selfish with your tone (and the basslines you want to play) then you will be walked all over and you'll end up playing roots with a dull thudy tone just like everyone else... if I was being payed to play then obviously I'd play and sound however I was expected to sound.. but I'm not... I'm playing originals for fun and its no fun for me if someone else is dictating how they want my bass to sound.

I don't think MM players are any worse than anyone else... Everyone is far too sensitive about what others think of their gear choices. Who cares what anyone else thinks of your bass, you chose it and it's for you. People seem to need verification that they've made the correct choices by everyone else agreeing with them. I just don't get it. I love the Wal sound and I couldn;t give a sh*t if I was the only player in the world that liked it... I would still like it... I don;t need everyone else to agree with me, in fact I couldn't give a toss what anyone else thinks.

Bought Nik's ME-50B. What a gentleman... had a bit of a courier disaster in that I wasn't in and they didn't leave a card with any details, in the end they returned it to him! So Nik went out of his way to drop it of himself. Much appreciated. Deal with total confidence.

would a bad drummer make you quit a band? I just did :-(
...I'm not sure what I'd say was my reason for leaving though.
Go with the time honoured "musical differences"... -
That was an interesting read. Andy sounded like he didn't have a scoob about 1/2 of what you was on about (nor did I), but managed to fix your problem! The power of Basschat!
I've read this thread through and have absolutely no idea what happened here...

The thing that annoys me about timing issues is that it seems obvious to me that if the drummer slows down or speeds up mid song at a gig then we all have to as well. I match what I'm playing to the drums, everyone else just carrys on in their own (usually correct) timing hoping things will come back together... It's obviously good practice to have things going at the correct tempo but if it does slip then we have to adapt or it sounds sh*t... no glory in getting to the end of the song thinking "well I was in time" -

Jazz Bass-Neck Pickup More Trebley Than Bridge
CamdenRob replied to fordbass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Sounds like they are maybe wired the wrong way round? as in the bridge pick up volume is actually controling the neck pickup and vice versa? -
Might have a go myself this month... got a new multiFX coming and this seems like a good excuse to try it out.

Bump, Bump, BUMP! Sent some extra info in PM and though it might be useful here in the thread too.... Sorry about the flash, not much natural light today for decent photos. According to my luggage scales the bass weighs 11.6lb and the bridge string spacing comes out at 83mm across all six strings so 16.6 between each. Bass will be shipped via parcelforce express 24 in a hardcase... it will be bubble wrapped inside and outside the case. This will be about £25.
A bit like the Eurovision song contest?
That's not a fair comparison... One is a bloated comercial monster, grabbing peoples money at every turn whilst masquerading as a genuine music event... and the other is the Eurovision song contest...

The Behringer Bass driver DI is currently available at less than £18 from Thomann and does 90% of the Sansamp thing. http://www.thomann.d...ling_preamp.htm Also Thomann are doing a Hartke one for less that £40 if that took your fancy? http://www.thomann.d...xl_60th_ann.htm In fact I've got a Behringer Bass Driver I'm not using as I only bought it to take to rehearsals before I realized my BDDI could run on batteries ... yes I know but its not imeditely obvious... well it wasn't to me anyway. If you fancied giving it a go I could ping it over to you? if it doesn't work out send it on to someone else who might get some use out of it? I can't see me ever using it as it basically doubles up what my BDDI does.

To 5 string or not to 5 string? That is the question.
He had a BBQ in the summer with most of his friends being hippy musos too the night revolves around a jam session, I can confirm it sounded just as amazing on a Saturday night too
Sounds like a pretty cool studio to be honest -
