1.
If you can't wait that long, buy a GKMB200 from Thomann for £237. I think that's going to be my back-up amp... Tiny, but sounds huge by all accounts...
I have one of those and to my ears it sounds great I've an EA Wizzy 10 arriving this week which will hopefully pair well with the MB200, then I'll have a bus transportable rig.
2. Aren't woodbrass in france? The price is probably converted from a Euro price hence it looks a bit odd.
3.
A guy I know had a something or other anniversary Jazz bass. That was a mix of the best of every model ever produced over the years.
I have one of those... the 50th anniversary jazz. It's a cracking bass that survived my latest gear cull.
4. I have two of the grey facing ones, two with a navy facing and one with a black facing... I think They are all the short ones though, I'll measure the exact lenght tonight, although they are not short enough for me they are pretty short and wouldn't be long enough for anyone who plays their bass at 'gentleman's area' height. As Mrs C says they are cluttering up the house I'll let em go for a £10 plus postage (which I wouldn't imagine would be much), I'll pop them in a jiffy bag. Excuse the thread hijack, I'll get a proper thread up tomorrow after some photos and I've measured them. One of the grey ones has been used, the others have just sat around looking pretty...
5. I put an ad up on Gumtree when I was looking for other musicians to play with a year or so back... Got three or four responses a day whilst the advert ran. Once I'd sifted through all the metal bands I ended up going to several auditions and eventually sorted out a couple of bands. I'm a grumpy bastard with a very stringent set of conditions for any band I'll play in, so for anyone more reasonable and normal I'd imagine it would be even easier to find a band
6. Liking the idea of a family bluegrass band... I'm going for a whizzy 10 and GB mb200 for an ultra portable rig to use with the acoustic set. I liked the look of those roland cubes... wasn't convinced I'd get any actual bass frequencies out of it though.
7. It's a bit of a flaw of acoustic basses that they are uselessly quiet... Get a double bass
8. I've used them before, no problems The guy who runs it bought one of my GB cabs a while back.
9.
He's talking about keeping the "clang" but having more "clatch"?
Those two terms sound like the exact things I've always tried to eliminate from my bass sound...
10. They are very good in Wunjos... the atmosphere doesn't make it seem like your putting them out by being there, unlike most other bass shops. I'm not overly enamoured with their range of gear, but I guess being a high street shop they have to concentrate on big name / high turnover stuff and I can't blame them for that.
11. Thanks guys Serial number is E856566 which according to the guitatdaterproject means; Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan in the Year(s): 1984 - 1987 Think I'll take the neck off this weekend and have a look.
12.
... cor would love to be in the worlds end or brewdog at the mo
Tiz a daily temptation on the way home from work..
13. I think the actual 60th anniversary P bass was a special issue combining various bits from different eras (like my 50th jazz) but there is also a special metal plate on everything that was made in fenders 60th year, whenever that was? so these could be two completely different instruments. All that may also be nonsense but I'm too lazy to google the actual answer...
14. 70s stuff is widely regarded as vintage, 80s is getting there, but 90s is surley just unfashionably out of date at this point? Which can only mean lower prices and bargains to be had
15.
I've been gigging Prosteels on a couple of my P basses over the last six months or so and really rate them.
They have become my stock string choice for all my fretted basses... I was a bit worried they might be too bright for the P but they sound great.
16.
Nice colour/neck combo! What makes you suspect (allegedly) that it may not be what it was claimed to be? The price seems very good - although I didn't realise that Fender were making basses in Japan quite as early as that... You could check the serial number with Fender themselves if you want to be sure
Serial number checks out I'm just a pessimist at heart, whenever I seem to get a bargain on something it later turns out something is wrong with it!
17. Picked up this beauty yesterday after seeing it on Gumtree. 1985 (allegedly) MIJ (allegedly) Fender (allegedly) Precision Bass... Looks legit to me but I'm no expert and i'm pleased whatever it turns out to be. It all seemed too easy really, I've been on the lookout for a P bass, just sold a jazz, price was good and the bloke selling it lived round the corner... I haven't owned a P bass since a god awful squire that put me off them twenty years ago. This one is light and sounds fantastic with the tone rolled all the way off. I didn't like the flats it had on it so after a quick change to prosteels the sound was warm, smooth and punchy. Might take this along to rehearsal tonight for some of the acoustic songs I don't need the sixer for. Anyway some pics... pretty much mint. Cost me £375 including the (tastefully lined) Hiscox case.
18. Do you guys actually know the answers or are you just better at guessing than I am?
19. It's a totally different timbre depending where on the neck you play a note. It's usefull as sometimes you want deep and boomy and others you want clear and bright.
20.
1/10.
Thats pathetic... I got twice as many.
21.
2 out of 10...

Rubbish! Get off this forum and don't come back! You're a disgrace to the bass community!!
I knew the ZZtop one but I've no idea which other one I got right...
22.
Blimey, that was quick work, "voom! Like a rat out of an aquaduct!" as Brian's mother once said
Well it all sort of fell into place really... Just sold one of my jazzes, Been looking to add a P bass, Good price, The bloke lives on my way home from work. Job done and tomorrow is a NBD
