1. Have you tried putting an ad like this up on Gumtree? I had quite a few responses after posting something similar last year. Not sure many people on BC are looking for a bass player... as we are all bass players ourselves
2. Sounds like GAS buddy... Its a side effect of being a member of BC. The feeling that we have to change our gear for something better, even though what we have serves us perfectly well.... Having said that, the marketplace is a great place to chop and change your setup, just be careful you don't get rid of something you'll regret and can't get back later. Anyway I can't talk, I swap my stuff around almost weekly
3. I think you should go for a barefaced or a schroeder...
4.
Basschat affiliate Xylem does these http://basschat.co.u...build-progress/ http://www.xylembassguitar.com He is in the USA but BC member winterfire666 just received a bass from him and put a review on here. The basses look amazing!
That looks amazing...
5. Nice intuitive compressor pedal, the ratio is preset and you use the level control to bring the input level up to the threshold. Good condition, boxed with instructions, velcro on underside. This is the Palmer page for specs etc. http://www.palmer-ge...-bass-PEBDP.htm £32 posted in the UK
6. Gumtree worked well for me when I first moved to London, it's a great place to get started. Since then I've joined other projects through people I've met at gigs etc. Mind you Camden isn't exactly short of bands looking for a bass player so YMMV in your home town.
7. Bump! Will also take cash for a straight sale if anyone is interested.
8. The Eve basses at last years London Bass Guitar Show looked fantastic.
9. It doesn't matter how old you are at all... I'm 32 and only came back to bass playing last year after Eight years in the wilderness. I'm no better or worse than I was last time around but I'm much more comfortable in myself and my playing now I'm a bit older.... mind you I'm still younger than you lot...
10. £220 if anyone is looking for a P bass. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fender-precision-bass/1076929291#photo-content
11. What a lovely bass... I'd like an MK1 fretless with that top....
12. Wow... what a lovely collection.
13. Just for total clarity, the bass has a couple of small chips as pictured below.
14. Any trades? looking for quality fretted sixers really but try me....
15.
Acoustic basses are pretty much a complete waste of time IMO; using them with other acoustic instruments you will always have to use an amp to be heard which totally defeats the object of having an acoustic in the first place. As you'll doubtless end up having to use an amp or DI I'd just get a cheap P bass, chuck some flats or tape wounds on it, wind the tone off & use that.
I was going to post in this thread.... But not much point as I'd have just been repeating this. For my gigs in an Acoustic set up, I take a P Bass strung with flats and small amp.
16. The offset flamboyant is one of my favorite bass shapes... I know others do similar shapes but the Sei just looks to my eyes so perfectly balanced. ... note to self *no I cannot justify getting one*.....
17. I don't think I'm allowed to talk about it
18.
I use a collapsible golf trolley . Cost £3 from a charity shop . At home I found a little compartment on it for tees that had a 5p piece in , so it cost me £2.95......
I went through my golf bag the last time I went to visit my folks having not played for years... I found a bobble hat, about Six quid in change and a three year out of date can of Tetleys...
19. Played Upstairs at the Ritzy in Brixton last night sans drums. Great turn out and good sound with vocals and acoustic through the PA and my bass through the MB200 / Wizzy 10. Supporting a guy called Jack Harris. Not that keen on his songs but a really nice guy and fantastic guitarist... a good night was had by all. Promoter was a bit odd though. I understand wanting people to be quiet when the acts are on but yelling "shush" at people seemed a bit over the top. I always thought that a band had to earn the right to be listened too, by having engaging material and an interesting performance that holds peoples attention.... otherwise it's just self indulgent widdling infront of people forced to sit and listen to you.
20.
About 5 years ago I had a 70s Satellite Jazz copy for £25 - it was up for £50 but one of the pups was dead & the guy wanted it out of the shop. Re-soldered the pup cable to the pot, cleaned it up and gyppo-flipped it for £100. Easy. A few years back the Newcastle branch had a very tidy Ibanez SR506 6-er up for £120, but I was too skint to take advantage. More recently my local one had a Yamaha SBV500 (exactly like the one I have, apart from the grime) for £60. I had no cash or card on me at the time - should've asked them to stick it out the back for me, because it was gone a few hours later! Jon.
To be honest though, from what I've read of your BC posts, if anyone could find a bargain it would be you. I very much doubt Mr Cash Converters has your astonishing depth of knowledge on Japanese bass guitars...
21. Trouble with cash converters stuff is that anything that looks like a bargain is likely to be nicked...
22. Bringing this one back from the dead... Looking to trade against a 5/6 stringer to tide me over till the Wal arrives... What have you got? 5/6 string jazzes most welcome but I'm happy to look at anything. Only thing I wouldn't be interested in is Warwick fivers, had one before and the string spacing is just too tight for me. Also no single cuts or gold hardware thanks.
23. Looks like a good deal if that's the same bass? Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Sunderland....
24. Japanese stuff is worth a look when it pops up used... I've never really been one for P Basses... or Fenders for that matter until recently. A year ago I never would have thought I'd be taking a Fender P strung with flats to tomorrows gig
25. Maybe upload some photos to photobucket and link to them in this thread? Thats a very good price for a Jazz fiver but you'll definitely get more interest if you upload some pics. Offering shipping also helps
