But no sunburn or bad tattoos! Could be seen as letting the side down...
Missing a can of lager too, but in fairness it's a respectable effort...

Fender 50th Anniversary Jazz Bass (2010) *Sold*
CamdenRob replied to CamdenRob's topic in Basses For Sale
No worries.. I'm fussy too, dinks are as follows; One on the headstock, One small and one tiny one on the top shoulder, and one down by the bridge, I'm pretty sure that's it but I'll have a look over it tonight and see if they are any other minor marks I've missed. I did have this up for a while a few months back but I couldn't find the thread in the search thingy, also this is part of a wider listing so I thought I'd just start everything again. -
I concur. No money and no lefty Foderas at the time of our visit saved me from serious gas... Jack with Joey and Phil in Joey's office http://wp.me/p2ZbyY-kM
I see you went for the quintessential "Englishman on holiday" combo of vest, shorts and sandals... good stuff...

There seems to be a change recently in "Basses for Sale"

I always list stuff as collection only to see if anyone local is interested first before resorting to shipping. It is a mission for me to have stuff picked up as I'm always at work during the hours couriers collect, so I try and see if there is any local interest first. I live very close to a parcel-force depot and if they offered insurance for musical instruments it would be incredibly easy for me to pop in there with a bass in the evening and send it off.... sadly they don't offer adequate insurance so it's a non starter. I'm always happy to travel out from London for an hour or so and meet at a train station to exchange in person though and I've done that in the past. -
I bought Claas's Wal sixer and things couldn't have gone smoother. Claas shipped the bass as soon as the funds cleared and it arrived safely a few days later, no hassle, no worry, no stress. Deal with confidence.

*Sold* Due to recent extravagant acquisitions I unfortunately have to move some basses on. In truth I’d rather not be parting with any of them, but I am happy that I can get everything I need out of my current and incoming basses, so the others are going up to see if there is any interest, although I’d be more than happy to keep them all if nothing sells! Fender Precision Bass MIJ (1984-87) - £425 (Including UK Shipping) Asides from my awful first ever bass, I’d not owned a precision before I picked this one up last year and it has totally changed my opinion on them. Currently strung with an old set of D’addario chromes, with the tone completely rolled off it gives a wonderful rounded thump… not dull and boomy though, it still has enough mids to sit in the mix where a precision should. Plus the tone control actually does something, ranging from smooth and bassy to surprisingly bright… I understand this is not necessarily the case with precisions. It is in excellent condition and the weight is a very manageable 9.5lb. Serial number is E856566 Which according to the guitatdaterproject means; Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan in the Year(s): 1984 – 1987 Bass comes with the pictured hiscox hardcase and matching brown fender woven strap. Not looking to ship at this stage so the bass will initially be collection only from Camden, North London. You are more than welcome to come round and try the bass, have a beer, chat about basses, put the world to rights etc… No trades thank you. The object here is to get rid of some basses, if I could have a collection of basses I would be keeping all the ones I currently own!

Fender 50[sup]th[/sup] Anniversary Jazz Bass (2010) Bought this a little while ago off the forum and I’ve listed it, delisted it, listed it, delisted it… ad infinitum… In truth I love this bass but I can’t see any situation I would be using it over my Wal so I’m putting it up again. An ECN was done to remove them from the kits,...so some later models may not include this stuff in the kit. This is a lovely modern Jazz bass, weighing in at just under 10lb according to my luggage scales. One or two small dinks it came to me with, but good condition overall, comes with the case and candy (polishing cloth missing). It is currently strung with Red DR steels… very fetching… I have also been using a red Fender woven strap with this bass which I think looks pretty cool and will be included.

-SOLD- Due to recent extravagant acquisitions I unfortunately have to move some basses on. In truth I’d rather not be parting with any of them, but I am happy that I can get everything I need out of my current and incoming basses, so the others are going up to see if there is any interest, although I’d be more than happy to keep them all if nothing sells! Warwick Thumb NT 6 (2010) - £1500 + Shipping I recently picked this up from the forum, I’m reusing some photos hope you don’t mind Ferenc. Soon after I bought it an opportunity to buy a Wal sixer came up and I gave into lifelong GAS… So sadly I will have to move this wonderful instrument on. Info from the Warwick website; Serial number: E15431010 Produced: 2010-05-28 Description: Thumb Bass, 6-string Natural Oil finish Bubinga Pommele body Ovangkol neck Black hardware This is a truly amazing bass in fantastic condition. Weighing in at 11.4lb it’s no lightweight but it’s not too bad for a sixer. Plays and sounds exactly as you would expect from a top of the line Warwick, the Thumb NT 6 sits firmly amongst the best instruments Warwick produce. A new one would set you back a touch over £4k. Unfortunately I do not have the original case or the Warwick user pack, this is how the bass came to me. Since I bought it I have replaced the missing straplocks with new Warwick ones and these will be included in the sale. I have also bought a new set of Warwick pickup screws as the originals are slightly tarnished, I will include these with the bass as well. I can provide a thomann hardcase if required at no extra cost. I will also include a new tin of Warwick beeswax.
That raises an interesting point actually... You don't see many female bass players with Foderas. I am totally NOT going to be drawn on any suggestions as to why that may be...
Actually that's my fault, I should have used a gender neutral marker... Mrs C would be outraged...
-
I guess they are "worth" whatever someone is prepared to pay for them... It's justifying that worth that is the issue with Fodera or indeed any other bass manufacturer. If you feel that a £20k Fodera is giving you something that no other bass can, and you have the resources to buy one then yes - they are worth it. Buying a top end bass is not just about the quality of the instrument itself, it also has a lot to do with identifying yourself with the brand of instrument you have chosen to play in public... Some would look upon a Fodera player as a man with an uncompromising taste for quality... others would see a guy wtih more money than sense...

I've always put the price in the thread title... makes sense to me. -
I have 2 5 string versions and they are best all-round basses i've played. Again subjective to taste....I'd visit bass direct and try one.
It looks fantatsic... no bass buying for me for a while though, I'm in selling mode over the next year or so to pay for the pair of Wal sixers I have coming
-
This is what keeps me up at night but as a 6er rather than a 7. About 1/3 the price of the Xotic though so you could have 3 of them in different colors (although just this one in white would keep me pretty happy). Only thing is they're only available as an import from the US so a bit tricky to try before you buy.
I looked into getting one of those a little while ago, a few emails back and forth. Someone off here bought one and I seem to remember the reports were pretty positive.
I'll be going second hand I think. For two reasons: 1. I turn basses around quite regularly - apart from 2 basses I own, I generally switch every 1 to 2 years. 2. I'll lose less money if/when I do move it on for something else.
Yes there is alot to be said for going secondhand... Especially when you suffer from GAS as much as I do
-
...ACG uber spec bass (so with the multi coil pickups and the Dual Filter Preamp.
That's not a bad shout.
You need to stop posting pictures of this all over the place or I may sink into deep depression because is not mine!
ha... yeah I posted it somewhere else yesterday I think... Sorry about that. I found it the other day and have been thinking about it ever since. Fortunately there doesn't appear to be any for sale in this colour anywhere...
-
All mine are obbm, instrument cables, patch cables and speaker cables... never had an issue.
-
...I've even considered buying two passive Fender Jazz 5 strings and having one BEADG and the other EADGC. One white and one sunburst so they're instantly recognisable on a dark stage.
If I was in the market for a new jazz sixer I'd be looking at this from Xotic... never played one but think it looks great. To be honest I'd personally try and avoid having two basses instead of a single sixer... I'm trying to get down to carrying as little as possible to gigs. In truth I could get away with a fiver for 90% of what I do with bands, but I do need the high C for a few tunes so I decided that a sixer was the way to go. My aim is to get down to one fretted sixer and a fretless.
-
As for a personal recomendation... If I had a choice of any bass in the world (which you pretty much do) it would be a Wal sixer. But obviously taste is subjective and what works for me may not be what works best for you
-
£3k is a sizeable budget for any bass and you could get pretty much any used sixer you wanted for that outside of Foderas... I have only ever played one Ken Smith and it was a fiver, wonderful quality instrument that could hold it's own with the best of them. Then again with that sort of budget everything is going to be of the utmost quality. It's a good idea to try everything out you can as there is quite a wide variation between manufacturers. You could also have an instrument built if nothing out there takes your fancy and you don't mind waiting... UK builders include ACG, Status, Overwater, Wal to name but a few. Loads of good sixers come up here on BC all the time... there is a lovely Fbass in the marketplace at the moment.
-
If this actually comes to fruition may I suggest somewhere with a bar? Maybe a pub / social club with a function room etc... also somewhere easy on the tube would be a must I'm guessing. I could bring a micro rig and a couple of basses minimum.
-
I would say that price looks a bit optimistic considering the mods. It's a bizare misconception that modifications add value to a bass... they don't
PM me your address... I'll just nip over and make sure everything's OK... no, don't thank me yet...
That'd be great thanks, can you let the cat out whilst your there,,, Don't worry about the missus she won't notice, she's used to a bloke hanging around in the house playing basses... As long as you drink enough beer and mumble incoherently every now and then she'll just think it's me.
