1. a blue one...
2. Are any of them audible in the mix?
3. It depends on the venue and the style of music as to the age of the audience... We played a gig at a studios in East London last saturday night as one of three bands all playing original music, one classic style rock, one shoe gazy type stuff and us (folky rocky type stuff) a good 60 odd people watching and I was definitely amongst the oldest there at 32... The studio puts on these nights (essentially gigs) every month and they are invaribly well attended... however... all those attending, whilst young, are active musicians themselves (who reherse at the studio) and so have an interest in music. Of the gigs we've played at regular music venues the younger folk generally have absolutely zero interest in live music.
4. A veritable smorgasboard of Johns the Yamaha endorsee list....
5. Anyone manufacture a bass specific version of a belt clip style preamp these days? I'm sure Sadowsky used to make one? A quick google search turns up a few but they all seem to be voiced for acoustic guitar. I've also seen a nice shiny fishman one which might be suitable, although that also looks primarily geared towards acoustic instruments. I'd like a decent quality preamp to clip on my belt / strap for use with my Fenders, has to be battery powered as well... anything out there I'm missing?
6. I think it was Patitucci... it was Red in its most recent incarnation and higher spec than the regular 1006 if I remember rightly.
7. Having said that, I have sold other basses / amps on BC in less than a week but they have always been priced to sell...
8.
I always assumed that you'd get less from a shop as they need to factor in their markup on top of the 'saleable rate'?
I guess it depends on the bass... Before I decided to keep my jazz, I was offered a good 20% more by a couple of shops than the price I'd had it for sale on BC for over two months with absolutely zero interest... and they would have put a mark up on the price they gave me.
9. The thing is selling is a bit of a mixed bag... BC is good for selling as it has a large, ready made market of buyers but... the BC folk are a lot more knowledgable about a basses worth than you average music shop buyer. You will not sell a bass on BC for more than it is worth but in a shop you could do, there is a chance you could sell it for much more however it will likely take longer. Assuming you want to make as much money as possible from a sale I would use a shop... if your looking for a quick turnaround then use BC.
10.
Rickenbacker?
11. I tried to get hold of a 1006j early last year and GAK said there was only one available in europe. I cancelled the order as it was going to take months but I think they did eventually get it in stock. Must have been the end of the line round about then...
12. Ah I know the place... It's in Soho, very lively sceen round there should be packed. If Mrs C isn't working we'll be there.
13.
I have major Spector GAS at the moment.
I think if you and I were to start listing basses we haven't got GAS for it would be easier.....
14. What happens to the ones that don't survive? unless people are actually destroying them surely many of the older ones are still around? I guess they must have made less of them in the earlier days...
15.
cool!! there's a couple pics of a greenburst 6er in the Wal database: https://www4.cs.fau....al/walspec.html the same guy that i got this greenburst from has two 6'ers himself: a purpleheart and a shedua.
That's lovely... I think if the ebony falls through I'll go for that with a matching headstock.
16.
13th May
Yay my birthday.... not that that is a particularly useful contribution to this thread...
17. I do love the green burst.... Discussing options with Paul at the moment for my MKIII sixer, very tempted by green burst, although there is a possibility of ebony facings so I might go for that.... decisions decisions...
18. Is that a green MKII?
19. Sounds good to me... where is the borderline, I've not heard of it?
20. I'd go for another Glockenklang amp definitely... maybe a pair of berg 112s.
21. I had one of these for a good year or so until I recently moved it on. I can't give an accurate neck measurement I'm afraid as I no longer have it but it was relatively thin front to back and very comfortable. The bass was heavy (11.2lb) but then again sixers usually are... It was well balanced and I found it a very easy instrument to play. String spacing was on the tight size at 16.5mm but it felt wider and I didn't have any trouble with it. The preamp was basic but powerful and gave very decent bass response and a nice treble zing on top if that's your thing... Overall I though it was an excellent bass, well worth the secondhand price.
22. I'm probably alone here, but I hardly ever listen to music... I'll occasionally put my ipod on when I'm on the bus to block out the neanderthals behind me bellowing at each other about Arsenal, but that's about it really... I much prefer playing and to be honest I've very little interest in listening to other peoples music. I enjoy watching the other bands on gig nights and go to watch bands locally quite a bit, but that's about my only exposure to music I'm not personally involved with.
23.
I can even see merit in Girls Aloud..
We can all see merit in girls aloud.... it's hearing any that's the issue...
24. Al bought my Genz Shuttle 12.2. Great comms and he even went to the trouble of going into my bank to make the payment. Deal with full confidence.
25.
Some of this stuff is comedy gold. I'm crying here
I'd be crying if WoT puked on me at one of his gigs.....
